Can the Criterion Collection consider releasing this at some point now that this movie is ninety years old? I love to imagine what the supplements would look like.
Whatever the exact criteria for Criterion Collection releases may be, it is probably relevant that in general u.s. copyrights expire 95 years after publication.
@@magicalmotionmuseum The movie if it has renewed its copyright notice, would have its copyrights expire in 2024. But not many movies from the ear had the copyright notices in order.
Criterion is pretty likely to release it, but even with it being public domain they would likely still license it from Warner Brothers and work directly with them on the restoration. they did this for Buster Keaton's The Cameraman - also a former MGM property now owned by WB and split the restoration costs with them. considering they've released Sjostrom's The Phantom Carriage, it's highly likely they'd be interested in this. I'd love to see them go all out with the supplements and multiple scores, but truly just having the movie restored and on a disc (something that has never legally happened anywhere in the world) would be enough for me. but it definitely deserves great supplements
He aquí la confirmación.
No, but the original 1928 Vitaphone score has apparently been screened in the last decade or so. Reportedly, it was originally put together somewhat hastily as an afterthought when synched sound became popular. From the video description (if you click "more"): "The music in this short impression was made by Alessandro Marenga as a score for a 2007 DVD version of the film."
Wow, just wow !!!! Amazing special effects way before their time !!!!!
A fantastic film, beautifully told.
Stunning for a movie from 90 years ago.
Un chef d'oeuvre absolu !!
stunning chef-d'oeuvre
Please, what is the accompanying music? I've been trying to find out for ages with no luck!
It must be something from Andrew Earle Simpson. I'm almost 100% sure
No that was added later

Where can I find the complete 95 mins version?
Stunning.
Love Lillian Gish
Best silent movie ever. But why not showing it at full length? And why not with Carl Davis' extraordinary music?
Do you know where I can find the complete 95 mins version? All versions I see are 75 mins.
Thanks. But you miss the final shot. 😊
A silent film is a great film.

Thanks, I'll add this info to the description.
@@magicalmotionmuseum You're welcome! At least, that's what the credits of the version of the movie I saw say.
Where can I see this film? I’m in the US, yet I’ve only seen European dvds
What is the music that you have used?
is this the original score played in 1928?
