The game is over. She is her music and the natural skill plus the bravery in her music just takes her over the top. This is another level of pianist. Rare and a total credit to the inventor of the piano. I'm sure even he would be surprised.
I'm fascinated by the vast variety of reactions to this video, especially from those who belittle it. I love this video! It's what drew me irrevocably past the Hiromi event horizon into all-consuming love for her incandescent talent, passion, and fabulous music. And everything I've seen and heard from her since with Sonicbloom, Stanley Clarke, Chick Corea, Ayaka, and now the Trio Project has only intensified my love for her magnificent music and her beautiful soul of genius. The world is profoundly blessed by her presence, even if not everyone can appreciate it.
Wa subarashii! She is amazing and we Nihonjin are so proud of her! Her last name is the same as my Mom, Uehara. We're from Kyushu!! Go Hiromi, keep making wonderful music, onegaishimasu! :-D
People treating their instruments as if they were extensions of their bodys, with a level of music knowledge above everything i've seen, apparently doing it because they love it, and doing it the way they feel should be done and of course, having a blast while doing it and sharing it with other people. Why can't we have more of this?
+Nigel Spencer She is the incarnate of creativity and love for music. You can literally see her passion in every performance. It's for the love, not for fame or money. She translates that love to her audience so well.
I didn't mention spirituality. I just talked about 'higher states of conciousness', which indeed can be caused by the own brain (or originated in spiritual levels... the election to believe in one or another is free...). Anyway, she plays piano crazily well!
Just saw her last night in SF with Simon Phillips on drums, Anthony Jackson on bass... highest level playing on piano and drums I've ever witnessed. Other-worldly genius level musicianship... that woman is a phenomenon... so are the others...
If you want to see someone (who is ALSO spectacular) BUTT it, watch Jerrod Radnich's "Pirates Forever" (whole thing is great, SPECTACULAR arrangement and an amazing piano technician (as is Hiromi), ending is the clincher, and funny, AND in KEY). Peter Bence's stuff is also good...and he hits the piano with most everything imaginable, well almost, looping, bows, bass drum pedals on the soundboard, fist on the side, hammer hits to the pedals, palm butting the fallboard, plucking strings, plucking strings with harmonic finger stops (that high pure sound like you hear guitar fingerstylists do), damping with palms, etc., on and on. His "Africa" is a good place to start. Oh, and his arrangements, like for Michael Jackson's "Bad" are so GOOD that other pianists cover THEM. Hope you enjoy it.
Ichsan Ramadansyah woah that's dope. Sounds like you know your jazz artist. Tbh I found her by accident, friend of mine shared a Facebook post months back.
Great talent in action; Beautiful Hiromi Great blessing upon her always God bless her always, in all her future endeavours God bless her always, with long life good health and prosperity
"This girl is AMAZING." YES, yes, she is. Others? Jacob Collier, Chick Corea (the two Jazz Festival collabs with Hiromi are EXCELLENT), Keith Jarret ... and several other world class, highly contributing musicians/artists.
She’s a god of improvising and jazz fussion music - can’t say I like that racket she is making at the end but she really is perhaps the most no fucks given and unique master of this sort of thing I’ve ever seen. Also shout out to the guitarist he is nothing but pure taste in this short clip would love to see full video.
If you want to see a lot of her shows, you might want to stay put if you're in the USA. Last time I saw her she was talking about moving here. I hear you though; I'd love to see her play live every day!
