I don't think that it is a bad idea, we have to know about their quality with the premium one. So many people would like to buy the flagship, however they are struggling with their financial sector. In this video, we can analyze about the pros and cons and it will be a good deal if we tolerate the drawbacks
I am in no way an audiophile. I couldnt even begin to tell you anything about the nuances of sound quality, I simply know what sounds more pleasing to ME. The softer, more 'muffled' sound of the CH720 headphones I actually prefer, even if that is a lower sound quality. The huge jump in price to the XM headphones is a total waste for me, although i can totally understand why someone more phonically intellegent would take that jump.
For my personal concerns and usage, I see no point in spending more money for a pair of extremely hq headphones you're gonna be constantly worrying about (for scratches, abrasions, minor damages) while you can have a pretty decent product spending much less, that even if it gets destroyed you shouldn't be worried about your money. Of course i'm talking for an average consume, like listening to music indoor/outdoor and watching stuff on your pc. I'm sure that for professional users the whole thing is different, but for me the CH720N is the best way to go
The noise cancellation part was so helpful! I think I will opt for the XM4s, solely based on the noise cancellation feature. HOWEVER, if I was on a tighter budget, I'd 100% opt for the 720N
@@toasterwifi5838 idk man I bought some refurbed Sony xm5s on black Friday for $180 (the headphones) now if I could do it all over again, I'd probably try the Bose QC ultras instead. The xm5s use some kind of adaptive noise cancelling when anc is on that we can't turn on to the max. Plus if you look on Rtings anc map the ultras absolutely destroy the xm5s in the mids on ANC. Like destroy it.
I think they sound damn good so much so that I wouldn't recommend spending that much money on the xm4 or xm5. I loved my 720 but upgraded to the 9210 because they costed $113 ($10 more than what I paid for the 720's). Either way they're really good headphones.
The 720 really had a nice sound. The Xm4 and Xm45do have a richer sound and wider soundstage. However, I would be extremely satisfied with this sound quality.

They had the Sony Xm4 down to about 275 and Bose Quiet Comfort was 250. So, there are some really good deals currently.
I've been review hunting for weeks now and one thing about the Sony ch720N is that they're the only headphones that gets compared to its flagship model. Sennheiser hd458bt doesn't get compared to its Momentum 4 model, but they love to compare Sony ch720n to the 1000MX5. That definitely tells me a lot about the ch720n!😎
Feel cheap. However pretty comfortable. Noise cancelling is half decent and the overall music sound is acceptable/good. Great value for money imo. Happy i got mine over the xm4
I got me the Sennheiser HD458BT... The sound is breathtaking compared to in-ear phones. The NC doesn't cancel much sound, but it is a lot better than zero noise cancelling.

The noise canceling on WH-CH720N only works one way: reducing the noise coming from outside, but not the sound coming from the earphones. Meaning, people hear clearly my music if it's above safe level. It's the main reason I returned this earphones same day I got them. I expected the noise canceling to work on both ways.
I did not want to pay $250 for the xm4 but I only did it because these were not banging like the xm4 but the weird part is I tested them with my iPhone. When I tested them again with my android phone it was a MAJOR sound difference. I'm taking the xm4 back to trade them for these. The $150 difference is only for those that really need superior noise cancellation.
I got the Sony 720n after my soundcore q30 broke, and I have to admit the Sony is almost as equally good compared to the soundcore, and man they are soo lightweight The only small complaint is that the vocals/speech is a little bit suppressed compared to the q30, but I slightly modified the vocals preset to improve that to some extent

it's Funny bcs for me, that ANC is kinda disappointing, i tried one on the store when it's crowded, while yes it does a different, it's not really that impressive, knowing there's Soundcore and Edifier on the same price range, i say the ANC is barely any difference than the XM5 passive noise isolation i mean, if you want Sony, paying a little more, or in fact the same (on discount) for XB910n is much better buy, with comparable ANC as Soundcore Q45s, and better sound as well

Buying headphones is a nightmare now. I hate these new premium features. Touch controls? No thanks, pause when i take headphones off? I can just press pause thanks. It's more of an inconvenience having to wrestle with what the system thinks is the time i want to pause playback. I dont need manufacturers and primitive systems to make decisions for me. And if i do want them to, I want the ability to disable the feature whenever i choose.

I just got these headphones, WOW, they are so good for the price, SONY makes the best headphones, only thing is for cheap headphones for an ipod, the apple headphones are a little bit better though, but these ch720n's are some of the best I have ever heard, and yeah I had an older pair that had better noise cancellation, but they weighed twice as much. AND I got these ''used'' for 52 dollars!

One thing no reviews ever talk about these headphones are the amount of times they disconnect from your phone. I just got mine today and it would disconnect every 2 minutes. It was very frustrating I ended up returning it. I don't recommend as it is a problem a lot of people have with the 720s, although mine might just be faulty. But I would keep that in mind, these headphones sound good but the bluetooth is just hell.

I have about 150$ to spend on headphones. Can’t stretch it further, and I also need it soon, so saving up isn’t an option. I’m used to very cheap headphones (25$-ish) and after they broke, I decided to go for a higher quality. I’m also autistic, and greatly value noise cancelling. I value sound quality, but most/pretty much all other headphones in my price range didn’t have noise cancelling, so I’m willing to do with slightly worse audio quality as a tradeoff. Moreover, I don’t make a lot of calls outside of my home. Sounds like the WH-CH720N will do nicely for me as general everyday headphones.
@@IARV_ personally, I’m quite satisfied with the sound as well. I think they may have a more… messy sound than other headphones, but perfectly I like that more than when it’s clean. Having said that, the app also comes with an equalizer, so you can freely customize however you want the sound. Additionally, there are multiple preset options for different types of audio, among which there is one for speech, one for bass boost, etc. I personally am a big fan of the one titled Excited, though the S-sounds are a bit sharp for me personally (I don’t normally hear S-sounds well, so when I do they definitely seem sharper to me than they do to most.) But overall, I am loving these headphones, and I really like the sound.
If youre on a low budget just go for it if you can expand your budget go for the xm4 coz the xm5 uses recycled materials and has a worse upgrade when it comes to its headband

I bought these headphones recently and they are good at a lot of things but they are disconnecting from my phone randomly every 15 minutes on average. They soon get reconnected but I lose like 6 seconds of audio from it. And looking online it seems to be a common problem that they didn't fix? I don't know how no one talks about it in reviews but look out for this

straight from the box sound quality isnt ideal but in other reviews i have notices that approx. 40h of usage the quality of the audio significantly improves. I have them yet havent used them that much yet to see if it's true :D
@Tony Dong I have both. 720 is lighter and has no LDAC but with DSEE the sound quality is insane. Also it has not such a tight fit that may be problematic for smal heads. The XM4s has all features but is heavier. ANC is good on both but can't beat the WF1000XM5 inears
AAron I have a question pertaining to your sound comparison that you used in the video. Did you use the analog cord with the 720N to get that audio quality or was that audio quality comparison based on you using the wireless? I am asking because I have heard reviews where people have said the wireless sound quality for music on the 720N is not as good as the sound quality when you use the cord plugged into the headset.

Yep, where I live, the CH720N's cost $250, XM4's are $439,and XM5's are $549 I'm really considering picking these up as all I have are galaxy buds pro and my ATH M50x's, but they sounded a little bass-y for me. Might hold off until the XM5's go on sale but for the price these seem like they aren't awful
Interesting. Trying to figure out whether to get these over my creative zen hybrids, which are great but quite low volume, and the multipoint support would be helpful

Compared to Bose 600, more comfortable, lighter, but lower sound quality and ANC is less silent. Also, this one is without touch control so it has longer battery life and i think it's more durable.
How does the anc perform on the high frequency noises? I really liked the anc of the Sonys xm5 but this weird ai regulation drove me nuts + my ears touched the speakers inside, also hurt over time

I found the 720's NC to be pretty weak. If we say the 1000xm4 NC is a 8.5/10. In comparison the 720 NC would be 4.8/10. I returned them for that reason and I'm gonna try the 910's, maybe the NC will be better❓
Yeah the XM5 ANC sounds much better than the 720N, but it is 348 vs 128. Come on, that is a factor of 2.7! I can turn of that adaptive ANC on 720N but for my research online, it suggests that the adaptive ANC cannot be turned off on the XM5. So, maybe when XM6 is released with the ability to turn off the Adapter ANC, I will get one.
@@ashwinv I won't be able to do this because I don't have the ear for sound quality. I got the headphones just for ANC because of noise issues I cannot control. I would say that the 3.7X price increase is justified by the ANC capability of the XM5.

@@ashwinv Just to be clear. The reason I am not the person to ask about sound quality is because I am definitely not an audiophile. I primarily use the headphones to drown out the plane noise over my home. However, I have noticed that the battery life of the 720N is much better than the XM5.
Does it come with a 3.5mm head jack cable when you don’t want to use bluetooth? And does it need to be charged when using the 3.5 mm cable, because with the Beats Solo 3, you need no charge on the headphones and still use the 3.5mm cable to watch a movie or listen to music.
@@TheBony45 XM5 is the one on the market and xm6 is upcoming. Before buying try to check how they fit in your ears. They are really big chunks but also with superb battery and sound quality. The XM6 will get a sleeker design.
So, the DSEE setting works only when paired with the phone... what if I want to use them with pc or xbox? How good are those headphone when paired with those devices?

yeah the call quality was abysmal
With the 720s, if you’re on your phone, you can use the app to edit the sound profile of the headphones to make it sound much more clear
Between these 3, i prefer the Sony WH-CH720N sound for some reason, i like the bass, im a bass person, i like to feel the bass a lot

Having said that, the app also comes with an equalizer, so you can freely customize however you want the sound. Additionally, there are multiple preset options for different types of audio, among which there is one for speech, one for bass boost, etc. I personally am a big fan of the one titled Excited, though the S-sounds are a bit sharp for me personally (I don’t normally hear S-sounds well, so when I do they definitely seem sharper to me than they do to most.)
But overall, I am loving these headphones, and I really like the sound.

If youre on a low budget just go for it if you can expand your budget go for the xm4 coz the xm5 uses recycled materials and has a worse upgrade when it comes to its headband

Quick question...thinking about buying these to use on aeroplane flights..so I want to ensure they cancel the background noise well enough to enjoy movies/music. I have used airpods previously but they just didn't cut it. I'm on a budget...so do you think the noise cancelling is sufficient for them to be good on a plane? Love to hear your thoughts...Thanks

I bought these headphones recently and they are good at a lot of things but they are disconnecting from my phone randomly every 15 minutes on average. They soon get reconnected but I lose like 6 seconds of audio from it. And looking online it seems to be a common problem that they didn't fix? I don't know how no one talks about it in reviews but look out for this

straight from the box sound quality isnt ideal but in other reviews i have notices that approx. 40h of usage the quality of the audio significantly improves. I have them yet havent used them that much yet to see if it's true :D

@Tony Dong I have both. 720 is lighter and has no LDAC but with DSEE the sound quality is insane. Also it has not such a tight fit that may be problematic for smal heads. The XM4s has all features but is heavier. ANC is good on both but can't beat the WF1000XM5 inears

AAron I have a question pertaining to your sound comparison that you used in the video. Did you use the analog cord with the 720N to get that audio quality or was that audio quality comparison based on you using the wireless? I am asking because I have heard reviews where people have said the wireless sound quality for music on the 720N is not as good as the sound quality when you use the cord plugged into the headset.

I'm really considering picking these up as all I have are galaxy buds pro and my ATH M50x's, but they sounded a little bass-y for me. Might hold off until the XM5's go on sale but for the price these seem like they aren't awful

Compared to Bose 600, more comfortable, lighter, but lower sound quality and ANC is less silent.
Also, this one is without touch control so it has longer battery life and i think it's more durable.
The base on the budget model is best, to me.

I found the 720's NC to be pretty weak.
If we say the 1000xm4 NC is a 8.5/10.
In comparison the 720 NC would be 4.8/10.
I returned them for that reason and I'm gonna try the 910's, maybe the NC will be better❓

Can the headphones be used with both an iPad and a Samsung TV via Bluetooth without needing to pair them again each time?
Yeah the XM5 ANC sounds much better than the 720N, but it is 348 vs 128. Come on, that is a factor of 2.7! I can turn of that adaptive ANC on 720N but for my research online, it suggests that the adaptive ANC cannot be turned off on the XM5. So, maybe when XM6 is released with the ability to turn off the Adapter ANC, I will get one.
Which one will you recommend XM5 or the 720n for sound quality?
@@ashwinv I won't be able to do this because I don't have the ear for sound quality. I got the headphones just for ANC because of noise issues I cannot control. I would say that the 3.7X price increase is justified by the ANC capability of the XM5.

@@ashwinv Just to be clear. The reason I am not the person to ask about sound quality is because I am definitely not an audiophile. I primarily use the headphones to drown out the plane noise over my home. However, I have noticed that the battery life of the 720N is much better than the XM5.

Does it come with a 3.5mm head jack cable when you don’t want to use bluetooth? And does it need to be charged when using the 3.5 mm cable, because with the Beats Solo 3, you need no charge on the headphones and still use the 3.5mm cable to watch a movie or listen to music.
Overall are good except the ear will hot as not have some air flow. Not suitable for gym.

@@TheBony45 XM5 is the one on the market and xm6 is upcoming. Before buying try to check how they fit in your ears. They are really big chunks but also with superb battery and sound quality. The XM6 will get a sleeker design.
