Beatrix and Shadow literally leveled multiple homes, the VIP area of the arena and destroyed and intersection as well as parts of the clock tower.

@@remllames5727 I hate on Iris because I also love her. Her character is so well designed, the fact that she's trying so hard for her kingdom, her frustration is really understandable.

On first watch, I couldn't have seen that yet, but I was hyped by considering those last words "....next time" as the first conformation of season 2. I mean, technically, the anime itself was the real first conformation of season 2, cause there was no denying the inevitable success.
I think Alexia was calm bcuz she knows that there's nothing she can do. That's why she goes on as usual. If shadow decided to wipe out the city, she'll be powerless so there's no point trying to run and hide
But still Alexia holding the sword tight and Iris dropping one make a huge contrast.
That's very true especially for the people who know what Shadow is capable of. At that point you can't do anything but just watch
Yeah the whole reason for that scene was to show how Alexia (the non- prodigy, who mastered the basics to try to reach her sis) has the mentality to keep going regardless of how powerless she feels (Also could be a nod to how Cid did everything he could and still drove to keep going even if it was 'impossible' at the time, aka surviving a nuke). Iris on the other hand it shows how once her worldview was shattered of being the 'strongest', she became confused/irate/inconsolable, as she was spoiled in praise constantly all her life, and her first loss was to a impassable figure, let alone Alpha's power she witnessed beforehand which is beneath Shadows.
@@DarthLisandreL Yeah that scene was so good. It's a perfect example of "show don't tell" in storytelling. The parallel between Alexia calmly swinging her sword in the face of absolute power while Iris drops her sword in despair is a brilliant way to convey their character development over the season. It shows how Iris has had her pride shattered compared to the beginning while Alexia has developed confidence in herself to do everything she can no matter the circumstances.
Basically in terms of mentality the two sisters have swapped places compared to the beginning. It shows how the pride of Iris was built on a fake foundation. Her pride and self worth were entirely built on how other people viewed her, namely her the citizens of Midgard seeing her as a symbol of peace. But people are fickle and a single set back is enough to make everything fall apart.
Meanwhile Alexia has slowly built herself up. Her pride is based on how she views herself and not dependent on the opinions of other people. This is also a reference to their sword styles. Iris is totally dependent on her innate talent, she simply overwhelms her opponent with a greater amount of magic. There is little skill involved. So as soon as she meets someone stronger and more talented than her like Shadows she falls apart. Meanwhile the talentless Alexia pursues the style of a "fencer ordinaire", the simple accumulation of skill by practice and hard work. In the face of true power, Iris can only despair while Alexia continues training with the belief that she too can reach such heights as long as she accumulates enough experience.

Things why Shadow/Cid is the best character:
-the amount of roasting and cool line he spoke puts his enemies to shame
-he's not just quick, he's literally blending in nature, not even Beatrix can react to his upcoming attacks or sense his presence at all
-Shadow is a God both swordsmanship, magic and combat, he is far superior than anyone else....Even without using magic at all
-he's built different, man is versatile and never waste any opportunities (crowbars and slime)
-He can make a girl fall in love without trying hard, the rizz is unfathomable
Side Notes:
-Cat girl from the ship is Zeta a 7th core member of Seven Shades, she'll be important in future arcs
-hopefully the "Dragon" that Shadow defeated, will be introduce in Season 2 of Eminence in Shadow
-And the history of Ancient Capital City (Alexandria)....
I know this is old but wanted to say some things about Cid. Cid was able to see magic power from day 1 because he did all the crazy stuff as human. Yes he is insane and jumped in front of a truck but he actually felt something there. He used his childhood to train the same way he did all his previous life but also started to break his magic pathways to make them more efficient because his magic source/pool is actually average and not op at all, so he opted to better the output /produced magic power coming from the same average source so to speak. He also experimented with slime to make the body suit on himself before alpha showed. He is crazy and knows he is. He knows how everyone probably see him as weird or childish at least in his previous life ,that`s why he think people just play along. Although at the same time he gets the situations as they are and is truly smart and capable of manipulating situations in large scale. He has moral compass even tho broken one. We can see that with Sherry`s case and how he even showed who he is to take revenge for her. The same way he was serious about the fencing because he trained all his life now around 30 years combining both lives. When we don`t see his eyes as Cid he is not playing that or when he makes it clear to reveal who he is as he did here. It happens several times during s.1Shadow is closer to who Cid truly is, the real Cid is Shadow + the small glimpses of Cid from the several moments he is honest. The idiot Cid is fully role and nothing like who Cid is in his head. He admires true hard work, true power and sees fights as dance/conversation [That`s why he and Aurora got along so well they are on equal grounds] hates people using crutches/ easy way to gain power like many of the cult people or Iris at the end [even tho she is mainly has weak will compared to her sister they basically switch places after observing great power. Iris thinks that she is nothing without bring the best while he sister sees a chance to finally find her path]. Cid also hates people underestimating him/thinking he will run from anything reason why his laugh/outburst at the end is partly true not just for show, again similar to his reaction to Shery`s adoptive father thinking that Shadow will hate being the bad guy in eyes of others
My man just finessed Iris like an after thought while he was having a fun duel with Beatrix. Iris has been the main character her entire life. Welcome to NPC status!

Fun fact: We got to see a little bit of Rose in the slime suit, if you go back to episode 1 near the end when Shadow and the Shades are about to jump from the building you can see #664, #665 and Rose in the city with the suits and her short hair.

@@Angel_Rod episode 19 summed up her origin. She is used to be a wonder child, she always won every competition.
So she is not used to lose like her sister Alexia, so recent events that showed her she is not the center of the world, she can't solve everything, she can no longer win every battle hit her really hard.
«The higher you fly, the harder you fall» - is just what happens to Iris and that is why she would rather die that lose once again. She is now on here strait way to hell, abyss, void, corruption and self destruction with this attitude and it makes us wonder if she would get redemption arc or meet her unfortunate finale.
This was for sure one of the greatest finales of all time with arguably the most badass protagonist!

She is clearly an agility fighter relying on speed. Yes Cid is way quicker but you can see her attacks and moves are way quicker than Iris ones (whose attacks has wide range and strong magic infusion, but are pretty slow).
Using armor would probably dramatically reduce her speed.

This season finale is the perfect explanation for Cid to the strong man of the shadows, he doesn’t think Iris questioning of Iris is ridiculous, but Cid’s script-like reaction to Alice is so perfect, so Cid also follows the script The same laugh in the middle, only Cid said that this is a show (there is another point that the ending of this episode is the animation supervisor and the original artist, no one else participated, this is the strongest in our reality, 💀thank you for the first season Response works, looking forward to next season

Shadow showed everyone his superiority and that they are but insects that he could crush any time he wishes 🔥
Iris used an artifact after accusing Shadow Garden of using them, but of course it was in vain, and it did not change the final outcome in the slightest.
She still had the guts to claim that Shadow was running, what a hypocrite!
So in this finale, we saw Iris seemingly still being in denial and salty, Sherry going mentally downhill and bent on revenge, and Rose being heartbroken as she gives up on her identity.
However there are still a lot of things left for Lord Shadow to do, and we shall wait for the second season to yet again bear witness to his greatness!
Ah I loved Iris getting roasted and straight up bodied throughout this fight!

Of course she's salty about Shadow being stronger than her. Her one duty is to protect the kingdom, and she takes pride in that, only to be humbled by a mysterious organization that she had no idea existed. She doesn't know what Shadow Gardens intentions are, but just that they pose a threat to the country. If she can't take on Shadow, then what hope does she have at protecting her country if they decide to turn against it? She doesn't even know the nature of the conflict between Shadow Garden, and the Cult of Diablos, and she knows it.

So if you recall all the previous Atomics you would have noticed that the magic field he produces is just the ignition radius. Remember the first one, it was about 20-40 feet in size and the hole it created in the middle of the capital was about a mile or two in diameter, so if Cid had detonated the capital which is a Megalopolis big enough that it has over a million residents, then the actual explosion would had deleted the entire Midgar country.
I don't know if you know, but the second season was announced for october this year.

The catgirl at 17:32 is Zeta, she is one of the seven shades. She's in charge of the intelligence/reconnaissance wing of Shadow garden. We'll get to see more of her later on.
Each of the seven is basically the head of a wing of Shadow Garden.

I won't spoil anything, but SG is super interesting and way more in depth than we've gotten to see in season 1. Even in the LN we haven't gotten tons of details, but there is way more going on internally in SG than is shown. It's actually crazy how fleshed out and in depth everything is for a comedy series.

Tis is what catapulted Iris in to the top hated character in the ln and the further in the story the mor unhinged she gets are you going to react to I got a cheat skill in another world and became unrivaled in the real world
I don't know if anyone else mentioned it, but that cool black and white moment when Iris attacks Shadow while Beatrix is charging mana, is black and white, because she times her attack with the moment that a bolt of lightning strikes, and the exchange from dash in, to knee to the face is supposed to be in the span of a single lightning strikes flash of light. Very subtle nod to Iris at least 'trying' to think about how to catch him off guard.
