I'm a brick and block Mason by trade. You have split face block here trying to break through. Always remember every 4 feet and on each side of the windows and doors are solid with concrete and rebar. And avoid the two bottom courses. Because that's where all the mortar Falls when you are laying the block that's the toughest part. But you're lucky it's only 4 inch block because you don't feel 4-inch block with concrete and rebar

Perhaps this is the "and rescue" part of "fire and rescue". A building made with blocks like that is unlikely to have a serious fire that would prevent other access methods.

If a windows is available then the window is of course the obvious way to go. If the building is on fire then they are not going to spend 20 minutes busting a wall while the people inside burn to death, while they could also just have broken the window. Perhaps first grow some intelligence before acting sarcastic. But Steve O has it right, it's a training for busting the wall.

Hey, you need to teach them chainsaw safety. I don't care who you are, you don't cut towards people and you don't grab branches or twigs near the chainsaw when it is on. You wait till the cut is done to grab any branches or twigs. I've worked in the tree business for 9 years my dad 37 years, and the number one thing they first teach you when cutting, make sure no one is in 5 ft of you and the chainsaw when it is on.

But they are training as if there is none... as if there is no other entry point to that area of the building. Sure, 90% of the time you’re gonna have easier access points but what if the time comes where there are none? That’s what training is all about... creating “what if” scenarios. It’s better to train and be prepared for any possibility than rely on common techniques or scenarios.

Things should run on battery and solar instead of combustion like that chainsaw.

Seems to me like if you saw through a wall you run a serious risk of cutting into a live electrical wire...

Why would the fire chief tire his guys out doing it manually? I mean, they could of waited for the pneumatic/electric tools and still would of made it inside in less time that it took with the sledge.

Man, some of these dudes do not look like they have a lot of experience using sledgehammers.
I guess you don't often need to breach walls manually if at all.

@@Alvah707 No, that's why #77 almost cut off his mates leg. Chainsaw safety is a big priority. Especially in an environment when things need to get done quickly. If 77 was in a situation where he needed to move fast, his buddies leg is either gone or severely damaged. You 1.) Never cut towards anyone. 2.) Keep atleast 5ft away from any active chainsaws. 3.) You use the bottom portion of the blade to keep debris from flying everywhere and to have more control. He's putting way to much pressure on the tip of that blade which means he has little control when he cuts all the way through. Which that could lead to him swinging the blade out to far and cutting someone. The blade is dull which again leads to him putting to much pressure. The safety supervisor should have stopped him as soon as he turned on the chainsaw and started cutting towards everyone. He corrected it later on but there were still a lot of people within that 5 ft range. He then continues to use it on a concrete wall. That blade is gone and they'd be lucky if it didn't break and hit someone. I've been in thw tree business for 9 years and my dad 37 years. And what I saw here scares me that these people are out there using chainsaws incorrectly. If you're going to have a chainsaw, they need to learn how to properly use one and the safety behind it. BTW just nit-picking, but the blade was a little more lose then what it should have been which could lead to a jam or the blade breaking.
