The notion that any buyer of one of these trucks would use it as a real work truck is insane. I'd bet 80% of all pickups purchased in the USA are never used for more than a commuter vehicle.
Yup. Most of the people I know polish the dam truck more than they ever offload gravel or horse sh!t for their gardens/farms. Truly a world of soft hands. Useless. Because they can afford it I guess🤦🏽♂️🥴
Guilty here with my nissan frontier. But as a kid, I've always admired pick-ups and wanted one. And now I do, and even it is a pavement prince, i have one to show that I've made it. I don't need it to work on muddy hills, in snowy woodlines, or have it tow around equipment to and from some construction site; but it's mine and I love it.
If I get to have one vehicle in my possession (and only one because it's not practical for me to have a second), why not get what I want, enjoy it, drive it down to its last broken leg, and say "I had fun"?
I spent 37 years beating the crap out of the trucks I owned. They were all bought used, and many of those years I did lawn care / odd jobs hauling stuff to the landfill and scrap yard. Now that I'm retired, I bought a new Nissan Frontier, and for the most part, it'll only be hauling the bedliner. But it will haul some bush clippings from time to time.
It charges just fine with no issues. Drop the diesel crap and the DEF that comes with it as you tow a heavy trailer passing those fuel pumps as they suck you dry. Get real
I love the way Scotty explains the vehicles he shows us, with such high velocity, enthusiasm and gestures to the point of running out of breath which may necessitate an oxygen tank nearby. Hope not.
I once owned a Club Car golf cart with about 800lbs of lead acid batteries under the bench seat. Loved it. Towed a cart behind it and used it to haul yard debris.
Are you referring to the guy in the background dragging behind him, what appears to be tree limbs (not a lawnmower, sorry) that he probably just trimmed off the tree, 😂, at 00:00:52 seconds into the video? I can see why you might mistake what he was dragging, 😅 , he went by pretty quickly. And honestly, I didn't even notice him when I first watched the video, lmbo 😂!
Yes, thanks for the location, I did a zoom and it’s an older gentleman towing part of a tree or a bush, obviously from recent trimming. Too bad as a youth, I used to mow the neighbors lawns and was able to purchase my own motor vehicle at 12 years old, great memories
Yeah the Cybertruck is only 10% the weight of a loaded Sherman tank. The instant torque and quick acceleration with the extra mass will be devastating in collisions. They are having issues with parkades and bridges too.
Volvo has just decided to NOT go all electric. Volvo-Geely has said that they will no longer go All Electric, but will provide hybrids. Now, Scotty's Mad.
I doubt any self-respecting blue collar working man or woman, would ever buy something so outrageously priced and so limited in use, as an "electric vehicle" is! 😂🤯🙄🤦🏻♀️
We got one at work and it’s nice and tbh the range is pretty good in em as a co worker used it to move and fully loaded it went driving for money of the day and had 700 miles left
I appreciate your honesty in all your videos, Scotty. Thanks, Scotty! OK, maybe not get stuck in the snowy or icy roads, yes. But akin to a gas vehicle running out of gas, how does an electric get unstuck from bad road conditions when it runs out of electricity? Chevy is working on the first 'accessory'? The trailered batteries they are developing for battle tanks? Hahaha! Now, a hybrid in the out of fuel situation will merely need more gas poured into the tank. No? I hope I'm not just thinking delusionary things again. Hahaha! Keep on telling the truth, as reality dictates, Scotty! You're the man, Dude!
The battery alone weights more than my car with me in it! Will be smooshing the pavement under its tires, and did I mention tires? Imagine the frequency and cost of replacing those tires. But then you think about it, it will either break down, get totaled or burn down before needing any new tires. So they can actualy market this as a 'no tire replacement required during its lifetime'
Our company truck ford ev f150 lighting ran over a conduit pipe ruptured the battery haven’t seen the truck in almost 2 months. It’s at the dealership insurance issues.
Gas vehicles lose MPG in winter too. And Gas trucks get lower MPG when towing too. The difference between them is it takes 15 minutes to fuel up your gas Truck, but it takes over an hour to fill up your EV truck.
@@overlandbyday1130 Plus, as soon as there are more EVs than gas cars, the Government will start taxing fast charging at stations. They aren't going to give up the hundreds of billions of dollars of income just because they forced everyone to switch.
@@overlandbyday1130 No difference in terms of range loss - exactly the same for both. ICE cost 3X more per mile with overnight charging. We own both EV and ICE pickup trucks for my plumbing business. We are phasing out ICE and saving money by dropping our fuel contracts. Using your words "no comparison" the Silverado EV WT is much better for handling the daily workload than the ICE versions we are phasing out. If you have not driven one of these pickup trucks there is not much for you to say.
@@spazoq Federal, state and local taxes are charged at DC fast stations. You obviously do not own an EV otherwise you would already know that nobody is forced to buy anything they do not want. The hundreds of billions of dollars of income would be better spent by not propping up the oil industry as in the last 100 years of corporate greed.
@@kelviskelvis7140 Your business doesn't drive long distances. Your business has a set type of work also, your trucks go to one work site a day then sits there while your workers work? Maybe 2 or 3 sites no more than a total of 200 miles away? Sure, EVs might make sense for you. Not for private people that don't have structured lives like you business is.
How much is a Brake Job; to stop this kinda weight? Wouldn't you develop Brake Fade due to your weight going down hill? Imagine a pick up, going into Truck Ramps when you lose your brakes? 3:54
EV's should come with a "swap out" battery and an auto hydraulic system so you can back up to a box(multiple charged batteries), and the EV does the rest.
My personal opinion is that a full electric vehicle is too soon for our US infrastructure. Some days for work I am on the road 100+ miles and some days 5 miles and idle time with the AC blasting. If I need to refuel it takes me less than 10 minutes with an ICE. I would consider a hybrid and think that is our next best step, but these lithium batteries are rare earth metals and there are only a few mines in the world with lithium. If we could get the sodium batteries (or something that is not rare) to the level of lithium batteries it would make the batteries much cheaper.
Hum I don't remember the S-10 EV I was working at Chevy dealer when S-10 was out. Never saw one or heard of them . 8800 pounds YIKES.Cant really tow as you cant go below 10 percent and only charge to 80.
What ford did was so much smarter. It wouldve costed them soooo much more to build the f-150 lighting on a new platform. I guess it proves the frame is as strong as a standard one too?
Actually no it wasn't because it's hodge podged not built from new for specific electric function so it's expensive that's why they loose 100k on each one.
The whole concept of batteries power a wheeled vehicle was tried over one hundred ago.. it didn't work then..and it won't work now .. but theres a lot of people making a ton of money..
I have owned several trucks the last was a Silverado. My current vehicle is the ID4. I have the Silverado EV in order, while there is usefulness of both electric and gas but for me I will be sticking with electric. Thanks for the review.
Hey Scotty has anyone given you any information on the amount that their electric bill has gone up after having an EV ? I bet they haven't mentioned that cause the amount of the electric bill increase exceeds the cost of running a comparable gas powered vehicle. If you have any info can you mention it sometime? Thanks Ricardo
To each his own; buy what you like because it's your money. But if I am buying a truck, I'm buying a truck. Not grandma's caddy with a bed. I don't like creature comforts on my truck, it just takes way the enjoyment of driving a pickup. And I wan't my truck to be the best at what it was designed for. No focus on seats that are like hospital beds. Just my opinion
its just a blazer minivan with a bed. they should just stick to making their vans since they're killing the camero and more than likely the corvette at this rate
Well I was just informed that they took down all those videos supposedly that they had up years ago on the things I mentioned so at least they're doing something about it. If it's true that they did
No one will buy this EV crap, with or without Scotty's lamentations. GM product- crap. EV- crap. People are catching on. Leave Scotty alone for telling the truth.

@@Redact63Lluks for your residence as well.
RIP once more uncle scotty. See you tomorrow. ❤
Scotty's arms and hands will NEVER Rest In Peace.
Scotty Kilmer, nice content keep up the amazing work
An exhaust pipe is a truck's Johnson. Without one, it's not a real truck.
That's pretty far out there to say that
Trucks don’t have genitalia.
They do not reproduce. They are manufactured.
Scotty.. some advice.. please turn on the stabilizer on you phone when you are filming .. I am getting dizzy!
scotty has an entire wardrobe and its just buttoned up denim shirts
Some with long sleeves som with short sleeves
Corrosive refrigerators?
If it were to be a regular pickup truck it be a revived version of Chevrolet Avalanche easy no problem for gas version
These are basically a revamped avalanche. I wish they would’ve just brought back that nameplate for this truck.
Scotty is right, the EV needs charging. Instead get a car with manual and save on gas cost.
The frame is stronger that a standard because of the support structure of the battery pack itself.
Nice looking truck.
yea but for 90 grand ill pass
@@cantwealljustgetalong2 of course. But I'd take it over the ridiculous cyber truck.
2nd protects the rest!
The whole concept of batteries power a wheeled vehicle was tried over one hundred ago.. it didn't work then..and it won't work now .. but theres a lot of people making a ton of money..
The style reminds me of the first gen Ridgeline, or the Avalanche...
Looks like the old Avalanche pickups from the early 2000's
These new EV's weigh more than any of the 60-70's 'C-body' era turnpike crushing yachts. They should have to pay more for road maintenance.
Maybe bring back the Elcamino or S10
Getting 350k miles out of this overpriced GM profit machine over many, many, years...not happening!!!😡😡😡
Last video he said he was dead 😮
For companies who are supposedly concerned about "climate change" they are sure turning it up when it comes to adding "excess" to these new vehicles.
I got shot in the face with a nuclear ICBM for thinking about clicking on this video in a year.
I felt the shock wave. :)
@@CMBBmc-jd6ur lol
Ok, so, what is the range of this vehicle? Compatible with Tesla chargers? How much can it tow?
What does the battery charging assortment pack cost to install into your garage? These are other expenses besides the base price of the truck
My seimens charger was about 250$ plugs into a stove or dryer connector.
If you want to do fast charging it’s expensive and you need to hire an electrician
@@natas12rm that sticker shock you don’t hear about. Does the governor rebate that too.
@@natas12rm no fast charging at a residential probably, just level 2 with a extension to a dyer range 230v outlet
I'm thinking that if you run the air and change phones etc.... that's going to use more juice
Scotty: You can't say you are stepping on the gas in an electric vehicle. Accelerator is now the term.
True, and how's he gonna 'Rev up your engines !!!' with a stupid electric motor in his video intro's?
Zoom zoom 😊
I have owned several trucks the last was a Silverado. My current vehicle is the ID4. I have the Silverado EV in order, while there is usefulness of both electric and gas but for me I will be sticking with electric. Thanks for the review.
Hey Scotty has anyone given you any information on the amount that their electric bill has gone up after having an EV ? I bet they haven't mentioned that cause the amount of the electric bill increase exceeds the cost of running a comparable gas powered vehicle. If you have any info can you mention it sometime?
Thanks
Ricardo
Hey, what's that comment about Canada being cold in the winter?! It's cold in the summer too 😉. Love the channel
All electric cars are crap! You couldn't give me one.
Time number 1000 we are writing Scotty's epitaph 😂😂
Curious, truck at 8800 lbs with spare. If you get a flat how do you jack it up?😮
Ahhhh with a jack. A dually diesel pick-up weighs around the same. Normal screw scissor jack comes with them.
Hey Scotty you forgot to mention since it s electric you can t drive while its raining
When doing acceleration test you said “step on the gas”, but there is no gas, I guess you should say step on the electrons or something like that.😂
its just a blazer minivan with a bed. they should just stick to making their vans since they're killing the camero and more than likely the corvette at this rate
Well I was just informed that they took down all those videos supposedly that they had up years ago on the things I mentioned so at least they're doing something about it. If it's true that they did
Watching this guy is exhausting
Don’t watch him. 🤷♂️

Heavy truck 🚒😨 🚛 trailer?
No one will buy this EV crap, with or without Scotty's lamentations. GM product- crap. EV- crap. People are catching on. Leave Scotty alone for telling the truth.
8800 lbs.?! Jeez, I don't think even fork lifts weigh that much lol.
The tow truck, is a Fork Lifter! LoL😂
you can convert to gasoline engine?
Wait what if the battery in the trunk has a mechanical, and you touch the body? R.I.P. 🚑🚑🚑
Even if they started at 61k, who can afford a 1k+ car payment every month? I dont see these selling very well
