Making of a Dream Darkroom in Florence, Italy: 4 enlargers, custom sinks and an Ansel Adams mural!

- Still can't believe it but it's real: an office/teaching space, processing/toning room and a printing room with a gorgeous Ansel Adams mural - an analog photographer's dream come true!
My darkroom is in Florence, Italy, equipped with custom sinks, three medium format Durst enlargers, a 6x9 medium format IFF enlarger and a 30x40 monster enlarger.
I almost died making it, but now I couldn't be more excited to share the results with you!

That is a really nice darkroom! Glad you overcame all of your obstacles to make your dream come true. I have a small darkroom in my home. Not near as nice as yours, but it is functional and meets my needs. My enlarger is a Beseler 67SD Dichro. I'm also a big fan of Ansel Adams, mainly because of the "Zone System". I have lots of his books. I'm also a fan of Fred Picker. And a fan of Chris Johnson, whom studied with Ansel Adams. A wonderful book by Chris Johnson is "The Practical Zone System" .
The darkroom looks really cool but with that Ansel Adams mural... awesome!!

Fantastic I am building my own private dark room right now. It will have two beseler 4x5 enlargers and a 23c. Two water sinks and paper wash and hot press to dry my fiber prints straight. I cant wait

Good luck . I been using my dark room for about 35 years and never used it as a commercial I love it as my hobby doing Art. But now i change to digital still it is in my house but I look at it as a museum . Darkroom is much expensive and hard to find the material too but yes as an art and hand craft the darkroom is much fun and give you more satisfaction . Good luck hope I will see some art pictures as well from you . 👍🥂

It's the enjoyment of the process that matters! I'm often nostalgic about developing in my bathroom
I process all my 35mm and medium format color and black and white in the bathroom. Always have and love it.

Im more interested in darkroom work than being a portrait photographer. How do you fund this? Are you making a living at this? Is there a market for analogue darkrooms? Or is this just your hobby? Any info you have on starting a darkroom business would be appreciated. Looks great by the way!
There 100% is a market, both for workshops and printing services. It's small, but if you're good and have a name, people will line up to have their negatives printed by you. However, like any other freelance job, it goes better when balanced with something else. I know people who do analog only, but most combine with digital photography, mostly at weddings and events.

My interest is vintage photography. I take tintypes, ambrotypes, and cyanotypes. Its a hobby now, but would be an awesome job! This is epic... how would you come to learn printing from you? Would fly from NZ to learn your techniques for better prints
There is one last spot left for the 5-day workshop in October ( devtankphoto.com/florenceworkshop ), and I will quite probably do a 14 days/100 hours intensive course in darkroom printing next year (no dates confirmed though).
