      Isn't the 3 or 4 Iron going to be more accurate than a longer shafted hybrid, especially on long approach shots where a particular flight shape is required?

    It’s an individual test , each person swing and speed is different , if you find your 5/4/3 irons are all bunching up going the same distance and not getting any height hybrids will be better at launching and separating the gaps , if you have some speed in your swing the irons will give you more maneuverability .

    Video idea: How important is it to be fitted for clubs and using the right equipment? Should I learn to hit the clubs I have now or upgrade and then learn? Maybe do a buyer's guide for upgrading equipment, what we should be looking for, how to decide what is right for you, etc.

    Just got fitted for a new set, and ended up swapping out my 3 and 4 irons for 3 and 4 hybrids, irons for 5 and up. Have only played a couple rounds with them so far and a range session. Took a little adjustment initially to quit hooking them, but I quickly fell in love. I am already significantly more confident in my ability to attack in both the 200 - 215 and 220 - 235 ranges. Especially with the 3, I notice a huge improvement in consistency of clean contact and strikes compared to the iron. Misses are significantly more forgiving.

    I can’t hit hybrids. I have tried and tried and just can’t do it for some reason. I had a 4H and got rid of it today and replaced it with a 7 wood. I am more consistent and accurate with the 7 wood. I did a club fitting/testing with multiple brands 7 wood and 4H found the 7 wood callaway rogue ST Max was the best for me. Comes in Thursday can’t wait to use it.

    I need a hybrid just to cover the gaps in my game. Hit 3 woods 250-260 and then hit my 4 iron 200-210 and have nothing in between lol. I definitely hit my 3 wood a lot more pure then my 4 iron so I’m hoping a hybrid should work good for me. I was about a 3 handicap last year but right now prob more like 5-7 since the winter break in Canada usually costs a few strokes to start the season lol.

    I always keep a 4i with a -1.5" length graphite shaft in my bag that I mostly use for punch outs that require a lot of feel or off the tee on narrow fairways and chutes. If I'm 190+ out and have a good lie, I prefer to use my 3 hybrid because I'd prefer to keep my wrists intact and based on my avg yardages I'm rarely in a situation where I need anything longer than a 5i.

    On my old set, irons all the way 3-SW but on the new ones?! A mix depending on circumstances like the wind or the course in general. This setup is fairly common to me. (Driver, 3-wood, and 5-wood). A 2-iron (can be used instead of all the woods if I play under windy conditions.) The rest of the bag has a 20-22 degree hybrid, 5-SW iron. Some days the only wood is the driver (and those days the driver might stay in the vag the whole round) the rest is iron (2, 3, and 4 irons + my normal 5-LW). I love to play with the last configuration. Really don't know why I don't do it more often. (I lose some distance but I usually save a lot of shot by always staying on the fairway. (I know that the iron going to go straight. The woods are more volatile. (Super-great or really bad.)

  • @neiltaylor1765

  • @jtburton4624
    @jtburton4624 4 года назад

    3-4 hybrid offer me better distance control than the irons, I will use the the 4 iron sometimes depending on wind to keep it lower. Plus I only get about a 5 yard difference between the 4-5 irons.

  • @rufussthoo4083

    I have both but am leaning toward the Hybrid currently as I'm finding I need that length club approaching longer par 4s and long par 3s more often but need/want it to land softly and hold the green. If it is windy I'll take the 3i/driving iron though.

    When i first started Hybrid was only Club I could make good contact with more often than not. Now that I am more consistent with my irons and even my 4 and 5 Iron I hate they hybrid. I might use it for punch in between trees as it is one club I absolutely suck at getting loft out of. When I do get loft out of a hybrid it ends up going to high and kills distance. I can hit my 5 iron 180 4 out of 5 times. The other miss hit will go straight just be fat or thin and only go 150. I will put out a 3 hybrid and I will maybe hit 1 out of 5 180 with the other 4 being anywhere from crazy left crazy right topped or hit fat for 140 yards. I trust Irons way way way more.

    Need help to solve a golf problem: I am constantly driving just off the fairway (maybe 15-20 yards) into areas with trees that are thinly positioned, but which have low hanging branches (maybe 10 ft high) that block my re-entry onto the fairway. I have to hit a shot LOW so as to avoid hitting those branches, and punch the ball back onto the fairway. I have a slow swing speed of about 88 mph (so that is a factor). What club should I be using that will hit at least 70 yards, but fly low to the ground. (Note: These areas I am hitting out of sometimes have grass and sometimes mostly just dirt with very small pebbles imbedded. (Note: I am a short male, age 60, with an inseam of 29 inches, and I do mostly 3/4 swings. I have been using a shortened 5 hybrid, graphite regular shaft, with mixed results.) Should I be using a different type club? Would a 4 iron be a bad choice, given my slower swing speed? Does a shorter shaft help to keep the trajectory low?

    What do you consider a low/high speed player? I’m swinging my 4 hybrid around 85-90 mph,

    Im must friendly with long iron. I didnt know why im using hybrid clubs, its always hit the ground when im down swing and made the big devot before ball although im really feel good when back swing.
    tks for ur clip!!^^

    What about removing a wedge at the bottom of the bag to make way for 2i off the tee and 5/7 W from fway coming into par 5s?

    • @meandmygolf.
      @meandmygolf.  4 года назад +1

      You can definitely do that. It just depends on what you need and will use more on the course.

    How about both? Eg,3 or 4 iron as longest iron and a hybrid with a 4/5 wood loft? I see so many amateurs who swing so slowly(myself included) that a 3 wood is pointless for them and that club could be easily replaced with a hybrid.

    • @meandmygolf.
      @meandmygolf.  4 года назад +1

      Definitely can do that also.👍🏻

    Should my hybrid have the same loft as the iron I’m replacing it with or should it have a little more loft

    Still have 3 iron Taylor Made360 which suits my game and the course I play. I also have a 2 iron which i take off the tee when a driver is to much club. There are 3 or 4 holes where driver leaves ver difficult yardage.

    Hybrids 4, 5, 6 are money. 7i to LW and 3W, 5W is how to get it done

    I’m a mid speed player and I’ve tried hybrids and I hate them I’d rather have an equivalent wood. 4 iron down 3/5 wood classic setup

    What were the lofts on each club? Are you not getting the height because of the loft differences?

    • @meandmygolf.
      @meandmygolf.  4 года назад +1

      I think they were the same lofts mo. The design in the head is what creates the height.

  • @Cesar-Avila

    Surprised they really didn’t touch on shot shaping with hybrids. Irons are typically easier for better plays to hit a low or high fade/draw or low stinger fade/draw

    For someone who gets enough speed but struggles more with strike on longer irons what would you suggest?

    • @meandmygolf.
      @meandmygolf.  4 года назад +1

      Either look at improving your contact through coaching or test the hybrids and see if you feel they can add anything to your game
