I am a very good iron player and I am trying to relearn driver as I stopped using it the past two years and mainly tee off with my 4 and 2 iron. Thank you for this video! Hopefully I can get this thing back in the bag
You guys are so good at what you do! Been following you guys for years and always come through so clutch with your teaching/drills/explanations! Keep up the good work 🙏
Currently introducing mynteen age son to golf and this video is PACKED with cracking advice on swing, strike, body shape, head position, data point ...good luck getting that without a monitor. Oh use! a low barrier or a second tee target, brilliant! 👏 Thanks to you Piers and Andy for this one 🙏
I'm a new golfer as of last year. Your videos always have great information. Nobody really ever explains wrist angles at the top of your backswing or following through. This is my biggest problem at this time. Thank you
Just wanted to say thank you guys for the work you put in so we can get out there and hit better shots. Your doing a great job with helping us understand how to swing and hit it correctly.
Great video guys! Loved the 2 screens together with irons and driver! The problem I have with trying to get the low point before the ball with driver,I sometimes dump the club into the ground! And that will take your confidence away for a few rounds!! Is there any way to get the lowpoint before the ball but stop from hitting the ground?? Cheers
Thanks guys. Really great points. I could never find the low point with the way I've been swinging my golf club. I'm determined to stop topping the golf ball with my irons and I'd like to swing more around my body with my driver and be more consistent off the tee ultimately finding more fairways. As a high handicapper this is my goal this year.
@@meandmygolf. Hi there, maybe one of issue is inconsistent with club head. 70% of shots go like planned = straight. 15% a little right = open club and other 15% little left = close club. Maybe help needed in grip? My handicap is 16. Thanks in advance.
I struggle with staying stacked throughout my swing. I don't sway much, but my upper body tends to dip in the backswing and leans back in the through swing. A couple of swing thoughts would be great. Love the videos and the content.
@@meandmygolf. my wedges !! I have a tendency to pull them left! So frustrating, do you have any wedge tips or videos? Also I can sometimes get a shank only with my wedges ! Thank you for the reply 👍🏻👍🏻😀
New MAMG member and broke 90 for the first time this weekend, so thanks very much for that guys! I have a question about the “K Bomb” drill though. I feel I’m pretty upright with my driving, but get good contact. When I try the leaning more to the right, the ball comes off the heel every time. Any insight would be helpful. Keep up the great content ⛳️👍
Hi Josh. Well done on breaking 90!! Great question. You may be opening up the body too. If you aren't getting the result from it, don't do it. You have to go with what works. Now it's on to Break 80 this year.
Thanks again, guys. Brilliant as always. The most important point of information in the entire video is Piers' comment: "(The alignment stick) is the same color as my thong." Something we all really needed to know. LOL
Great Video as always - would have been good to also talk about fairway woods as well of the turf for par 5s - what swing does that need as it seems to me its more of a driver swing as opposed to an iron swing
Hope you enjoyed the video and you found this video. Great video. I understand the hip movement during the backswing and I feel pretty good about that. Where I have problems is with the very next move - which I think is the bump further forward with the hips. For some reason, I just can't seem to get the feel of shifting the hips further forward during the downswing. Could you possibly do a video on that? Thanks.
Hi, thank you so much for another amazing video. Can you help out with the difference between hitting a long iron and a short one. Basically I tend to duff the longer irons and perfectly hit the short ones. What is the correct distance to stand from the ball?
Can you do a video hitting irons straight. Even if my club face is straight on impact i always being told by others my feet are not pointed at the flag this is so frustrating. Thankyou, im also told im not keeping my head down and swinging to the inside .
I'm struggling to hit my driver off the ground. I've got a taylormade M3 reg shaft which I used to comfortably hit but ever since I got fitted for my irons (stiff shaft) and got used to them I've struggled with my driver. Is this because of the shaft/loft settings?. Is there a setting I could try? Roughly my ball speed is between 150-160. Does that mean my club head speed will be too fast for a regular shaft. Thank you
Not really David. It will vary between each person. As long as the low point is after with the irons and ideally before with the driver, that is ok. It will change depending on a number of things.
Hey fellas, got a quick question. I tend to be a very good iron player. I mean been told im the best at the club. Im a 3.8 handicap. Yesterday shot a 82 though worst in awhile. Driver has went a little haywire. I hit 3 drivers at 150 yards im an average carry of 280 or so when im hitting good. I contribute my iron play to im sure youre aware of the way Tommy Fleetwood follows through. Thats how i hit 90 percent of my irons feels like knockdowns. I was 45 percent fir but 66 percent gir. I feel im knocking down the driver instead of allowing a rehinge on the other side. I play good irons because i feel the swing allows a feeling of stability. Driver it doesn't transfer because its a different club and gets steery. What could that affect?
Not sure if this happens to anyone else but, when trying to hit up with driver, I tend to hit it fat. I bottom the club out before the ball and lose speed, distance, and consistency. My "good" drives only go 230-245yds and not very high. Will try these drills for sure once winter is over lol thank you!
Hi Shawn I think there is a big difference in trying to hit up and creating a good set up and pivot motion to do so. This is the important thing. Hope that makes sense?
how do you deal with people who have tight hip flexors? I have tried a million things to have shaft lean and lower my launch angle(currently at 28 degrees, carry around 165). i think my right leg gets stuck behind and i have to flip my hands and it creates a pull. i tried some airswings yesterday with my right foot about 2-3 closer to the ball than my left foot wihtout really changing hip direction. it feels like i can transfer my weight much easier and i'm able to turn. am i into something or what do you recommend? you guys are the best!
It all depends. There are ways to help rotation by changing foot position and leg work but it's also important to look at if there is anything in the technique that is causing compensations.
I watch a driver video, and get my driver doing about 45% of what the video says it should. Then my irons go to absolute shit. I watch an iron video, get them okay ish, then driver goes to shit. Even though I’m actively separating the two swings. And today I hit the range and couldn’t hit either. Bucket of balls hit 2 good balls. EVERYTHING was topped, driver AND iron. I don’t think YT instructional work 😂
So... why not keep golf simple and use a driving iron off the tee??? That way you only need one kind of swing???? I mean... most of us here are casual weekend golfers right?
Great video as always, I guess closing the face is more aggressive/important (earlier in the swing?)with the driver than the iron? Many thanks, cant wait to try out those drills….need to go and buy me a thong!
Hi Paul. I would say it's similar with both. WE do however see more rotation of the face with the driver through impact mainly due to speed. Thong thong thing thong thong 😂

Hi Gary. Fairway woods off the turf are definitely more like irons. The low point will still be after the ball (slightly).
This is such great content…given me several areas of consideration! So happy I discovered your channel!❤
So glad!
what do you use to measure the low point's distance from the ball origin?
Great video..but you need to mske one for long irons and woods
Thanks for the suggestion Ahmed

Hit the driver well but always have trouble with ball first with irons, told I have good hip action but still can,t get my body forward enough
There may be something stopping you in the swing Kenn. I would check the face angle and also the arm length at the top.
Should a hybrid be hit more like an iron?
Is there an ideal inch amount for the low point? If so, what would they be for drivers and irons? Thank you!!
Not really David. It will vary between each person. As long as the low point is after with the irons and ideally before with the driver, that is ok. It will change depending on a number of things.

low point can also be considered furthest from chest.

How in the world is the low point with the iron behind the ball. I think your picture is a bit wrong.
The low point of the trouser leg is also crucial... 😬
😂😂 Crucial Stephen
So where is low point on 3, 5,7 woods, and low loft hybrids?
Hi Robert. Still after the golf ball like the irons. Just not as far past. The club is only hitting slightly down with the fairway woods and hybrids.
