I have 4 hybrids in the bag. 3 to 6 all hybrids. Love em
❇️ I recently put a 2 iron with a VeloCore shaft tipped and shortened > hybrids just don’t go far enough > I prefer to carry a 5 and 7 woods for higher shots ❇️ I play a coastal links style course with strong wind 💨
I'm just in the process of adding a 4 Hybrid to my bag, thinking it will help give me a better landing angle on the green. I love my 4 iron, hitting it about 205 yards but it doesn't come on high enough to stop quickly. So, your video today has encouraged me to test your theory. Thanks, Matt!
What a sweet set up Matt. I'm super excited to see the content that is gonna come out of this room over the winter season. I'd never leave that room. 😂 love you brother. Keep up the hard work!
How cool is that lowering your screen 👍🏻 you big show off but I love it 🏌🏻♂️⛳️
That was gangsta 👍
I love that setup, congratulations on making your dreams come true and sharing them with all of us! I am a hybrid fan all the way, I only use my 4 iron as self protection :)
Thanks for the idea
We have a driver to drive with, a putter to putt with, a wedge to hit out of the sand with, so having a hybrid to hit out of the rough with makes perfect sense. Not necessarily a fan of hybrids but I put one in the bag just for that purpose and I love it.
Matt great video. I know you said your using the divot action mat. Is that the hole piece? Looks like it accommodates lefty’s and righties. What size is it in total? I’d like to purchase the same set up.or is the mat your standing on separate and you cut out the square for the divot mat?
Great advice, that's how I have my bag setup, 20.5* 4 Iron and a 22* Hybrid, basically match distance but different ball flight, love the channel
Thank you for this examples. Just came in the right time. Not exactly my problem, but gives me an idea what to do. Had a gap between my 5iron and my 7 wood. Gonna try a 3 hybrid between them. Encourages me that it will not roll out too far. Not everybody can test this just at home. Great work! Keep it up!👍🏻
I have an M2 hybrid and a Ping #4 Crossover, both at 22 degrees. When I make solid contact with the hybrid, I'm more than pleased, but the same holds true for the Crossover iron. The odds that I'll hit the hybrid as I'd like are not good, and they're much higher if I use the Crossover iron. The head on the hybrid is so smallish ..., but the Crossover is so much like a standard iron that I have full confidence in it, which doesn't suggest that a great shot will follow. That's the problem for me ... I can't find the confidence to attack with my hybrid whereas with the Crossover I'm on it. Too busy playing golf to head to the practice area. I play with guys who have a bag full of woods/hybrids ... I'm always amazed but can't seem to join that party. Still following your Mr SG videos. Hope you enjoy GA humidity ... not always easy.
I think it's good to see more relatable distances from a golfer as good and knowledgeable as you. I think that helps those who may be thinking they need to hit bomb balls, that there are so many other factors to playing good golf. Love the vids
Hey Matt. How do you like the DivotAction mat? If have an indoor simulator. I have the Fiberbuilt mat, but hitting off that mat is like hitting a flyer with every club. Great for the elbow, but not realistic unless you want to practice from the ball sitting up in light rough all day (I live in Georgia like you...NOTHING sits up like that on Bermuda grass until it goes dormant in the winter). Your new mat looks intriguing. Does it feel at least close to hitting off turf? Is the shock absorption solid? Really interested in your opinion because the Fiberbuilt is driving me nuts.
I did a lot of testing and for me I chose to go 3,5,7 woods, 5 and 6 hybrids. I can shorten up on my 3 wood for a lower punch, launch higher but similar carry with 5 wood, 7 wood gives me more height, carry and roll than my 4 iron, and steeper descent with 5 and 6 hybrids than similar irons. Younger players scoff at my choices, but they shut up when they see the results. Out of curiosity, I'd like to see you compare 7 wood to 4 iron. Thanks for the great content!!
Just bought an epic hybrid. With the callaway adjustment it can go up to basically a 3 hybrid or down 1 degree. Found it invaluable in the bag. Replacing a wood and driving iron.
I've done a similar thing, but also added the 2nd variable of Draw & Fade Clubs being built into these clubs as well. I started by making my 5 iron into the loft of a Bladed 4 iron - 24 degrees - and using a 110gram graphite shaft (lighter than my irons) to help increase the peak height of my longest iron - and it's a 5-yard Fade club. My 21 Degree #4 Hybrid is slightly longer, higher and 10 yards Draw. My 16-degree Hybrid is my next 'lower' longer Fade club and by 18-degree 5wood is my 'higher' Draw club
Great advice I took my long Irons out of the bag, then played a course with a lot of trees, there are many times the low short is a must.
Very cool setup you have MSG!👌👍👍. After learning how to hit long iron from watching your video, i am so happy to be able to play long par 3 that are 190 - 210 yds now 🙂. Thanks a million for great tips and easy to understand drills and techniques!🙏
Cool space..
I'm thinking about a monitor/simulator room. Canadian winters hamper golf. So I'm doing the research for the best value and versatility . My mission is to have all my clubs dialed in for the start of next season.. All your videos are so helpful
And I love that SandAction I saw during the installation of your room and that divit action looks sick, your the man for sure
Posting this just to clarify ... the mat devices are DivotAction™️ and SandAction™️
Would love to hear your thought process for leaving the 3 wood out of the bag.
Just recently I’ve also found the 3 Wood to not have as much value as I’ve gotten better with the driver. I’m not one to go for the green in 2 when hole length is 500+ on a par 5.
Thanks Matt, I am in my 60's and find hybrids better for me. I hit my hybrid 5 higher and longer than my 5 iron. The longest iron I carry now is a 7. I have an extra set (actually a couple of them) and made up of different manufacturers hybrids. Someone gave me a Taylor Burner ladies 5. I don't know what heck is with that hybrid but I crush it. I buy many of the clubs used or people give them to me.
I pretty much have the same club set up, but went for a 4-wood / 3-hybrid and ditched the 3/5 wood. 3-wood was tough to hit from the deck and 5-wood balloons out from the tee box. I also prefer having more options closer to the green with 4 wedges over the rare occurrence of having to hit the green from 210+ yards, which has a low success rate anyway.
This was good I have been struggling to know which one to use.
I carry a 22* 4i and a 25* hybrid. very similar total distance, but the hybrid sticks greens like an 8i. then use the 4i to manage wind.
Your exactly right because that’s what I use them both for for the rough one for the wind / for distance and one for high for entering the greens 2 hybrid and 2 hybrid is what I use
Great set-up. Great content as usual. My hybrids have a draw bias, and I fade the irons. I am more accurate with irons but balls don't always hold the green with long irons. Yea, I know I sound like the pros at a U.S. Open. Would getting fitted for hybrids help?
My thinking with long irons and hybrids is that you shouldn’t have too many hybrids. Personally I have never liked 3 woods. So I carry driver, 3 hybrid, 4,5,6,7,8,9, pitching wedges 60 56 53 and putter. I might pit a 2 iron in the bag. I think hybrids are more risky (easier to slice) than long irons. They may be harder to hit but they go straighter. In my opinion by the way. But hybrids are easier out of the rough Also you can really manipulate the loft of a iron more than a hybrid. This was a good video. Thanks
I use a single length Cobra 19 degree hybrid for punching out of trouble and into the wind shots. In general the flight of the 7 iron shafted Hybrids is lower than a conventional hybrid. My longest iron is a 6 iron! my 3,4,5 irons are replaced by Cobra F9 19, F8 22, F8 25 degree Hybrids, which suits my slower swing speed ( 85-90 mp with Driver)
Good advice, I was toying with the same thing. Your review has helped me a lot. Great room 👍
I have a 7w and 4 iron in the bag. Love the 7w. Matches the look of my other woods.
7w is low key amazing
Great content as always. I was trying to find the website where you purchased your impact screen from, but was not able to find it. Can you please share the link to their website. Thanks.
Thanks for the video. You shed some light on the differences. Good video.
Is it harder to hit long irons from range mats? I rarely make a good connection when using long irons at the range and because of that i just never use them while playing.
Thanks that comment explains why I struggle so much with my 5 iron at the range.
Great topic, Matt. Haven't heard this discussed before. Makes alot of sense. Thanks!
ALL One length hybrids for the win! ;)
Great video! I think it is also important to mention that hybrids are much easier to hit for most of us mid to high hcpers 😜
Depending on your swing. I play an upright swing like Jack, Payne or Bubba. I can hit long irons all day. Hybrids are a work in progress.
Love the content man! Learning to play golf and I’ve learned a lot here!
What I usually base my choice on a far as if I want to use a hybrid or the long iron is ground conditions. If the ball is setting up I will choose the hybrid. If my ball is like between a little indention in the ground, I will hit the iron. Or if the ball is below my feet, I feel more confident with the iron. And use the hybrid as my rescue when I am under some trees and want to keep it low.
My 2 hybrid is my favorite club in the bag!
So glad this came out! I play with a 4h and 4i and thought it was a little weird.
I only use a 3 hybrid but have debated this whole year to add a 4 hybrid i like both they each have there own benefits
Love the morning uploads!!
Another great Video. Droooling over your setup. Just out of interest, have you tried the Hybrid by Mazel?
A bought a 4 hybrid to hit off soggy ground since I often hit behind the ball even though I hit my 3 and 4 irons pretty good for a high handicapper. I hit the hybrid so well I bought a 3 hybrid. For me I carry a 3&4 iron and a 3&4 hybrid and don’t carry any woods other than my driver.
Great variety of content. I love what you are doing and I wish you well with your channel. Paul
H#3,H#5, 5-pw for me. Thank you for the Net tip, balls hit drop to the right was a fade, drop str8 is a str8 shot, drop to left was a draw .
NICE "Happy Place" escape to room! Love the remote controlled screen! Can I come visit?
I carry a 2 iron hybrid and top iron is a 4. I can hit the hybrid further but can choke down to make it hit like my 4 iron. I hit 210 with hybrid 2=2iron and 190 with 4 iron. I like the way I can play with hybrid to get close to 210 or 190. Where I play there is no roll, thats all carry.
Would be interesting to see hybrid Vs wood.
land angle is one thing, spin is also critical.
Personally, I have a 20* hybrid and a 21* 4i in the bag... different scenarios to use each one.
Great advice Matt, thanks a lot, it really clarified things for me. Barry
Great break down.
would love to chat with you about golf thinking about really starting to play only have been like 5x max
Woww!!!! Congrats! You have a great room to practice!
How do you like the divot action mat
Love it
I understand your rationale, however given most higher handicap players can usually benefit from a bit more distance, I’d say why not go with a 3 hybrid instead. Additionally, said players typically aren’t as consistent with a 4i anyway (IMHO).
I use a TM 3H and 4H...never been good with 3/4 irons...but I’m a high handicapper 😕
Looks like a great teaching room.
Good information.
Looks like the room is coming together. Did you have someone design your layout? As always well done.
Early voting begins down here October 12.
I'm so freaking jealous of that room. I would love to set up a budget version of that at my house, but my darn ceilings aren't high enough.
At age 72, I answered this question before I watched the video. Hybrids are easier to hit than long irons for those of us with slower swing speeds. I carry a 20 degree, 25 degree and on some courses a 30 degree hybrid. My 1992 Lynx Parallax beryllium irons at 5 iron is 28 degrees. These irons are 4 degrees weaker across the board than current irons. I hit all my irons high and the hybrids are medium but land soft on greens.
How much did that room setup cost?
Oh snap!! Your moving up in the world, a golf simulator.. NICE!!
Sweet set up.
I took my 3iron out of my set and replaced it with a 3hybrid. I wasn't hitting my 3iron worth a darn!! I think for me it was a good trade!!
I carry a M4 hybrid and a 4 iron that covers the same distance. I mostly use the hybrid as I don’t feel comfortable with the 4 iron 🤣
I have that screen as well, but since I’m not a RUclips star mine is a manual up/down 😂
Nice set up 🤙. little question for you, i got hard time to play fairway bunker, could you give me some tips?
Dont try to get the iron under the ball as you would do on the fairway. Take a stable stance, Try to hit the ball in a 1/4 or 1/5 of its back part. It will fly about 10% less than on the fairway so add one club for the distance. Try it ! Invest a training unit! You will be astonished.😉
Artytry Dwarf thanks, I Will try it 😃🤙
@@erichubert6318 you're welcome ✌🏻
I just love your new set up so much, one can dream I suppose lol I would be in that room every free minute of my life practicing ha and I usually use a iron I don't own anything good just some very old power circles lol
Good info my man.
I use a 23* hybrid over my 22* 4 iron. I hit my hybrid 215 and 4 iron 205.
Hybrid shifts are too long IMO.
As always, uber-awesome advice!!!
Great video. Keep up the great work.🏌️
Only 14 clubs? Drive, 5W, 3H, 4i-PW, 4 wedges, and putter? Isn't that 15 clubs? Or does the set end on 9i and *then* we count specialty wedges?
Information on mat that you use
Love the screen.
You da man! Fancy screen you need a picture or two. I’ll send you one of me😂😂
great video, but hard to swing iron 4 and 5 for me... LOL
What pants are you wearing in this video. I really like the look of them.
I've been trying to figure that out too. I suspect something by from the brand Travis Mathew, but I'm not sure.
Didn't even have time to watch yet and I liked video your the man!!! Honesty bro ,,, it's easy !!!
I love a 2 iron my favourite club
You need a mr short game logo on the screen! Branding!
Hybrids are more adjustable. I think long irons are better for more traditional and more professional players. Hybrids require less power but probably less shot shaping. I think a lot of pros don't use rely on hybrids.
Mr SG opening w/ a MAJOR FLEX
Good ideas
I have 2-4 hybird in my bag...
2i stingers into the wind, hard fairways and runs forever
Hybrids from rough, with the wind, steep descend
Love the intro. LoL.
Good timing for me on the vid, I'm trying to decide if I should add a hybrid to my bag.
I can’t hit hybrids to save my life, so I tossed them got a 7 wood and 9 wood. I hit them so good, I don’t slice em like I did the hybrids.
Be like Me grab both and use when u want
Nice...
🙏
they have arrived
the kid arrived
me: get a freaking impact screen already...
matt fisher: *click* hummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
your setup is killer, probably going to make my wife mad in the future when I copy you.
My wife made me promise to not do this in the den, she didn't say anything about the garage. mwahahaha!!!
What a Goofy Intro! Wow! 👏 you're so cool 😎 LOL
19 degree 4 iron? Thats not a 4 iron that's false advertisment to sell it as a longer club. Time to skip the 1 through PW and just start call all irons by there loft. My 15 year old bladed 2 iron is 19 degrees.
I’ll bet you hit more in PJ’s.....
