I feel like A24 is the only studio actually taking chances on original ideas and I got to say I’m a big fan of them for it. Maybe other studios can learn from them and we can finally start having quality instead of quantity in cinema.
I agree, I just wish they weren't moving towards a unified style/ color grade. I want to look at a still from a movie and say, "Oh that's that movie", not, "Oh, that's an A24 movie"
Yeah, but A24 ain’t all that either, there projects are very “unique” , but they aren’t all good, my personal favorites are uncut gems and midsommar and mid90s and the lighthouse
Maybe try watching more movies, then. 🤷🏽♂️
You'll find some gems with Magnet, Drafthouse, and XYZ Films.
A24 is a company created for enthusiast film lovers like us. They're like if Criterion made movies. But I disagree with you saying they're the only ones taking risks. Dozens of critical acclaimed movies are released every year, hundreds and thousands if you also watch Chinese, Chinese-Taiwanese, Chinese-Hong Kong, Japanese, Korean, Indian, German, British and French film industries.
A24 has cemented their place as the best studio of this decade. Their track record speaks for itself
Who actually works for them? Like what producers, directors, writers, actually work for the company? Where can I find this information?
@@bosstechnology23 Probably Google if you type in what you commented.
@@bosstechnology23from what I’ve heard A24 just produces the movies and helps fund them, so they don’t have any actual set team that creates movies. They help develop and release people’s passion projects basically.
For some goofy nonsense Lmfao
A24 simply bought the rights to be able to distribute it in North America, they didn’t create, fund or produce the movie.
There were multiple studios including Universal that all were bidding for the rights and A24 won.
One of the best contemporary horror films I’ve seen. Unnerving, unsettling, and had the whole cinema audience on the edge of their seats and gasping out loud. It is fantastic to see a youth-centric horror film that isn’t corny or cringe like other teen horror flicks. It takes a classic “summoning the dead gone wrong” concept, but delivers it in a refreshing, quirky and disturbing way. Also it was wonderful to see an Australian film done so naturally, without playing to overdone Australian clichès of the bush and landscape. It felt authentic. Overall, a very memorable film on par with other A24 horror successes like Hereditary.

this movie had my jaw on the floor. sophie wilde knocked it out of the park and so did zoe terakes and chris alosio. some particular scenes with riley were were insane. the ending left me feeling empty yet wanting more. really hoping for a sequel because this cast had some impeccable chemistry. really wish this movie could have made it to the two hour mark because it was amazing. an amazing directorial debut for the racka racka brothers hope they do more horror movies
Props to A24 for distributing this project. But bigger props go to the film makers for getting it funded and filmed before A24 had even heard of it.
I want understand to what you’re trying to say. Are you saying the film makers are getting credit?
Props to the filmmakers for making film!
@@picantepatricio i think a common misconception with A24 is that some people think they are producing these movies or are involved in the creative process of the film making, as far as I know A24 is the distributors of the movies, they aren't making the movies. It looks like a healthy throwback to early 2000's "prop" horror. Plus I LOVE a new cinema monster. Excited for this!
RUclips is shadowing my clean comments they acting like a lil biatch
I agree with you!! Although, I’m not excited as feel it’s overdone. What does this movie add in terms of story or plot that hasn’t already been explored? It’s not apparent from the trailer.

This movie was fantastic in the cinema, it has great character development and transitions from reality to the paranormal so well without trying too hard. The ending wraps the story up well where you aren't left with any questions about what is next and it doesn't feel like the ending is rushed. Amazing.
Just back from the cinema, I gotta admit movies that make people think about it after you walk out of the hall is great.
This one makes me think a lot, it is definitely one of the scariest movies of recent years, it looks like a teen horror from the outside, but on the inside, it's something deeper.
And the horror of the movie is suffocating, highly recommended!
So proud of Danny and Michael for making their projects come true. Been a fan of their work for years and super excited to watch their latest work
Same old demon possession horror film. Nothing seems special about it.
@@OsceolaNola7 You've seen it? Send me the link...
@@OsceolaNola7 of course its the same old because the story of possession is timeless, we just add a modern twist to it like making it a viral TikTok meme. modernising old stories is what the whole storytelling industry is built on.

This trailer is so well made in sense of Audio, visuals & background music. The way it chants RUN RUN in the end of it sends chills. Definitely looking forward to the movie.

@@stephenwong8053that's what I was hearing too!
The Audio especially! In trailer, it really draws me in. I turned it up to hear the dialogue better and then the background score and noise enthralled me that much more
This was one of the best horror movies I've seen in a while. Refreshingly original editing, good pacing, great cast, fun comedic moments, and very, very chilling, without relying on too many jumpscares. I'm a huge horror movie buff and I even covered my face with a blanket a few times lol.

I saw this yesterday and was pleasantly surprised. If you go in with reasonable expectations this film will surprise you. Don’t listen to all the hype and stay away from the trailers, the less you know the better off you’ll be going into this. I mean dude. I’m sorry for what you went through but don’t generalize all parents.
There is some parents that would do anything for their children including sacrificing their personal dream and life for their kids happiness.
These actors have acted so well!
One of the best horror movies of the last few years for me. Aside from a few violent scenes (when the little brother binds his hand), the film is also very profound. It's about self-discovery, loneliness, depression/trauma. I even understood the ghost hand game as a metaphor of drug use. It gets you insanely high, you want more of it, but at the same time it destroys your life and your family. Gradually you lose your mind more and more.
Great film, visually well done and acting performances were also top
100% agree.
No spoilers in the trailer comments dude. But glad you liked it.
These are the guys that have crazy, twisted dreams and end up putting it into a script the minute they wake up! The creativity behind the minds at A24 is astounding! These folks have managed to bring forth pictures that we’ve never seen nor been able to imagine! And I’m loving it! Can’t wait to see what else they bring to the table!
this movie wasn't produced by A24, they're just the distributors, it was made by RackaRacka
A24 has an amazing talent in picking movies for production / distribution and with that probably putting many on the map that wouldn't have been put on the map. at this point their reputation will also automatically give a movie credibility and if you ask me, they're now pretty much THE company giving the horror genre real relevance again.
but they don't actually make movies themselves. or at least not that I know of.
This movie is actually the film debut of a couple of Aussie brothers, as mentioned RackaRacka on RUclips. It’s awesome!
@themightypotato3857 A24 didn't have anything to do with this film, it was produced independently. A24 won the rights for distribution after a bidding war at Sundance where this film premiered.
This feels like a really good quality take on a concept we've seen dozens and dozens of times before. Not really a criticism, but not every movie needs to reinvent the wheel. There's something to be said for doing the same thing extremely well.
I just watched this movie tonight and I will tell you this I am a big fan of horror movie and this one is the only movie since I was a kid gave me goosebumps. The suspense, the scream, every scene will catch your breath and I love it . Overall this was very well played . Cannot wait for a sequel

One of the most wildernesss horror movie I can ever imagine...A truly supernatural nightmare...
I like how the camera moves in this trailer. The Phillipou Brothers really know how to make the camerawork pop, even on a noticeable small budget.
Thanks for the info, I plan on making a low budget independent movie one day, and I will study their work to improve my craft.
Friendly reminder that A24 didn't "make" this film. They acquired it for distribution in the US, and let's definitely be thankful that they did! But the credit for "making" this one goes to Causeway Films (production company behind The Babadook!!!), Bankside Films, and Talk to Me Holdings (presumably the directors' production company?), and the directors themselves are the Australian youtubers RackaRacka, known for making really shocking viral videos that probably traumatized you years ago.
If you want to credit the creatives behind this, make sure you're crediting the right people for the right things :D
They are the creators and directors and such, but A24 does a great job on distribution with these films and their past films. They have their own vibe in what they choose to acquire. That’s why most people praise and say “A24, I’m gonna see it if it’s A24!”
Just like transformers movies.
The new one is directed by someone else. Not micheal bay. Who produced it still, but people will always say, “Damn the new transformers movie is going to be crazy action packed! Can’t Wait” because of Michael bays presentation of their past films he directed.
Twisted pictures will always be a SAW movie production co.
So when I see that logo of theirs before a new saw movie, I get excited.
@@Miguel21ification Okay but if Universal had won the bidding war and distributed it you'd probably just ignore it and write it off as a shitty teen horror movie, when it's exactly the same film.
@@looney1023 Universal has its ups and downs with horror films which is why whenever Universal distributes a horror movie, most of the general public will think that it’s shit unlike A24, which has a very good reputation for horror movie distribution. (Hereditary, Lamb, The Witch, Pearl, Midsommar, The Lighthouse etc.)
imo I’ll get hyped as well if the horror movie is A24
@@looney1023 still, A24 is well worshipped for their picks.
I’m sure you get excited when they release a trailer and see that logo of theirs come on screen first.
@@Miguel21ification I get excited when I see a movie trailer that looks good, regardless of the production company. I lost my shit for the Tar trailer. And Barbarian's trailer (a film A24 passed on).
I'm just saying that y'all are worshipping a distributor for "creating" things that are "saving cinema," but not acknowledging the actual creatives responsible for the product, and ignoring other films that are just as important and influential because they're distributed by someone else.
I just watched this. Now I am a big horror fan, but no movie has made me feel nausea from stress. I was genuinely so pent up in the horror scenes, the couple next to us left after the second big horror scene, and my date and I squeezed each others arms most of the fam. Very good movie!
Would you say it's an allegory for street drug use? Like, it starts out as a recreational thing but at some point you can't quit and things turn violent?

I felt beaten and tossed around after the viewing, the tension is through the rough, and the scares hit hard (with zero jumpscares). I like this movie's idea because it combines the traditional "Ouija board/cursed object" horror plot with a grief and adrenaline rush addiction narrative.
