Brad Gillis deserves props for stepping in. He did a phenomenal job at a most difficult time.
Exactly right Ken. Great call Sir.
I saw them on that tour. Brad Gillis was badass on that tour.
Yes Sir 🔥🤘
Absolutely, Brad did a great job during a very difficult time for Ozzy and the band!
Exactly, being able to step in for Randy on such short notice. They tried one guy before him and he blew it...some blues player but I know Brad Gillis by name because this shit makes him a legend.
Ozzy did a great job re-recording his vocals in the studio.
I Thought that sounded strange.
You say that the voice heard in the recording is not the original? Is it a studio recording that was later added to the video? I've heard other bands have done the same thing in their live albums. Really a shame
There was NOBODY as qualified as Brad Gillis for helping Ozzy continue this tour. Brad was top shelf brilliance on guitar in all Ozzy recordings he was involved in. Ozzy knows how to pick'em for sure!
T
+Shitposting Black Sabbath Fanboy (Ninten) You're preaching to the choir... and it's ok to compliment another guitarist.
+Shitposting Black Sabbath Fanboy (Ninten) oh ok... you should get a tattoo that says Randy Rhoads is better haha. For real tho I and the rest of humanity agrees with you. Nobody arguing that... just saying...
You, Sir, are right on. This lineup was just about as close to perfect as you could get after Randy died.
Dont forget Berni Torme!!! Irish Guitarist that took over a few weeks after the accident & had some creepy stories about Randys pedal boards fucking up almost trying to change for him at certain points in songs!!!!
Man. What Brad Gillis did this tour goes down in history. Legend. The Speak of the Devil album (hard to find - Sharon tossed it from the catalog, I had to buy it online from a kid in Japan) is one of the best sounding, most tight live albums I have heard in a long time. Don't miss it!
Hate to be that guy but it’s mostly overdubs on it. But still the band playing and the only studio recordings we got with this awesome lineup
Sucks, grew up with this album and Amazon music does not have it.

Who gives a f@ck??
Had the vinyl. Deciphered the code.
Randy Rhoads RIP.
Brad Gillis, did a hell of a great job rescuing that tour after Randy died. 🤘🏻🎸🤘🏻
Brad Gillis did an AMAZING job!!!🤘🤘🤘
OZZY’s Voice sounds amazing.
Overdub is amazing
Cocaine
Overdubbed vocals. Too bad. I would like to have kept him raw.
I believe the drums and keyboards are live. The rest is probably overdubbed for MTV and promos.
Why does it sound like Ozzy is singing twice on a song?
"Steal Away (The Night)" in Irvine Meadows, CA on June 12, 1982 on the Diary of a Madman tour
I trying to get up!
Brad Gillis. Chest hair and whammy bars.
Brings back good memories 🎤
They filmed this at Irvine? Never knew that. It's called Verizon Wireless Amphitheater now but u think they're tearing it down this year.
Love you Ozzy
Brad’s tone is epic!
EPIC!
For sure
God I love the diary of a Madman tour stage, lights and everything,
Ozzy, Brad Gillis, Rudy Sarzo and Tommy Aldridge is probably the best lineup Ozzy had after Randy Rhoads died. I love Zakk Wylde, but this lineup was just smokin' and Speak of the Devil is one of THE most underrated live albums EVER. Ozzy sounded great, Rudy Sarzo showed what a great bass player he truly is (when he's not licking his bass in Whitesnake), Tommy Aldridge...nuff said, and Brad Gillis just slayed. People forget what a gifted player and shredder Gillis is because of the more commercially oriented Night Ranger music. When he was with Ozzy, this band was just killer.
They were special :) This live album is legendary.
I have to disagree. After Randy, the best lineup was Jake, Tommy, Bob and Don for Bark at the Moon
Glory Ride totally agree brad wouldn’t have made anything good for Izzy if he stayed, just copying others is all he had that’s why he chose night ranger enough said, jake e lee definitely all day
You got that right , I wish these idiots would understand . Gillis is a spooky playing , chugga chugga machine with Hendrix melody.
@@InfluenzerMusic meh
Brad did such an amazing job considering the situation
Brad never gets enough credit for or mentioned when it comes to great ozzy guitarists
Randy Rhodes was a genius we all miss him a lot. He was one of a kind R.I.P
This concert blew me away at 12 years old in October 1982 when first aired . Took up the old acoustic guitar and since have played guitar and loved heavy metal. This show still brings a tear to my eye how awesome it is to hear and see.
Oh yes. I was 12 as well
@@savedforever1 me too
Me too
Me too
Randy Rhoads will never ever, ever be replaced. Randy was a temporary gift to the world but a great gift nonetheless. Those of us who got to see the Oz man and Rhoads together can die happy.
I agree. It's a shame he made such a stupid decision as he did, to go up on that plane. He achieved martyr status though, even though many, including Brad Gillis here, were just as good.
1:05 that's how you play the bass
Heh. I never understood that buffoonery but I like it.
No it’s NOT how you play the bass
Thank you Bob Daisley, the X-Factor and true Madman.
Randy died march 19. This concert was held only 3 months after the death of Ozzys best friend and guitarist. Cant help getting all these feels
yea only three months after and they claim they have "no footage" of randy 😒 bs
Such an awesome voice!! Sung so well even at his shows!
Vocals here are over dubbed.
3 months after the death of Randy Rhoads. R.I.P.
Brad Gillis for me is one of the most underrated guitarrist I've ever seen, this guy is like George Lynch, fast, creative and with a lot amazing skills.
Speak of the devil, still one of best albums ozzy ever released.
One of the best emotional but still very heavy classics from the early solo days. I love this song so much it brings tears to my eyes. I love you Ozzy! You are the best!!
I love this song so much too. When I first heard it, it was part of the mystery of Ozzy and his Blizzard and then Diary albums. It was a magical time :)
It makes the hair stand up on my facelol
Brad sounds great here, never understood the hate.
This guy learned hours of songs in such a short amount of time and I challenge anyone to do the same under the same amount of pressure this guy was under replacing Randy on the tour.
WTF! I feel ashamed that i back in the day didn't pay more attention to how GOOD a replacement Brad Gillis was after Randy's demise. I was only 14 yrs old when he died but I Still Remember..
i don't know if y'all realize this or not but BRAD GILLIS totally stepped up!!!!!!
I cannot understand how they had full pro video production right AFTER Randy died but not in two years prior.
Is nobody gonna talk about that stage set up? Like something out of Spinal Tap. Epic af!
Yeah all thats missing is the dancing dwarves.
Rudy knew how to slap that bASS 😂
gillis was a natural. a ear like no other for . he made some melody lines on songs here that sound like they could a been on the actual first two albums.
That is a great way to put it Charles. His ear must have been so phenomenal, how else could he nail the melodic chords, tempo of that incredible rhythm section, and athletic soloing. He is so incredible on Speak of the Devil. He had it all: he made Ozzy's voice ring out with harmony because his backing rhythm tone was so good. He was also in the pocket so hard, on everything. Wow. A natural. I like that!
Rudy Sarzo is so over the top, it’s awesome!
Brad gillis is awesome, he learned from the book of Randy, that's why we get to watch things like this
He learned it in a few days
We need this on cd or else😀😀😀😀😀🥰
Ozzy , I offer 20,000 for the original soundboard recording of this. I love the rawness of a untouched recording of this. My favorite televised concert ever!
yep, wouldn't even mind for ozzy's vocal track ;)
I can't believe Brad Gillis didn't stick around the Blizzard of Ozzy, and wasted his time with Night Ranger!
Awesome yet underrated song! Rock on!!
Wow looks like a great concert! Brad Gillis and Ozzy's voice is incredible.🎤🎶🎸🎵🤘
The audio over dub on this video is almost flawless.
(you can catch the vid sync during some drum fills that don't match the audio and also when Rudy makes his "moves" instead of actually playing)
My oh my ohhh my Gillis is on fire.
Y'know, a reunion tour with this exact line up is still humanly possible. Just sain'.
It is.
Lee Kerslake is dead
@@jalel_z2867 Lee Kerslake isn't playing drums Tommy Aldridge is, so it's still possible.
Brad Gillis, man that dude can play some cool guitar.
"I hire only the best people" - Ozzy
Then fucks most of them over.
...but first takes credit for their work
Great sound. Gillis did a great job. In A SHORT AMOUNT OF TIME. TRAGIC RANDY PASSING
Ozzy phenomenal entertainer of our generation no doubt about it sometimes I see Ozzy as how far you could take your self. Great song let be rebellious rules tonight how great is that 👍 Ozzy Ozzy sobriety fuckin sucks.
Wooooow !!!!¡My Crazy Ozzy 🤘I love your Madness. I love you my Rockers Favorite.✌️🤘😈🎸🎶🎤👍💪
I can’t believe the lyrical genius packed in these lyrics, all of Ozzy’s lyrics. Such a message, that I haven’t gotten yet. But it’s inspiring my writing so profoundly.
The Floyd Rose master.
I love Ozzy ❣️
OZZY-HERO №1!
You fans Are the reason I don't wanna stop.. never stop dreaming much love and gratitude to you all

Fantastic! Old times

Nice over dub on the Ozzman’s vocals. Oh, well. He is still awesome!!
My god to be young again, we didnt give a crap what our parents thought about ozzy man listening to this was and is still just so god damn liberating! Ozz man forever!
I was at this show. Great memories. My friend Bobby Barth's band Axe opened. Incredible show.
Garry Harville your cool and lucky
Axe friggin blew!
Garry Harville did they play no bone movies between I don't know and believer? Seems like there is a splice there in continuity.
SmittyHeWasNumber1 he don't know he wasn't there and the band axe is garbage
Thank you!! I’ve never seen that. Ozzy and band!!
When I was younger, I never fit in in within high school. I was always "too" something to ever work. There was this girl that I really loved who never knew that I was alive. She was nice to me I think just due to her being nice. She dated guys who abused her, threw her, and shot themselves when she dumped them. We never went out, but I would dream of running away with her to this song.
Sometimes, though I was aware that it was fake (I was not mad), it was all that kept me alive inside. I saw us driving in a fiberglass 80's sports car far away from everything.
While much happier today, I do wonder sometimes what life woulda' been if we had stolen away the night.I once offered and she said, "If only...." and nothing.
We were 16, so not a good idea hahahaha.
Not that I miss her today, I am happily married in fact, but it does make one wonder....? We woulda' likely been arrested, starved, or shed'a cheated on me for a wife beater hahahaha.
Great song.
~Sam
Awww, thanks for sharing Sam....
Another amazing guitar player from the 1980s.... Bradley Gillis.
3:35 what warm distortion. Brad and tube boogie heads.
Sounds exactly like the album. INCREDIBLE
Mr Bob Daisley....talent
Ozzy at his peak of his rock career...there has not been a better concert than this..only comparable to live after death by Iron Maiden
So if we have HD video of Brad Gillis, does that mean we have HD video of Randy like this too?
OzzyRareTracks That's exactly what I'm wondering. There has to be some HD Randy footage from the same tour.
Mainly because Brad joined the band not long after Randy's death.
The main reason we have HD footage of this part of the Diary Of A Madman tour, is that this was shot for the live album “Speak Of The Devil,” which was planned to be recorded with Randy, but unfortunately he passed away, and they had not shot any footage from what I know.
Maybe it's just me but after a group loses a band member there is a lot of videos on the replacement guy.
Ozzy losing Randy Rhoads, Metallica losing Cliff Burton, AC/DC losing Bon Scott...etc
There’s several pro live videos of Bon Scott. There’s a good reason the 80s was a decade with so few good concert videos. They were very expensive to make and people wasn’t really into them. So the bands used all the money on tv ads and music videos for MTV.
Rudy Sarzo sin duda el mejor bajista que tuvo Ozzy a su lado..!
brad are great guitarist, thats why ozzy needs him
OZZY!
Ozzy's voice live is A-1
I want this ozzy back :( he was so badass back then.
OzzyRareTracks so is axle rose
Tyler Barrett Goddamn idiot
The vocals were obviously patched up in the studio on this recording, and double-tracked. Ozzy was awesome, but he was never this good live. Look up the original undoctored Live at the Ritz Speak of the Devil (the album) recordings, they were really rough the first few songs until he warmed up. His voice was cracking really bad.
Someone was already producing him into oblivion at that point.
Saw the second half of this tour with Jake on guitar and Don Costa on bass! Costa was a monster bass player!!
its so awesome and pure.
Theres no special effects on instrument or voice it was all them back then. X.X
amazing
Forgetful Hatter : :)
My first concert was ozzy, tremendous performance and British musician, saw him in Los Angeles, New York, and Florida and the west-indies.
Amazing
Best stage set I've seen before or since. 🎸
Brad Gillis is a bad ass guitarist
OZZ MAN RULES!
If this would be the last show Of Randy rhoads , it will be greatest concert ever
are we really supposed to believe that there is no randy rhoads footage of this quality? this is months after randy died so to think there is none is hard to believe. cmon man release it already.
It’s suck a fuc%ing shame that we don’t have a quality video concert like this with Randy…..
ik 😢
I úsed to literally burn this record out.................when I was 15...................every fckin Sound sounds clear.......and Brad Gillis left an unforgettable mark in These recordings...........we should never Forget that >>Randy had died few months ago, only two men could stand such high pushed concert, Brad Gillis and jake e lee. Brad did it good and I don´t know why ....but speak of the devil is one if my favourite lives
Brads fat tone on this live album is one of the best. I honestly think he was the best and only guy at the time that could of pulled this off.
God damn right🎉
That was the best version of this song I’ve ever seen and Brad Gills kicked arse 🤘
Nice “Live in the studio “ vocals 🤪
LOL! not just Ozzy...
2:50-2:55.
Sarzo is clearly NOT playing what is on this video.
Fakery at its finest folks.
@@ognir66 ... yeah, I’m gonna say Rudy Sarzo was pretty much hired for his image than his playing.
💯 accurate
I , hope , this reaches you , Ozzy , I have been with you since , you walked the street with a empty guitar case , you see , you gave me , what I give to you , my name is tod , and I want to thank you and Black Sabbath , for helping me get thru , my teenage years , and beyond , Peace , Love and Understanding, thank you , tod , ...
one of the best show ever
I love how this starts when Randy’s playing
1:44 that's a monster guitar tone.
Was lucky enough to see the Blizzard tour and Diary tour. Both monster players.
Nice studio recording on the vocals.
those crazy kids and there rock n roll
damn this song is glory
Brad gilles had some big shoes to fill, and did his best . Then came nightranger Randy is one of the best guitarist.
GREAT QUALITY. Great music
Brad Gillis fuckin rips!! I love night ranger and his solo stuff too! Met him on the KISS kruise in 2013, guys so fuckin down to earth it’s not even funny! Long live rock and roll 🤘🤘
This is the only stage to be on the same level as KISS on the Love Gun tour...
Brad G ....greatness .. 2nd from Randy on Guitar with OZ till this day. F Zack! Distortion
Gillis Killin it loved this live album.
Is it from a live album??
