You say that the voice heard in the recording is not the original? Is it a studio recording that was later added to the video? I've heard other bands have done the same thing in their live albums. Really a shame

Man. What Brad Gillis did this tour goes down in history. Legend. The Speak of the Devil album (hard to find - Sharon tossed it from the catalog, I had to buy it online from a kid in Japan) is one of the best sounding, most tight live albums I have heard in a long time. Don't miss it!

Ozzy, Brad Gillis, Rudy Sarzo and Tommy Aldridge is probably the best lineup Ozzy had after Randy Rhoads died. I love Zakk Wylde, but this lineup was just smokin' and Speak of the Devil is one of THE most underrated live albums EVER. Ozzy sounded great, Rudy Sarzo showed what a great bass player he truly is (when he's not licking his bass in Whitesnake), Tommy Aldridge...nuff said, and Brad Gillis just slayed. People forget what a gifted player and shredder Gillis is because of the more commercially oriented Night Ranger music. When he was with Ozzy, this band was just killer.

That is a great way to put it Charles. His ear must have been so phenomenal, how else could he nail the melodic chords, tempo of that incredible rhythm section, and athletic soloing. He is so incredible on Speak of the Devil. He had it all: he made Ozzy's voice ring out with harmony because his backing rhythm tone was so good. He was also in the pocket so hard, on everything. Wow. A natural. I like that!

When I was younger, I never fit in in within high school. I was always "too" something to ever work. There was this girl that I really loved who never knew that I was alive. She was nice to me I think just due to her being nice. She dated guys who abused her, threw her, and shot themselves when she dumped them. We never went out, but I would dream of running away with her to this song.
Sometimes, though I was aware that it was fake (I was not mad), it was all that kept me alive inside. I saw us driving in a fiberglass 80's sports car far away from everything.
While much happier today, I do wonder sometimes what life woulda' been if we had stolen away the night.I once offered and she said, "If only...." and nothing.
We were 16, so not a good idea hahahaha.
Not that I miss her today, I am happily married in fact, but it does make one wonder....? We woulda' likely been arrested, starved, or shed'a cheated on me for a wife beater hahahaha.
    Great song.
    ~Sam

The main reason we have HD footage of this part of the Diary Of A Madman tour, is that this was shot for the live album “Speak Of The Devil,” which was planned to be recorded with Randy, but unfortunately he passed away, and they had not shot any footage from what I know.

Maybe it's just me but after a group loses a band member there is a lot of videos on the replacement guy.
Ozzy losing Randy Rhoads, Metallica losing Cliff Burton, AC/DC losing Bon Scott...etc

    •  2 года назад

There’s several pro live videos of Bon Scott. There’s a good reason the 80s was a decade with so few good concert videos. They were very expensive to make and people wasn’t really into them. So the bands used all the money on tv ads and music videos for MTV.

Look up the original undoctored Live at the Ritz Speak of the Devil (the album) recordings, they were really rough the first few songs until he warmed up. His voice was cracking really bad.

I úsed to literally burn this record out.................when I was 15...................every fckin Sound sounds clear.......and Brad Gillis left an unforgettable mark in These recordings...........we should never Forget that >>Randy had died few months ago, only two men could stand such high pushed concert, Brad Gillis and jake e lee. Brad did it good and I don´t know why ....but speak of the devil is one if my favourite lives

Brads fat tone on this live album is one of the best. I honestly think he was the best and only guy at the time that could of pulled this off.

@@ognir66 ... yeah, I’m gonna say Rudy Sarzo was pretty much hired for his image than his playing.
