It seems as though Andy Rooney has always been in my life in one way or another. I I have always appreciated his point of view. I look forward to more years of Andy Rooney, reading what he still has to write. Thank you Andy.
Rest in Peace, Andy Rooney. I have enjoyed watching your essays all of these years. I'm so sorry you are gone. My deepest sympathy to your family and friends.
I was just watching the 70's on CNN and for some reason, Andy Rooney came to mind. I havent heard about him in a while and didnt know that he passed away over 4 years ago. I always liked watching him on 60 minutes, He was one of the best
a man i loved to watch when i was growing up in the 80's, i didnt not understand very much then, i watched him in the 90's going to high school and i was beginning to study and began to know and understand a lot, now it is 2011, and i find myself crying over the loss of a great icon in journalism and in the world. a power unmatched, as he said writers tell the truth, i will miss that, i never saw or heard of another writer saying that on tv. thank you for the great memories RIP Andy Rooney
Tears in my eyes and I saw this for the second time, I love you Mr. Rooney, you have made my life filled the facts that are in your mine. I am a Jamaican, and from I was in Jamaica to now I have watched 60 Minutes, and you 3-5 minutes were the best part of it, I wish I could have told you that face to face, but then knowing who you are, you probably wouldn't even reply :) Rest in Peace my friend the world misses you- from Jamaica with love...
It's like he knew he was soon going to die. The story of his life was made as his final broadcast. Say what you want, but I think of him as a great man. God bless Rooney!
I have to give a farewell to Andy Rooney. I'm 43 years old now, and I started watching the show with my grandfather in the mid eighties. He never missed an episode of 60 Minutes. He loved the show, and he once told me that the Andy Rooney segments were his favorite part of the show. He died almost 20 years ago, and I've continued watching the show to this very day. This is truly the end of an era. I admit that Andy Rooney can be a jerk, but I do respect him as a TV personality. Thank you, Sir.
i will miss you .you always mad me smile and mad me laugh .i always look forward every sunday looking at the last part of 60 mins to see what your going to talk about . 1 time a long time ago i was in the hospital for a few days and my father got me your book it was it was the best thing for my stay there. r i p my good friend i will miss you
Oh, Andy we will miss you. But we will leave with your words thanks to the digital world. What a legend, what a writer you are. Have a good time as long as you live in this world.
I have EXTREMELY strong feelings and a very deep understanding about a lot of things, especially in politics, but whether or not I ever dis-agreed with Mr. Andy Rooney, I can never say that I ever dis-respected him, nor stopped admiring him, and that is very significant.
I feel as if my grandfather has died. Rest in Peace, Grampa Rooney. You made a big difference in this world. Thanks so much. Yes, you were a lucky man. But, in truth, we are the lucky ones to have been able to able to hear your words all these many long years.
Thanks Andy. Would love to have you as a guest to the National World War Two Museum in New Orleans. It would be great to have you give an oral history of your experiences as a reporter with the 8th Air Force. Historians will research them forever. Hope this gets to you.
Andy would find it redunded for me to feel sad that he has passed. He would say to me, "Dude, I was 92." You inspired me to be original and that's something any writer should be proud of. Congratulations Andy, on living a wonderful life
Andy Roney may all your new adventures be as rewarding as the one you've had here. Thanks for all the laughs and the courage to clean out my kitchen gadget drawer!
"If all the truth were known about everything in the world, it would be a better place to live." Count me as a person that disagrees. A world with perfect knowledge would be the most boring thing ever. God bless our quest for further knowledge and the opportunity to keep learning.
"A writers' job is to tell the truth. I believe that if all the truth were known about everything in the world it would be a better place to live." RIP Andy Rooney.
Bodybuilder Mike Matarazzo didn't die--he was hiding out in Andy Rooney's eyebrows. Now that Andy Rooney died, Mike Matarrazo is ready to get back into full fledge bodybuilding competition.
"A writer's job is to tell the truth." What would Andy think of the writing on FOX, CNN or MSNBC today where the writer's job is to pull the people of our country apart with half facts or half truths and even lies, presented as fact? Trump called it "fake news" even though his own inflated boasting contributed to the word garbage. Rest in Peace Andy. You were an American treasure. ❤️
I loved what this guy did so much I made my own videos like his. He's been a great inspiration at A Few Thoughts. I miss this guy. Don't forget to read his books too. Wonderful stuff.
For some reason this reminds me of Carlin's "2 minute warning bit." It feels like Andy knew he would die soon, and he had one last thing to say. It wasn't some grand lecture on the meaning of life, but a simple thank you.
A man of contrasts, Andy Rooney managed to be the most ornery beloved public figure in America. He will be missed. Rest in Peace, and try not to piss off the angels in Heaven or anything, ok? Ah heck, you'll just do it your way! We loved you!
I have to admit, I might have said "Hey Andy" if I saw him in person. I've enjoyed listening and laughing to this guy....he was the real reason I watched 60 minutes. Hopefully he'll pull a Brett Favre and come back to TV....
It's been 11 years since the late Andy Rooney made his final regular appearance on "60 Minutes" aired on October 2nd, 2011; he died a month and 2 days later at the age of 92.
always loved his work. I wish I could ask him why he says in this piece, "Being liked is nice" and then towards the end he says "It's hard to accept being liked".
His commentaries had a very wide appeal, i recall being 10 watching 60 minutes with my mother, and finding his commentary segements interesting. rip andy.
I wondered the same thing The first time he said it i think he meant it in general. Most people think it's nice to be liked. But for Andy he thought it was hard to accept.
God bless you Andy. Now you can write for yourself and at your leisure too! As an ENT physician I couldn't help noticing the lesion on your mid-upper lip. To me it appears to be a fibroma and , if so, it would be a benign small tumor that can be removed easily under local anesthesia. But I'm sure you have already checked it out: however, if you haven't,please don't ignore it.
Andy is awesome, and I couldn't agree more: the world would be a better place without all the secrets held by people, companies, politicians and governments. And I know it sounds like commie/hippy nonsense but mankind would benefit if we all worked together instead of in competition.
He was great. He was sometimes an arsehole and he knew it, but he was not without care or understanding. He was at times disrespectful, both on screen and in person- but it was never without purpose or TRUTH which he embodied in full. RIP Mr. Rooney, you were sometimes painful- but always painfully true. Your words or demeanor were never as hurtful as knowing we'll never see you or read your words until we meet on the other side. Take care, screen friend.
I was surprised to find myself across a table from Andy & his wife in 1986. A drunken evening passed & I teased him about how he got onto 60 minutes. His wife, who apparently hated him, told me, and what she said is too shocking to repeat. Casting couch kind of stuff, and . . . well, it was nasty. I was surprised to hear he praises her here this way. She seemed to detest him & said what she did to a stranger? (Me?)
@1995nineteen what an immature comment. He was a charming, intelligent man, who was a prolific writer and commentator of the most mundane aspects of life. If you are too young and immature to understand that go away. I'd like to see you at his age
@MrGrevy I'm pretty sure the exact same sentiments, minus the legend part, will be spoken upon your long-overdue and hopefully, hysterically ironic final day.
It seems as though Andy Rooney has always been in my life in one way or another. I I have always appreciated his point of view. I look forward to more years of Andy Rooney, reading what he still has to write. Thank you Andy.

Thank so much for those wonderful years you've given to CBS, and TV. Rest in peace :)

Noooo! :/ R.I.P. Loved hearing him talk.
Happy trails Andy!
Hey Andy. You are such a wonderful person. I hope I could shake your hand.
RIP Andy Rooney. Enjoyed his commentaries, he was so true on a lot of stuff. Probably the best part of 60 Minutes, it won't be the same.
God bless you, Andy, and thank you.
Best to you Andy...

Journalism has lost a giant RIP Andy you will be sorely missed.
“I will always be a writer”. I can bet he continued to write for the last 33 days of his life 😊
I loved what this guy did so much I made my own videos like his. He's been a great inspiration at A Few Thoughts. I miss this guy. Don't forget to read his books too. Wonderful stuff.

Andy had something we're all sadly lacking in....common sense. Its too bad he didn't get to enjoy retirement.
A man of contrasts, Andy Rooney managed to be the most ornery beloved public figure in America. He will be missed.
Rest in Peace, and try not to piss off the angels in Heaven or anything, ok? Ah heck, you'll just do it your way! We loved you!
Loved him on 60 Minutes, loved his books. R.I.P. Andy.
Great man!!

Great sign off Andy, Farewell for now.

I Believe This Was A Video Clip Of CBS News' 60 Minutes' Report On Andy Rooney: "My Lucky Life" On Sunday Evening, October 2, 2011.
Andy is awesome, and I couldn't agree more: the world would be a better place without all the secrets held by people, companies, politicians and governments. And I know it sounds like commie/hippy nonsense but mankind would benefit if we all worked together instead of in competition.
RIP Andy Rooney.
Damn, Andy. I was hoping to suffer more of your appearances on 60 minutes.
You were the best part.
From what did Andy die?
RIP Good sir.
RIP Andy ....

@sipfan I was going to respond to MrGrevy, but after watching this video he isn't worth acknowledging. Andy was the man.
"A great testimonial given from a great man."
Even if that were true, he'd still have contributed more to society than you ever will.
Great!
RIP Andy!

What a crummy way to go - complications from minor surgery. Pity, he won't get to complain about the lousy job the hospital did.
RIP from Japan
Angels, let Andy eat his dinner in peace.

@RaijinHanshi He is an atheist, he is dead, he cant hear your well-wishings. But we should remember him for his opinions and thoughts...
in response to 2:50-52, your welcome, rest in peace, andy.
