Did he have regular Complete Metabolic Panels twice a year? That would show elevated liver enyzmes. I had to request it from my doctor because she didn't care to check despite my strange symptoms. You have to demand to be checked, to get a yearly physical. It's not going to happen unless you ask, as the Lord says, Ask and you shall receive!

I did my blood test yesterday after 5 weeks of 100% no carbohydrates no sugar no fruits no starch no red meat diet. My Liver panel test result shown AST , ALT , GGT level all perfect! Far from its top range. Just 5 weeks. My fatty liver is reversed to healthy normal. I lost 4-5kg just from dieting and stop eating after 7pm till next day lunch. 2 meals a day. Only boiled using water, steam Fish , tofu , cabbage broccoli veggies , chicken breast , black coffee no sugar for afternoon lunch and green tea no sugar during evening dinner not later than 7pm. After 7pm I fast till next day lunch 12pm. The fasting time is extremely important as this time allows digestion and some hunger which makes our body burn the fat within without exercising. Exercising barely able to reach the fat around our liver. So fasting is the effective way. I had No milk (contain high fat and high sugar) . No snacks. No all kind of bread which still are carbohydrates. No cake. No biscuits. No rice. No noodles. No fruits especially as it’s fructose are directly process only by our liver! Just 5 weeks and fatty liver is back to normal with proven liver function blood test compared to my previous test result 5 weeks ago. I feel very lively light and positive. I lost 5kg. Also My cholesterol and sugar level were also extremely good blood test result! I m looking way younger and my body is nicer too. I m 33 years old male. Non smoker non alcoholic. Didn’t work in a toxic environment. I didn’t exercise. But I ate much rice , fatty red meat, and milk and cookies and fruits. I slept late before. Now I kicked those bad habit n bad diet. After recovered from fatty liver, I continue my way of eating n fasting n sleeping time. I reintroduced some healthy carbohydrates back into my diet. Such as some corn carrot , some wheat bread, a little potatoes. Please make sure u do not overdo it. I really mean only some. Lack of discipline and taking it for granted will cause regrets. I’m sharing for mankind and for those who were helpless from useless doctors. And I’m sharing in memory of my late father who passed away due to end stage liver disease.

Lewis BIG Huber: my mom suffered (now once in few months) from leg cramps and what helped was pickle juice. Yes, pickle juice from a jar of pickles. It only took her a small sip and they went away. Every night I put a baby jar with a tablespoon of pickle juice and when the leg cramps would wake her, she drank 1/2and that did the trick. Did that for about a month then I bought magnesium oil (liquid from a spray bottle: *swanson brand *swansonvitamin.com) and every night before bed I spray the bottom of her feet and put socks on her. If she get a cramp then spray and rub the area and it lessens quickly. Hope this helps and that you get relief from those leg cramps.

Thank you for setting the record straight on this SERIOUS health risk. I was diagnosed with NAFLD 2 years ago and NONE of my doctors have told me any of this valuable information, also, they do not even mention it in my routine physicals since they do not regard NAFLD as a serious threat to my health. This is the very first time I have been instructed on eliminating SUGAR in my diet to reduce the inflammation and ultimately reverse the condition. My eyes have finally been opened but I do blame the lack of information with the swanky doctors (highly compensated specialists including: Cardiologists, Endocrinologists and Gastroenterologists) and their failure to dispense the proper information. Very unsettling. Thank you, Dr. Berry!

Sorry folks for some reason I just now saw that I got responses on this. What I did was pretty much went low-carb lifestyle and cut out alcohol completely for about 7 months and then only had a glass here and there for celebrations. I changed all sweeteners I used for cooking and baking to monk fruit sugar or stevia. I cut out most anything with wheat and began using low carb product breads , a lot are almond flour based. I followed mostly keto style recipes and some paleo style . I read all ingredient on labels and try to eat as “clean” as I can meaning Whole Foods whenever possible. I lost 36lbs without even changing or adding a whole lot of exercise. I huge plus for me was to follow keto lifestyle bloggers on social media which is where I learned a lot of new substitutes for cooking and recipes. I have continued this lifestyle now 16 months later after diagnoses and 6 months after I got a normal ultrasound and my NAFLD was gone . This is the easiest and best change in eating habits I have ever made my whole 55 years of life. I love it! Good luck to you all and god bless

Unfortunately, the doctors still continue to give insulin to their patients to treat diabetes, just treating the symptoms, not the root cause of the disease. Patients are not getting educated and informed about their disease process and continue to follow the food pyramid model, more and more carbs, less lean meats.
I'm a RN, and I see this being done on a daily basis.

If you can't give up the carbs, make sure they're actually nutritious, like legumes instead of grains. Legumes are around 20 calories per gram of protein, while grains are around 70 calories per gram of protein. Lean meats are of course around 5-6 and fatty meats around 15-16. So it's actually much harder to fuel your body with the amino acids it needs with carby foods. Meat and vegetables are the way to go. Carbohydrates are for intense exercise. And sugar's actually just a toxin.

Dr. Berry-we need more physicians like you. The first doctor I went to as an adult kept telling me that I had "elevated liver enzymes" but never explained what that was. He wanted me to wait 3 months and do another blood test. No change in diet, no medication, no changes of any kind. 3 months and a blood test, another 3 months and a blood test. After several times of this, he didn't know what to do so he ordered an ultrasound. 10 minutes and $800 later, "you have elevated liver enzymes" and wanted a specialist to do a liver biopsy. I did not have that done. My blood work recently showed liver was "normal" whatever that means. I'm on keto, doing as well as I can. STILL can't get away from small amounts of sugar in vegetables, but I want to see what happens in 6 months with next blood panel. THANK YOU for being here.

    • @whatevergoesforme5129
      @whatevergoesforme5129 6 лет назад +9

Yes, indeed. In the past, doctors used to laugh at Eastern medicine (and this was during my brother's early years as a doctor in the 90s). However, my brother has always taken a conservative approach to medicine which was not popular during that time. He is against having surgeries if a natural cure is an option. He believes that surgery is the last option. He is also against synthetic drugs or chemo and again will say it should be the last option LOL. At first, I hated him for insisting that we try this medicinal herb or that alternative food before taking antibiotics but now I realize that bacteria can be resistant to antibiotics and mutate or that our body can actually heal itself if we just eat right. Now, I am forcing myself to take what my brother prescribes like turmeric, cinnamon, green tea, other herbs and spices as part of my diet. He doesn't want me to take painkillers (as usual). I don't want to put down Western medicine but you are right, Bill, that Eastern and Western medicine should be combined

I am a 26 yo female.. i am 5 ft 4 inches.. have always been 120-125 in weight.
about 2 years ago i got extremely depressed and lazy.. ate fast food twice a day everyday.. ate hot fries nearly everyday.. i started noticing this fullness near my spleen and would get this VERY uncomfortable feeling when I ate. i constantly had to have pressure against my abdomen to "appease" the pain, which really didn't work.. after noticing my weight gain(20 pounds) I Scheduled an appoint with my doc and after several tests and appointments with specialists i was diagnosed with fatty liver.
I know for me, I never realized how delicate my body really is. we only see the outside of our body.. not whats inside so its easy to forget or overlook certain things.. watch what you put into yourself. worry more about what your insides look like rather than the outside.. and that in turn will even adjust how you look on the outside.
Don't eat fast food, and if you do make it occasional.
Fatty liver has completely killed my confidence and my energy. Don't allow yourself to get to the worst point before making a change... yeah.. i get it. i'm not obese, but it still affects me mentally.
I'm not confident and i hate how i look and feel.
i had always been health conscious and worked out, but its been a lot more difficult for me to get that started again

Buy a cheap water distiller on Amazon and throw out the plastic catch bottle that comes with it. Put a large glass pitcher under the drip nozzle and pour the water into glass jars. I have 5, 1/2 gal Mason jars I keep full and only use it for cooking, ice and drinking. I put a jar with a metal band and lid on them. Works great, the distiller cost me about $80.00. Also important to stop consuming oils, such as vegetable and canola etc. That really soft layer of fat around your waist and other parts of your body are the oils in your fat cells.
So give up oils apart from olive oil, rice bran oil, avocado oil. And you should actually reduce the good oils significantly too. And the fat will start to fade away.
      Stop eating breads too.

I was diagnosed with this, fatty liver, after I moved into an apartment that had been painted inside with exterior paint. The fumes were overwhelming. I got so sick and went to the doctor who diagnosed me with fatty liver. He told me to quit drinking. I never drank anything but distilled water. I have always been a "health food nut," so my diet was not the problem. I moved out of that toxic environment and started taking everything that I knew of for liver problems. I did get better. BTW, I never take things like Tylenol...ever. Never eat fake food, like high fructose corn oil or any of those fake fats like canola...I won't buy anything that has those ingredients. I was in my early forties at that time I got sick and am now 72... and healthy. The doctor did not give me any medications. I ate exactly as you are listed (still do)...basically real food. I did take milk thistle.

Yes, and stop taking sugars, simple carbs and starches. Apple cider vinegar during a meal helps too by lowering insulin levels after the meal. Thanks Dr Ken - another good video :)

Did they at least tell you to lose weight/quit drinking? Not trying to be offensive, I have no idea about your weight but I know we tell patients that before having a gastric bypass, they actually tell them to quit eating carbs for 2 weeks before because it'll slim down the liver and make it easier to do the surgery. It's amazing how some doctors forget to use common advice from one area of practice to apply it to another

I started the keto diet, didn't tell my Dr because I know that most Drs do not agree with this. It's my body and my responsibility to fix it. Most Drs just want to push these meds.

A high fat diet (even healthy fats) does cause weight gain and can lead to fatty liver. Sometimes meds are needed, sometimes meds save and extend lives. I know these things based on personal experience. “Keto” is trendy and very much hyped, although can be a necessary way to eat as a diabetic. And it is also important to stop SIMPLE carbs but one can do this without going “Keto”.

Melissa Horn I’ve had three Endocrinologist told me it’s a wonderful diet. It’s also not a trend because it’s been around since the 1920s... they give it to kids with epilepsy. No it is not the only way to diet...
