I don’t buy & sell, I find & sell. In my apartment complex people are always leaving stuff at the dumpster, I just bring it home & flip it! It’s not a lot of money at all but I get a little dough while connecting things that almost went into the land fill with the people who need them.
I live in an apartment too. I collected a few old broke laptops. I don't know whether anybody wants them
@@MAbdullah-zr9kc you could probably sell them for parts
Yep, we live in a wasteful society. People can't see treasure in what is thrown out
@@MAbdullah-zr9kcyes I want it
Would you mind sending it to my country. I'll love to turn this into a business. Those broken items or unwanted
One of the best side hustle videos I’ve seen. No hype, no “replace your income” promises, no advanced marketing. Just simple common sense
Exactly! No vagueness, no bs, like "you have to change your mindset and blahblah". Just straight to the point, basically buy low, sell high. Sure, nothing new and old as age but I appreciate in a vagueness polluted internet, where no one gives concrete advises and just talks around the bush all the time, someone just being real and talking about actually making money instead of mental masturbating about some woowoo concepts, that never are translatable into real action.
I had a similar start up. I had £30 & brought 10 plain white t-shirts. I got out my paints & did some stencil designs. They all sold for £10 each. 300% profit on everything I repeated the process for years. It quickly got to 500 t-shirt sales per week & evolved to other clothing. The best days of my life. 😊
My son when he was 14 convinced me to drive him to this guys house to buy a chainsaw...my son had never used one before. He bought it for $50...resold it the next day for $100. He then did this with computers and iphones all the time. He is older now and doesn't do this but it really opened my eyes.
Your son is very clever but that sounds really scary. A chainsaw? lol
Somewhere, an IRS agent is grinning evilly while watching this video...
Like you, I flipped a bunch of stuff over two years time and bought the Jeep I always wanted. It wasn't new, but it wasn't old either. Paid $29,000 cash. I still have it. And it was all made possible from flipped items.
Any tips you can give? My dream is to buy a jeep too, and have no idea where to start :(
@@izziiebabee BIG TIP! When you are selling an item and they make you an offer for less - JUST SAY NO! Come up with a reason why it is worth the money you are offering it for and shut up. Don't say a word...Let them talk next. They either can walk away, or say I'll take it. If you've had a hard time selling it and don't want to lose this buyer and they chose to walk away, that's where you can offer a small discount for them to take it now. Often a tiny discount will make them feel like they "won" and they'll buy it. You can also say you have several other interested potential buyers, but they were the first to contact you so you contacted them first to buy it.
Wow! That's amazing! Congratulations! Thank you for sharing such an inspiring story
I’m terrible at selling. I usually just want to get rid of stuff, that I sell it cheap. I know a couple of people that can flip products and I admire you all. Keep up the good work.

I’m that lazy sucker that sells stuff at a ridiculous price because I am impatient to get it out of the house! I am fully aware that people might resell it, I just can’t be bothered… until this video!!! Lol I might be more patient now! Thanks Nicole!
$50000 in 4 years is awesome! Not too far from a living for some of us.
you have a wonderful personality, I reallly enjoyed this video, you kept saying I know that's not much but then you bought yourself a car and you kept saying I know this isn't much, it's great.
Girl!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣I love this. I’ve pulled stuff like old Furniture from the trash, refurbished it, sometimes just wiped it down and sold it!!! For ALoT!!! 😅so much fun!
I got a box of industrial equipment from a russian guy in a flea market. Most of those New Old Stock things. Bought the whole box for $50, made about 3k proffit.
I started selling on eBay because I would find really cool items secondhand. I spent a lot of time researching things. Like, a lot a lot. I learned that this advice is very true, start with what you know. For some things, knowing about an item takes a lifetime of knowledge. Like coin collecting. Or stamps. Dolls. Etc. I sell mostly jewelry now. Because it's always been one of my favorite things and it's SMALL.
eBay fees makes it harder to sell stuff at a decent price.
@@ebikescrapper3925Ebay is the worst.
I used to flip from thrift to ebay. And I can tell you that there are amazing deals out there. I bought 2 books one time at the thrift store. Not first editions, nothing special. Sold 1 for $125 and the other for $400. Multiple dress shoes for $5 into $100+, etc. It really blows my mind what you can find.
30 years ago my mom needed extra income, she’d go to all the garage sales and buy a bunch of stuff, then take the stuff to the swap meet, and sell the stuff double or triple and made a nice profit
My mom did the same thing. 😂
Thanks for sharing. I also flip as a side hustle. I started with extra stuff I had around the house. Then I started buying stuff at thrift stores and selling for a profit. I have made thousands over the last 4 years by just listing 5-10 things a week. What worked well: furnitures, xmas tree stands, curtains and rods, small electronics, small appliances, wood outdoor furniture (I just do a quick sand and stain), outdoor tools, snow boots, large baby items like minikitchen or slide, lego/tous/kids bikes, snow pants, kids floating jackets, boardgames.
Wow, I love watching your new videos and seeing how you are exactly the same authentic self even when you first got started. Great job Nicole! It’s crazy how we all get started.
Just an fyi, I’m binging on all of your videos….. I’m a newbie and I’m hooked !!!.
You are a natural story teller; entertaining & real.
Thank-you for the video!
I also sell a lot of things on marketplace, even cars, and I love it
Here in lower 48, The " Eternal" Revenue service is looking at Everyone and Everything - We must be ever " Wary" ..............
Be prepared to deal w/alot of flaky people, alot of no shows, and waiting for people....plus be prepared to have rm to store all this stuff that u hope will sell....
yes a place to store it, can be perplexing
Yes! Please make more flipping videos! Working towards FIRE too... long way off for me. I have been selling all kinds of extras from my house- furniture and kitchen stuff. Some things sell great, others not so much... Always wanting to learn more! :)
Yep, I've been doing it for 36 years. Started at a flea market when I was 15 years old. Bought 3 houses in one day at age 29 with that loot. .... MANY stories :)
Hi thank you so much for another great video, I’m not good at selling but I’m really interested in starting doing what you did, I would really appreciate a step by step guide so I can make some money too
Have a blessed day
Thanks again 😊
Glad it worked out for you. It never worked out for me. I think the market is saturated with people flipping. They want way more money than the item is worth. Or if your selling they almost want it for free. At least than was my experience.
It depends what the people are like where you live. When I lived in Australia, flipping was easy in Sydney and Brisbane. Now that I’m back in England in my home city (in South West England), everybody wants things for free. Anything I’ve sold on eBay in the UK has been sold to people all over the UK, except from any city in South West England. They’re all tight fisted.
@@thebritishindian1 In Europe we tend to spend way less..
@@thebritishindian1I’m on the Gold Coast & have tried on Facebook marketplace, but most people want free on there or pay practically nothing. Have also tried gumtree. Things have changed from a few years ago.
And what can't anybody get from Temu for the price of a bright shiny nickel? If ya flip you have to pay a premium to store stuff, so the numbers just don't add up.
I was a vintage clothing and antiques dealer pre-internet and even then expecting to turn a profit was indeed a fool's game.
Bottom line: the sheer amount of goods and services far outweigh the amount of paying customers in any given market. A few with the midas touch may succeed in flipping but it isn't true for most of us.
U just don’t kno how to sell
Thanks Nicole for bringing this to folks attention. You’re brilliant for niching down with flipping. I used to go to estate sale auctions. I had to learn about soooo many things, mostly antique like quilts, old cookie jars and silverware was what i learned to concentrate on. It got me through some tough times. My neighbor used to go to warehouse auctions and buy huge boxes of kids clothing (new w/“tags) and then sort them into sizes and put together little school or play outfits and small wardrobe combos. These sold very well on Ebay. Hope this helps someone.
Hi Nicole, I love to buy and sell stuff and I am actually pretty good at it. One time I purchased a beautiful stained glass lamp shade for the ceiling for $4.00 dollars at a consignment store and sold it for 200.00 dollars. I was so excited that I tried to do it again and I purchased a beautiful doll for $8.00 dollars at the same consignment shop and I sold it for 100.00 . I don't have much time to flip stuff because I work full time. But I will dedicate more time to doing this when I retire. The thrill of the hunt is a lot of fun.
It is a great hobby! And very necessary
What is consignment,
Goodwill?
Why not just say that
Don't yo think he is being skeptical?
Cool! I found 20 bucks years ago and went to the pub and got trashed, met my wife and had 2 kids and put them both through college and it cost me about 100k just for schools! So can go both ways 😂
I thought you were going to say.....
I swapped the kids' guitar for a full-size one, then I swapped that for a $200 X..... swapped that for a $300 Y and so on.
I have actually seen something do that, and from memory, they ended up with an old house in the country 🤯😯🙏
I saw this as well and thought of it
I just give everything away haha. I can't be bothered having to deal with people
Wonderful outlook , please leave me your yacht , a thousand thank yous and happy long life.
Great video, my favourite flips are roof boxes for cars! I try and buy them around $100-200 and sell them for on average $500. They often come cheap as people have lost the keys but it’s very easy to buy replacement keys for all the big brands. Unfortunately I waste all my profit on rent lol! Fun fact your Canadian money looks exactly like our New Zealand money! 👍
Love this video. A couple of months ago I picked up a free wooden dining table. Fixed the table legs, gave it a nice white colour and someone picked it up for €60,- 🤩 I enjoyed the process too and it felt so good to fix something that wasn't that functional or beautiful anymore + give it a new life with someone 🙌🏼
Dropping 💎💎
Love flipping, thrill of the hunt too.
Get into estate sales, 📚 research is everything
I tried it in 2021, by selling think I didn’t need around the house but sold by the price I bought it inicial or for cheap ,and made 20€ but a lot I needed to sent by mail and it took up half to 1h in the mail to send it so I broke even and spent the 20€ buying other stuff, but learned that people buy the “ craziest things”, maybe I should try again😂
Good Video! I do exactly the same! Buying and selling on EBay!
Love the video thanks for sharing. I honestly no lie started flipping again this week. I’ve done it on and off throughout the years but been lazy with it. And yeah my experience has been similar in that there is money to be made flipping used stuff. It’s funny how the algorithm works I haven’t searched anything about flipping recently and your video just happened to pop up. This video is just a sign that this is the direction I need to take to get out of the debt I am in and get financially free. I plan to document my journey and post the content on my channel. Thanks so much again.
I'd love to see more flipping tips that doesn't involve owning a vehicle or muscles.
There are online thrift stores you can shop on and resell those things
This is very common but this is actually legit to make money.
wow. thank you youtube algorithm for this videos in my home page :)
Where do you source your items from ? Craigslist ? the local thrift shop ? where do you buy your items from ? Great video
I pick up free Ikea Malm dressers each day. Some days I have picked up 4-5 dressers. It’s especially the people that are moving house that need them out asap. I normally sell them on the same day for $100+ in profit. So far I have sold around 300 dressers in the past 2 years.
I'm along for this ride. Thank you, young lady.
Loved the video! Yes, I enjoy flipping random things also…especially curbside “freebie” finds!
Thanks Nicole, As a fellow cheapskate, I have to admire your resourcefulness. Been doing this for years as a side hustle. I rarely ever use my bank card, Just pay cash for everything. Once I found a really dirty beat-up bike in the garbage container in town and I removed the front and rear wheels, thinking I might be able to save the rims, but after a closer inspection, I saw the tires were good too, So I just cleaned it, treated it with armor-all so it looked almost new, than sold it in one day for $160- Cdn, Someone from another city drove here to pick it up and paid full price for it, I am really good at selling and marketing , also good at photography and image editing in Photoshop, so I edit every single picture I post on marketplace. Most of the time I have a few hundred $$$ in my pocket, but I still make my coffee and don't spend senselessly. It's all about discipline, that most ppl don't have.
Fabulous - love to see more - will check out other videos - thanks for being so transparent and motivating!
Thanks for sharing Nicole! I used to flip wii fit boards & replace parts for xbox 360 controllers on eBay as a kid
I done this for also several years over 14 yrs but mine is biying classic cars.. its been harder now since back then when i started i was buying your typical old grandparents cars for as little as 1200-5000 and reselling them.. but now with inflation theres no way you find those nice unmolested classic grandma cars for less then 10k 😆 but the key to this side Hussle is exactly what you said.. start with things you know at least a little of. Not some random thing that u have no clue what so ever.
Your video is so motivational Try this Getting businesses like used guitar shops to let You sell 4 them on consignment$$ have them agree to pay 25% commissions or take pictures 📸 and sell their inventory that way or keep at home 1 by 1 at a time
inspirational thanks
This is very smart, especially if you're disciplined. It's called arbitrage. When you buy low and sell high. There is eBay arbitrage at Etsy arbitrage mercari, arbitrage etc. Etc. It's fun! I used to sell stuff for other people but I got tired of dealing with other people. You're actually tempting me to go back to it just for fun as a side hustle cuz it is fun! Anywho, this was a neat little video.
Thank you! I’ve actually done this on a really small scale and it was a bit of fun. I got a new badass bike from picking up free bikes and then cleaning them up and selling. Also have a nice car rack that I didn’t pay for. 🙃
My next thing, I picked up a set of waders for $5.00. I’m unsure if they work well or not but I’m going to try to upsell them.
I want to be f.i.r.e. 🔥 too. I like that acronym.
Great video. I like the no hype approach.
Thank you for sharing. Love this.
Ya got me! I had to start at the beginning and to my surprise...you started as a reseller!! I've been reselling full-time on ebay since December 5th, 2016. Since then I've shipped 8,600+ itemes out of my basement.
My channel was called The Flippin' Hustler for the first 6 years because I buy things to flip and to make a living at it, you HAVE to Hustle. Then in 2022 I got the bright idea to change the name to Nostalgia Picker and here we are. I totally dig your content and I look forward to checking out more of it.
After watching your most recent video, here I am watching your first to see how it all started.

THIS IS THE BEST VIDEO IVE SEEN TODAY. BRAVO
I flip two furniture pieces. I'm currently trying to sell my 3rd piece but it's not going good. I put in some work to make it nice but still can't sell it which is a bummer.
Sell just to break even then move on to something else. It's a learning experience. Good luck!
fliping stuff dose not realy work , try to sale a bike got 8 mesages from scamers only , and on guitar stuff you will be able to sale only if you have wery low price like you are saling a 200$ gutar for 50$ try to sale it at 100 nobudy will bite , , photography ,phone and computer depisiate so fast you aways sale at lost ,
Flipping absolutely works. I have been successfully flipping for many years. You have to put a little time and effort into it, but it’s so worth it.
@@Cmp3520 ye it work if you are able to find stuff very cheap , and sell it very hi
You made over $10K a year! That counts as a side hustle. I do sell stuff on Facebook marketplace....so. thanks for this idea
Saving this for later. Adding to my Watch Later for sure. Thanks girlie. 😊 New subscriber!
I'm flipping iPods lol
That’s a damn interesting story! I mean that!
I'm a car nerd and I do Hot Wheels and model cars because I collected them since I was a kid. I once turned a 50 cent thrift store motorized Hot Wheels car into $5. I can kinda relate.
Lots of hidden fees with ebay, which is now owned by Amazon.
This is a great video, I really enjoyed your story!! Thank you!
😊❤️
Pls give me other ideas
🎉😂❤😮 wow great video
Spectacular! Thank you for such straightforward information.
what app do you use to track finances?
Do the ride along?
Thank-you, very good.
🙂 Great Stuff, would love to hear about your other tips on looking for deals to flip. I have sort dabbled a bit with the concept. However, where I live the second hand market is not that of Canada (I am a CDN expat living in Europe) but willing to try..Thx in advance and keep up the great videos....
Awesome thanks 🎉
@2:49 The rehash of the text conversation. I'm ded y'all!
Damn Nicole your a ice cold Hustler 😅out here making moves.
Good episode Nicole !!
don`t you have to pay taxes for doing this in larger scale where you live? Like register a company for it, since you are reselling stuff with the purpose of profit.
You don’t have to register a company, but yes it is taxable income.
I do this with guns.
Great video! :)
Some time ago I picked up furniture people put out from cleaning their garage, etc. The cost-?- driving there & driving it home, & time spent. 1st wkend yard sale I made 500$ on Saturday & 800$ on Sunday! All I had to do was clean off the furniture with a clean cloth! Also did same with clothing. 😊
What platform are you selling your stuff? Marketplace eBay?
I've only flipped few times unintentionally. Got a free beaten up antiqueish office drawer/desk when moving into a new house. Put it up for sale for £1000 as a joke. Somebody bought it...
and bought a graphics card just pre shortage for £150, used it for 3 years and sold it for £350 after.
Great job, or not a job?? Anyway keep in mind the good old tax people aren't chasing down the public for a few bucks, but some slug of a tax wiz and try and chase you down$50k would be a big score from some dedicated tax supercop, just saying. Again good for you!
Excellent. This is actually how stock dealing works and you can make way more money.
This is how I do it:
1) buy something random junk and stuff from temu
2) scam your friends
I've found that I enjoy selling things online and the whole process of the bargain, but I've never flipped an item before.
Something I definitely want to try my hand at.
Thanks for the awesome video!
This just does not feel ethical. It is why I have never been able to do this. So many people need decent stuff but flipping means going out there and buying stuff that is likely the only thing someone else can afford, and are flipping it for even more, next thing you know the second hand stores and such are over charging for most of their crap...
Evil
can you just progressively flip more and more expensive stuff ? great video :)
You're so beautiful, you look like Victoria Legrand ❤
Hi Nicole, thanks for the video; straight forward, informative and I like your style! Keep up the good work.
Mctuber out.
Interested!
So like, how does one address these profits in their taxes?
Don’t know about America, but here it goes on the line for self employment income.
This is how Future contracts also work.... But what about your time, gascosts and taxes on your income??
Nicole I’ve only recently found your videos. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and opinions you are so brilliant and I like your style.
Id make bronze warships and tell them how they were gifts and how they wound up riding a tiny rain gutter turbulent gush and I heard this chime, 'S. O. S'.
