- Pear extraction or pear harvesting is one of the most interesting things I’ve ever done! And making DIY pearl jewelry, pearl bracelets and earrings were really fun. Please enjoy(also sleep, study or relax!)

Just so folks know, you can buy oysters online from various retailers to do your own pearl extraction. The pearls inside, however, have been placed there manually for you to get out. Oysters absolutely do not usually have this many pearls in them; the company just knows that without a significant reward, they won't have happy customers who tell their friends and family to buy oysters online. There's a reason pearl jewelry is expensive; it takes a lot of oysters to make one necklace, and historically before they were farmed commercially for pearls you'd have to dive for them and just hope they happened to have pearls (most don't). So just like - be aware I guess. Oysters aren't actually like that.
you mean, like, grains of sand were put inside manually, as a seed? or, like, whole pearls?
Is the actual oyster itself then able to be eaten?
@@lizwildcatmunro2460 they are edible, if you don’t eat them in many culture it’s disrespectful to the animal, since you took their « treasure» then let it die for no reason
@@stupid_sleazoid2 no, they're fully grown pearls just inserted into a dead adult oyster. Usually they're the wonky shaped ones that can't be sold for a ton elsewhere. It depends on the seller where they're from though. You can REALLY get ripped off if you buy pearl oysters off, like, Wish. Don't do that. I think there are a couple of pearl oysters MLMs out there too, but I can't remember the names.
@@lizwildcatmunro2460 the oysters that we eat and the oysters that we use for pearl production are from two different families of oyster; pinctada for pearls, ostreidae for edible ones. I guess you _could_ eat a pearl oyster but I'm not sure why you would

When a grain of sand/debris gets stuck in their bodies, they ease the pain and irritation by coating it with multiples layers of nacre, the mineral that lines the inside of the shell and the pearl begins to form.

@@maijutub8264 A lot of sea creatures don't have nerves to feel pain so it's very reasonable to expect them not to

as someone who studied jewelry i could tell you'd be suited for it, since it's based mostly on hand dexterity, specially pearl/stone beads jewelry, great video and beautiful results
How and where can I study jewelry?
@@themidascurse4048 i guess it depends on where you live, in France and Spain, where i studied, there's a whole career in some universities and also several workshops in wich you can learn directly from a jeweler, i guess it's similar in most of Europe but i'm unaware if that's the case in other places too

That isn't how they actually are, just so you know. The ones she's using are actually dead oysters with cheaper pearls stuffed in them.
I love how organic some of the pearl shapes are not to mention the color and especially how easy she makes everything look!
I bought a couple oysters at a ren fest- they were guaranteed to have pearls but you wouldnt know what kind. One was an egg-shaped beige one and I also got a blue one!
This is a very interesting concept for a video, especially ASMR.

I have to say, I never have experienced ASMR tingles. But after watching Bakery for a year now, she certainly knows when to change up the texture of the noise too. I have trouble sleeping and with the volume low I can focus on her performance rather than lay in 'empty head' or having thoughts keeping my brain active.
So glad I found such an expert!
I loved the video and I have very special memories of my great grandfather opening an oyster for a pearl. I still have the necklace we made from it and it reminds me of him.

people, consider this as an autopsy, the pearl clam was most likely already dead, from my memory, they can live up to 30min max outside of water, she could've even bought it from someone like that! she isn't killing it in this video
They were absolutely already dead. As they are animals, they would be moving and/or resisting quite a bit if they were alive.

@@atomicbanana55 it wouldn’t actually be moving as it is a mollusk, related to oysters. They don’t move a lot, if at all.
@@doomchild0669 I mean they have control over how tight their shells are, so she wouldn't have been able to cut into them so easily if they were alive. You would also be able to see the severed muscles contracting when it was opened if it was alive.
This does not change the fact that this is: 1. Demonstration of a DEAD ANIMAL (if there was a mammal animal, you would not care, but this is double standards, why does an oyster not deserve compassion??). 2. This is pearl mining propaganda, which is cruel.
