@@michaelsrailwayfilms7928 I think what he's trying to ask is that there is an american-manufactured train bell (Graham White E-Bell 373) on a locomotive in Australia. It's not uncommon though as far as I'm concerned as US shares a lot of its bells and horns with AUS.
thanks Mrbnsftrain some horns over here are alot different to those used in the USA. we have the Australian made RVB horns.. and the NR class engines have plastic horns made by Kockums. also a few single chimes etc. i have started out collecting horns too..
We have a lot more than four across the whole country. The most common I hear are probably the K3LA/HA, K3L/H, K5LAs, Raised letter K5Hs, New Cast P5s, K5HLs, K5LLAs, and RS-3Ls.
are there any set rules in austrailia for when trains have to blow their horns in a certain pattern? in the US its 2 long blasts, a short blast, and another long before a crossing, 2 shorts when starting forward, 3 shorts when starting backward, and 1 short for stopping. do austrailian trains have rules like that? or can the engineer just blow in any pattern?
It’s just a toot at whistle boards and where ever the driver considers it Necessary. Often it’s a toot at a whistle board and a short toot just before entering the crossing
Depends on the driver. Usually one long one at the whistle board then one just before the crossing. Usually a blast before a station if running straight through. A quick toot on departure from a stand still. For suburban and passenger trains it's usually however loud or long is necessary to depart a platform. Although it varies as NSW have guards on their passenger trains to ensure the platform is clear first
Australia's got some really lovely-sounding train horns. Alot of the horns over here in America are starting to sound like crap due to the FRAs increasingly-ridiculous horn regulations.
@@trainfanTheRobloxTrainFan why are you bringing up the American company? The locomotives are in G&W livery and are owned by Genesee & Wyoming Australia (which is the Australian division of G&W).
Michael's Trains Vlogs exactly in AUS they might have restrictors or they might be fouled, they probs have a different manifold and be ran at a lower PSI

there isnt any fixed rule of what pattern drivers should sound the horn, basically its up to the driver to sound it for as long as he/she wants.
