It’s left me needing a big fat break from the MCU. I’ll probably catch up in three years…
I think it was good. It did have some bad moments but overall the rest was good.
There was definitely some hiccups, especially with the writing. But I still enjoyed it and I’m excited for Phase 5!

Out of all the films and shows in phase 4, Shang-Chi and Spider-Man NWH were definitely the best ones I've seen. Haven't seen Wakanda Forever, but hope to watch it soon.

Wakanda forever is up there with those two imo
shang chi is overrated in my opinion... maybe it's because the theater I watched it at had weird quality (The movie sound was quiet and the brightness was darker)
I don't know why but I really hate this, but something felt like it was missing from Spiderman No Way Home. It was the best movie of phase 4 for sure but when I look back on it, I don't have that feeling of pure love. Maybe because of how much got spoiled for me I really don't know. I'm looking forward to Spiderman 4 for sure though. I really wish I could go back in time and be more careful so I wouldn't have gotten spoiled.

I think phase 5 needs to make us care yo give us the audience that feel of eagerness and excitement with each mcu project coming out cause l am going to be honest I didn’t watch literally all the mcu projects except for Shang-chi, NWH, and wakanda forever. I feel like they need prioritize for quality storytelling and movie quality than just distributing projects just for the fun of it. That should be there goal.

Right another RUclipsr brought up a good point…with the infinity saga we were rewarded for keeping up with every installment by a woven overall story. I remember my parents and siblings not getting those special freak out moments that I did because of my loyalty to each seeing every film. But every-time I hear a reviewer say this doesn’t have any real connection and it’s only so so then I don’t have a desire to check it out. Also the fact that the directors are not watching these movies or shows either is hilarious. All in all I didn’t hate phase 4 but we had some meh installments.
I definitely cared in phase 4 and after watching wakanda forever , I’m satisfied and looking forward to what’s next
@@im3011ful but the shows are directly impacting the future of the mcu… so that logic doesn’t work. Wandavision - Led to Dr Strange MOM , TFAWS - New cap and thunderbolts, Loki - first look into multiverse and literally Kang… the list goes on

I 100% agree with you on your #1 favorite show. Loki was top tier and I’m hella excited to see more of Owen Wilson.
Hawkeye was my personal favorite TV series in the MCU. I will say though that the intrigue from WandaVision was ELITE!
Spider-Man No Way Home is the best example of how to do nostalgia correct, while the story does have many plot holes, it manages to make an amazing narrative with some dark but enjoyable moments, it also had the best connections and build up compare to other projects and fixed the problems people had with the MCU
I do understand that Eternals wasn’t for everyone, but I really liked it. The only thing I really didn’t like was Black widow. It just felt like it came out a little too late. Even then I didn’t completely loath it.
I know it's not a popular opinion but I actually liked black widow alot that's saying something because I've never been a big fan of the character but seeing Scarlett Johansson back was really great in my opinion man
Externals was great black widow was great didn’t care for the lackluster villain but for coming out late you can thank the Marvel TV CEO that dukes it out with Kevin and we know who won that argument with Disney choosing which side was more relevant

I think they should wait longer for the next avenger's movie because there are a lot of storylines they should do before secret wars that they have set up in phase 4. I also feel like I need more time with characters to really care about them
Yeah I agree just not forever and if not, not have back to back avengers movies and I hope Kang as much as they are building up isn’t over and done by secret wars. I think Johnathan Majors should have more parts especially when we need the council of Kangs and Reeds but having that be in Fantastic 4 first MCU iteration is too soon maybe in their closing trilogy arc

I know this is an unpopular opinion but I really liked phase 4 it felt like a comic phase where they weren’t trying to appeal to the main stream but rather to the comic book fans and I could really appreciate that

Spider-Man No Way Home STILL has me feeling a way I can't explain since I seen it Day 1. Yes I love it was a somewhat celebration of 20 years of films, but it (like you said) had him face actual consequences and great loss. He suffers like how Spider-Man suffers in the comics with wanting to do things a certain way but feels guilty for not doing what's right and then when he does do the right thing it ends up going against him. Also the fact that this trilogy is an ORIGIN story is simply....Amazing

I think that phase 4 was mostly for the characters, for example wandavision was for Wanda, Loki was for Loki, and Thor love and Thunder was for Thor trying to find him self again. I believe not many people liked it because Kevin made movies and series for so characters that other people may not like. I hope that phase 5 will focus on the world that is in the MCU. (I still liked phase 4 though)😁
lol the way I see it, Loki was for Female Loki, Love and Thunder was for Jane FOster, Doctor Strange was for Wanda, Hawkeye series was for Bishop. Just blatant feminism at this point, they don't even put an effort to make it subtle

@@ucmanhvuong4301 i disagree? Loki had twice the screen time as Sylvie, and also had a significantly bigger role in the plot, and had much more character development. Sylvie was the same person throughout the entire show minus the love thing. Thor also had way more screen time than Jane in Thor 4, and again, more character development. Not to mention Jane's story line in this movie was based off of a highly beloved comic series. I feel like I am repeating myself, but all of the main characters in their own shows had the most screen time in the show, often by a significant amount. Talk about Doc Strange and how it was all about Wanda, when in reality, even America Chavez had more screen time than her... Think whatever you want, but are you not entertained? Sylvie, Bishop, and Wanda were all very entertaining to watch and really helped the shows they were in imo. We don't need to talk about Jane though
@@thatstough3643 only bishop really worked well enough for the "passing of the torch", the rest is just shoehorned in to slowly replace their primary male counterpart. And I might be rmb-ing it incorrectly but since when was Female thor a beloved plotline? If anything, from the little info I got from comics fan, they hated it with a passion
While the writing was weak and the comedy was over the top, I finally know what this phase was about.... pain, trauma, and grief. Look back at all of these movies and shows, they all have in common with characters from the original phases dealing with the gigantic event of Endgame, and they were all impacted in many different ways. I don't think that the MCU is dying, it's just not. But if Marvel can learn from their mistakes, maybe we can hope that Phases 5 and 6 can be major improvements from Phase 4. Because I WANT Marvel to be great like phases 1 - 3, I WANT Marvel to focus on quality over quantity.
I enjoyed Phase Four. Yes, it had its issues but it’s something new never done before and Phase Five will learn from it and improve upon and I can’t be more hyped!
I think phase 4 is exactly what they said it would be and it needed to be.
You can't keep doing the high stakes universe wide thing. Without it seeming artificial and risking burn out. So Phase 4 by Kevin Feige's own words was a lower stakes, more experimental phase. Trying out things like, art house epics like Eternals, a much darker and more horror feeling Doctor Strange, TV shows that are actually important to the overall universe. The main focus of phase 4 was to catch up with the still active characters and introducing characters and concepts that Marvel wants to make important going forward. Was Phase 4 perfect? No, while I personally have enjoyed all the projects between Wandavision and She-Hulk, still need to see BPWF but am excited. But nothing let me down and it did serve to make me excited for what's coming. It also doesn't help that there is a ridiculous culture war happening and thing Marvel tends to do, just in the history of the company, tends to upset certain culturally backwards, disingenuous grifters.
But say what you will about Marvel, nothing in Phase 4 is a bad as the Zack Snyder directed DC films.
Gotta disagree Eternals, Black Widow, Doctor Strange MoM, Thor 4, TFATWS,She- Hulk, Ms Marvel, Hawkeye, and moonnight were worse than man of steel, maybe no batman v superman but Worse than man of steel and justice league
I feel like Loki, Shang Chi, Nwh, were the only things i truly enjoyed everything else was alr or really bad. WEREWOLF BY NIGHT WAS GREAT THOUGH

I was just talking to people about this. The first 3 phases raised the bar so high you can’t even keep up with that. So a drop was expected. Honestly everything just felt like it’s own thing
Great list. Completely agree with 99% of it. I think the top 3 of this phase are pretty much objectively going to be NWH, Shang Chi, and BP2, and they can go in any order you want.
I agree with you Chris, after I left the theaters watching Shang Chi made me want to see more of him and eventually meet the Avengers
Haven’t (and won’t for some time) finished Phase 4, but easily the best things imo were Shang Chi and No Way Home. The worst was easily Eternals, Love and Thunder, Falcon and The Winter Soldier, and if *I’m* being honest most if not all of the TV shows lol. I know most of you are gonna disagree lol
Nah man. We all got our opinions. I totally understand why some of these properties didn't land for you. It's hard enough there's so much to watch just to keep track. Plus like my guy said...there was no way they could live up to phase 3

Admittedly, yes it was divisive but I feel like that showed us the true cracks in the MCU formula. They had to do this to get back on track hopefully lol.
I think that the big issue with this phase is marvels selection of what should be a movie and what should be a show. The only movie in this phase that's completely original is eternals and Shang chi I think if they made some of the shows into a movie and some movies into shows ( mainly eternals) it would be much better because some of the shows just feel like a movie with filler added to meet the 6 episodes (mainly falcon and winter soldier). Also they should make the shows 8 episodes for normal ones like Hawkeye and falcon and winter soldiers and the longer one like she hulk around 13 so they are more like shows and less like long movies. I would like to not the episode count is not only a marvel issue though

I feel like the main reason that phase 4 has dropped in quality and is the worst phase so far is because of the lack of competition. From the beginning they had stiff competition from DC with the Dark Knight trilogy in phase 1 and then the DCEU for phases 2 and 3, where Marvel and DC were competing to constantly get better and be the top superhero movie company, but after the whole josstice league catastrophy, DC really went on a downward spiral to the point where they aren't really a serious competitor to Marvel, so they feel less motivated to constantly improve and feel like they can kinda do whatever they want and people will keep watching their stuff regardless.
y’all seem to keep forgetting the fact that covid happened which in turned delayed production of the majority of phase 4. the cgi was bad because they were rushing to get back on schedule. phase 5 and 6 will obviously have a bit more structure and thanks to phase 4, the hero and villain roster expanded tenfold. phase 4 is the multiverse saga’s equivalent to phase 1, getting everything ready for the insanity that is to come and expecting HUGE plot moments and high stakes for every single character is ludicrous. there was never any competition with dc because up until a few months ago, dc had no real structure with their movies and they rushed to try and compete with the mcu which is why most of them suck. phase 3 definitely spoiled a lot of mcu fans which is sad cause comic book movies should be allowed to experiment and have fun, not be dark edgy convoluted nonsense again and again. moving forward i think y’all need to just chill tf out and just enjoy the journey to the finale

The main problem is a lot of Disney plus shows either need to be longer like Hawkeye and moon night should have been and or a special presentation like ms marvel and she hulk

I really enjoyed almost all of the content that the MCU gave us for The Multiverse Saga / Phase 4. I can't wait to see what comes in Phase 5 and where this Saga goes next.

I feel like everyone forgets that before this phase started Kevin said it was gonna be a more low stakes and experimental phase and that's exactly what phase 4 is and to be honest it might be my favorite phase so far. I've enjoyed every show/movie that's come out and the highs of the phase were so fucking high. Like if it wasn't for phase 4 we wouldn't have seen all 3 spidermen on screen together and I'm forever grateful for that

Awesome video as always Cris. Looking forward to phase 5 that will begin with Ant-Man. Now that Kang the Conqueror is the next big villain I feel we're going for a wild ride and I hope the built up and hype to Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars will be the same as we had in No way Home, Infinity war and Endgame.
I’m with you Chris, seeing Spider-Man: No Way Home in the theater for the first time is an experience I will also never forget. It was amazing.
For me Avatar was the theater experience I'll never forget.. no one had ever seen anything that looked so clean CGI wise.. it was short lived as the movie had zero cultural impact.. but it was cool at the time

NWH was amazing, I loved it and can’t wait to experience something like that again! I hope phase 5 movies/ shows will in a way relate the “multiverse” a lot more.

The movie which has the highest potential with og material was Thor 4.
Marvel has to only adapt to the og comic storyline to Live action. The most worst part of the movie was they replaced Gorr the God butcher with Gorr the children kidnapper and old king and young Thor with Jane and Valkyrie. Also turning Thor into a clown.
I was expecting some planet shattering fights and what we get, Children vs Gorrs army😶.

Have to agree with you regarding phase 4 I felt like it was more quantity over quality even did a tier list video on my channel for phase 4 but in terms of best movie no way home not only the experience of the movie but the journey getting there I remember watching your videos about set photos and leaks of the movie guessing if they will appear or not it was so much fun

As much as I do enjoy a lot of the projects in phase 4, Spider-Man No Way Home really shows how disorganized it could be. That movie feels so disconnected but also connected in the same way, you could watch it or skip it and it wouldn't matter so much. Most of the other projects just have such a different experience feeling like they're forced in the middle of this huge universe.

It's my favorite phase of mcu and no one can ever change that because there's just something about it that just fits what I like.

I've always seen phase 4 as the new phase 1, introducing her characters and then assembling them, I like phase 4 even though I thought most of it was alright and I can't wait to see the new characters come together in the next Avengers movies

The actual Phase one was so much better and made us care about Marvel heroes. None of these characters experienced growth of character like Iron Man did. He kept me coming back. Most of the characters in phase 4 are forgettable. Not sure if many long term fans will are about them going forward. Especially if Disney keeps destroying films with their new agenda.

I felt like phase 4 was the first phase that they started to do more individual movies without having to lean to much on others films of course I’m not talking about NWH or MOM. I think that’s a big reason why I felt like everything was kinda disconnected expect for a few things. I think they’ll start slowly connecting them as we progress in this saga.

I think that there are much to have learnt from this phase. More time between projects, the diversity in ethnicities was nice and the bigger creative freedom given to the directors was a great idea.

Grief and loss of the MCU as a whole? I’d agree, I went through my grief and mourning and now I’m good. Haven’t watched anything since I dropped off Moon Knight (man that show was a boring let down) and I don’t miss the MCU at all, it feels great !
Switching to hour long specials is the best answer to reducing fatigue and enouraging participation. Wanna stay up to date all the time? Disney +. Don't have it? Buy the home release (should include every single special for that phase)
The only question is, is it too little too late for the characters introduced in slog-a-thons already? Comics have the benefit of small snippits of useful info in the corners for people who aren't familiar with why such and such character has suddenly shown up sans one arm. My idea is, condence these shows into highlight reels and release them with the specials on home video. Also every movie should start with a recap like in tv shows. It's awkward, but we're at that point where it is necessary.

Phase 4 wasn’t what I expected by my accounts it’s not bad just not that great I’m hoping that Phase 5 & 6 is better cause I love the MCU been watching it since i was a kid so here’s hoping that the Multiverse Saga gets better
I think creating several separate storylines that will tie in during big crossovers but not in little films is the way to go.
Take Dr. Strange for example: if you’re a fan of him you can watch Dr. Strange 1 and 2 and WandaVision to understand his story, but you don’t need to watch something like Falcon and the Winter Soldier because they’re two separate stories told in the same world. And if Falcon for some reason needs to come into Dr. Strange, then that should be explained IN Dr. Strange’s story.
The only movies I’d actually like in MCU phase 4 are No way home, black panther wakanda forever & Shang chi but I liked the moon knight series I liked that character. Agreed all the projects should be stand alone. The Disney plus series felt like a Disney channel original movie with super heroes. Werewolf by night I enjoyed!!

I felt like that this was a mixed bad. There were some high highs but some very low lows. The shows mainly felt like filler to me.
I think this phase had some really good projects in a vacuum. If you look at Shang-Chi and No Way Home as their own thing. They're Fantastic. But when you look at this phase as a collective. It feels very disjointed and all over the place in terms of storytelling and quality.
I'd say that's where I think this phase falls flat is it feels like it doesn't have a point to it.
When you think about it this fase was pretty much about passing the mantle to the new generation, you know New Cap, New Hawkeye, most likely new black widow apart from all the new heros mostly kids compare to the OGs
But yes it's pretty disjointed and a 100% all over the place

Regardless of nostalgia goggles or not spiderman no way home i think is gonna be one of the most rembered things in cinematic history. I send Spiderman when I was in elementary school and I'm almost 30 now. It's crazy to me that all that led to this.
I like spider man no way home, Hawkeye, Wandavision, Moon knight all these I love it get me great memories 😊I love them👍

Wakanda Forever was by far the best movie in Phase 4 in my opinion... not a dry eye in the theater

Although I think another solution is what I’m doing. Just leaving the franchise alone for a bit. Catch up on everything in a few years. Go at your own pace. Don’t watch it every week like it’s your weekly homework or something. I feel it messed with my perception of the projects, especially the shows.

Overall, I think I can say that at least they did a pretty good job with all the main chatacters, even if I didn't really like the movie/show I can confidently say I'm excited to see the characters in future projects :)
I will rewatch this video over and over and over again just because of your opinions is way different than mine but no worries I respect.

I agree it was a mixed bag of good and bad. There were times I just didn't want to watch the next series, but knew I didn't want to miss out. I do have to admit I can't wait for the next phase and believe it will be just as good as end game. I feel it in my bones.
I honestly didnt hate phase 4 and im pretty glad they're getting diverse with their projects it allows them to make more interesting stories and also give it its own feel to it yes maybe not all hit the target but some of them i really loved and enjoyed like ms marvel werewolf by night wandavision wakanda forever no way home etc if the mcu is gonna keep making more unique projects then im down for it and interested on how everything goes the only real complain i have is the cgi while not all movies and shows looked terrible love and thunder was truly terrible with its cgi but other then all still enjoyed this phase
the reason i dont feel like everyone else about nwh is because i didn’t have that shock value of seeing tobey and andrew in the movie(even tho we all basically already knew) because i got spoiled with scenes in yt and tiktok

Phase 4 ended strong and of course it had its ups and downs but overall ir wasn’t a bad phase and I actually enjoyed it. Also I agree with the way that you ranked the movies :)
I LOVED Wakanda Forever! I really like how the Marvel logo was a tribute to Chadwick Bozeman!
I like this phase a lot more than some people. Yes, it had its bumps but overall I still liked it.
