Never mind that the new case at the end is entirely hinged on proving that a damaged bullet came from one particular gun and not the other identical gun, which is basically impossible to prove. The twist of the rifling and length of the barrels are the same, so the striations on the bullet will match both guns so closely it cannot really be determined which gun fired the bullet. The whole case will just fall apart again.
Moral of the story is - don't cheat and don't fk somebody else's wife. Not all men will allow you to do that without a punishment. Ted may have ended in prison, but both cheaters ended dead. Similar to the role of Lecter, Hopkins plays again an evil murderer which we, reluctantly - but, symphathize with.
He still hasn’t been convicted. He destroyed the prosecution representing himself, now he has a team of high powered lawyers. The only reason he gloated was because he knew they had nothing
I loved the film, however I confess I was a little disappointed that he wasn't able to get away with it in the end. Hannibal should be able to get away with his crimes!
Ted might go to prison (might being the operative word, since the Lieutenant and the wife are no longer around to give statements), but he still got his revenge pretty clean. Heck of a film.
Congrats to Mr. Hopkins for taking total career leap and playing a brilliant killer. (2007 movie Fracture...showing tech in movies dates them. That old phone is comical now.)
I get it’s a movie i’m not condoning what Ted did was right, but people really need to be loyal instead of cheating on their significant other. The Lieutenant got what he deserved, ofc his Wife and Kids would abandon him what did he expect was gonna happen if his kids and Wife found out that their father was having an affair with another man wife? Bro expect people to feel pity for him, bro trying to act like he’s the victim. Moral of the Story: Dont have an affair with another man wife while being a father.
Thats true. People thought I was cute or pretty in school, but still I knew that if I was not true to my husband, he would probably team up with the guy I cheated with to take me out! You can never predict what people are going to do when they find they have been betrayed. Honor God and your relationship is my take away From situations like this not worth it for some side kitty kat 😸 or pickle meat 🥒. Break up or get divorced then move on with someone else so you can be in the clear.
You got nothing! It's a suspense drama. A lawyer's film. The knowledge of law is your weapon to get what you want. It's a competition between Hopkins and Gosling. Everything is fair in love and war...........
1st, I wouldn't have shot my wife but if I did I would be playing the victim card and not the cocky person. I would have never confessed and lawyered up. I also would have left my cheating wife on life support for a while and then pulled the plug for the life insurance.
I am not an attorney, but I was on juries in traffic and criminal court in Houston, TX and on a civil court jury and a federal grand jury in Oklahoma City. I know poor old Nunnally was grieving, but even a grieving police officer should know to walk out of a scene as soon as he realizes he knows any of the people involved and he knows not to be involved in any part of it, except as a possible witness. As for Willie, what DA would go to court without reading the arresting officers account of the crime scene, where he would have known that the perp and the officer both put their guns down.
There are many, many times people should know better than to do something and then they do it anyway. Given that Nunnaly eventually offed himself, he clearly wasn't of sound mind
Double jeopardy doesn't apply - the defendant could absolutely have been charged again, since the original case was dropped or thrown out by the judge, rather than reaching a verdict.
Yeah, the case was dropped due to lack of evidence, retrieving the bullet from her skull would be new evidence worthy of reopening the case. Not that it mattered in the end.
A verdict (be it acquittal or guilty) is not when jeopardy attaches; it is when it terminates. In capital crime cases jeopardy attaches as soon as the jury is sworn in, or in the case of a bench trial, the judge begins hearing direct examination and/or examining evidence. He can, however, be charged for a different crime: murder. His original charge was attempted murder. His downfall was gloating; his bad luck was her 'survival' of the initial attack. Had she been killed and the initial charge been murder he would have gotten off entirely.
A rare film where I rooted for the ‘bad guy’. In the new trial Ted is again acquitted because it’s apparent the cheating and disgraced officer killed her and then tried to set Ted up, and when this plot fails, he offs himself. The moral: don’t cheat.
I remember this movie it's so sad. But dose the lieutenant know she's married?but really he's married too with children. Poor Ted. He's loved and given her a beautiful life only to betray him . And he's handsome not some stinky slob. Only of elder
