I want to like Scott because they're well made and durable. They make proper mountain running shoes with excellent grip in most terrain. Unfortunately the fit doesn't work for me at all. Narrow & low volume toe boxes put me off. I wouldn't even use them for hiking for that reason. I'm wearing Lowa Fortux instead as they're also very durable and the fit works much better for me.

Thanks for the review Loyd, I think I'll stick with my reactions. Shame as I had the first version many years ago and they were a great shoe..but that weight gain 😬

Hi Lloyd, I got the Kinabalu3 for testing too. And after my review, I thought I had been a bit harshon them. they look nice but the ride was so firm. Also had issues with the collar.

That’s interesting to hear that you had similar issues with the shoe. I’m not sure what Scott are doing with the Kinabalu 3? The world of running shoes is getting lighter and softer and they’ve made their shoe heavy and super firm! Very strange 🤔

Never tried a shoe from Scott but the Kinabulu 3's design strikes me as a bit clunky maybe? It looks like a big shoe and I wonder how it would fare on more technical terrain. Hopefully it will soften up after a few more runs.

A friend owns a shop that sells a lot of Scott gear so I can chime in on this question. Scott shoes tend to be designed for technical terrain. They're often firm, durable and grippy on rocks. A way to think about their offerings is they are making stuff for Swiss trail runners who do everything from relatively low altitude paths & trails to alpine sky running. The shoes, clothes and accessories are all top notch and unlike a brand like On, Scott has zero interest in chasing fashion.
They have a unique fit and it either works or it doesn't. I haven't found a pair of Scott's I loved yet but have always been impressed with the build quality.

More a running boot. Kinda lost me at narrow. I've been looking for a new trail shoe. But not this kind of shoe.

360 grams is way too heavy, therefore would never consider them. But thanks for doing the review!

Too much stiffness going on there and not much toe box with or height. I'll stick with Topo Athletic instead.
Thanx for the video my Running Brother 👍 ⚔️ ✝️ 🇺🇲

I don’t know, but these shoes looks to me more like hiking shoes than shoes made for running 😉

They definitely felt more like hiking shoes but they’re meant to be a running shoe! 🤔

As a heavy runner, I'm looking for a beast of a shoe with a reasonably substantial weight and a firm ride. Maybe these are for me 🤔😂
