Yea that discount waukesha is one of my spots. Oddly enough also snagged that Penelope Wheated there 2 days back & was the last one on the shelf. That is a new January release!
Castle & Key is a gorgeous property that puts out a great product, in my opinion. Even their vodka is great. And the distillery is essentially down the road from Woodford.
I hit Discount Liquors and Woodman’s whenever I travel through Waukesha. The Penelope Wheated was just released. I have 2 bottles of a Driftless Glen Cask Strength store pick from Kenwood Liquor in IL at 125 Proof. So good. 🥃
The bottle with the blue label is a reference to Wrigley field. Anytime the Cubs lose, they fly an L flag. When they win, they fly a W flag. It's an old tradition so people who didn't get a news paper or couldn't listen to the game on the radio could keep track of wins and losses daily.
I am in Cedar Rapids, IA just a few miles from the distillery. Cedar Ridge is getting a lot of good comments. SLB basement bar loves the distillery. I would look for the Double Barrel bourbon and rye. They are delicious. Their single malt Quintessential is also getting a lot of good reviews but I have not tried that. I like that you are showing the bottle and the price as I like to compare the prices to that in IA. The Discount LIquor in Waukesha has great prices on several bottles.
Central Standard originally introduced the L bottle in celebration of the Brewers beating the Cubs in a 2018 NL Central Division Tie-Breaker Game 163. Cubs fly a white flag with a blue W when they win, so this was designed to be the exact opposite. It was originally a limited release of… 163 (I have an unopened original that I’ve vowed not to crack until the Brewers win the World Series… delusional, I know). Anyway, became so popular that it’s now a regular product of theirs. Cheers!
$115 is was too much for that anniversary wild turkey bottle. I'm pretty sure I've never seen a cask strength driftless Glen, especially a store pick and I live in Wisconsin. Thank you for the bears still suck bourbon. I'll be on the lookout for that one. Cheers!
My brother in law has really been getting into the castle and key, I haven’t tried it yet but the bottles so fancy it makes me worried 😂 I’m worried they’re compensating
Those Dickel single barrel store picks are pretty good especially if they are the 15 year, 9 year 100 proof bottles are good also 😉. Hopefully Driftless Glen comes to michigan some day 🤔 Cheers 👍 🥃
Awesome, never thought I'd see a Waukesha hunt. Thanks for sharing it. I'm glad you were able to find you way back home. LOL. Crazy street layout...
Woodman's Waukesha has a whole section of store picks in that whiskey aisle too. It's right across the aisle from that Green River.
We found this after the fact. It’s a nice selection of picks for sure
Discount in Waukesha was my go-to growing up out there. Unbeatable prices on shelfers, great selection.

That’s exactly what we’ve heard! The grounds are supposedly gorgeous.
You guys need to come up to Neenah and stop at Grainworks old+new! Great selection and awesome owners!
Thanks for the reminder, we went to their raffle this fall but haven’t been back. It was a really cool spot for sure!
If you guys ever get to the Wausau area I know of a few places you could check out.
Absolutely, thank you! Let’s connect on our discord. We intend to get up there soon.
@ sounds good. Just joined your Discord.
Dickel bottled in bond (blue label) is probably one of my favorites. And fairly cheap too for a 12-13 year old whisky.
Good call. We'll have to try it!
Get in on all those Spots I love the Green but they are all excellent. See you guys soon 🧂🥃🇺🇸
Penelope also has a 11yr wheated, part of the estate collection

My favorite Dickel is the collab they did with Leopold Bros and their Rye. If you've never tried it I'd recommend giving it a try.
I picked up a EH Taylor SB and Dickel 9 year bundle for $110, the dickel wasn’t bad lol

Believe it or not, it rang up $150 👀 no thanks! Driftless BP is a game changer. Bears still suck going on Display!
Dickel 9 yr worth picking up! Had two bottles.
Nice! We may have to give it whirl
@WisconsinBourbonBros if you can find it! 🙂
My brother in law has really been getting into the castle and key, I haven’t tried it yet but the bottles so fancy it makes me worried 😂 I’m worried they’re compensating
We are always Leary when it’s more bottle than bourbon.

WR 121.2 & 119.5 are 2024 editions
$115 for the WT 70th hahahaha. I got mine for 43.99 at woodmans
It was $150. Double NO
@WisconsinBourbonBros haha yeah even worse
Try the Diclkel Rye. Good and cheap.
Nice. When’s the raffle?
Woodman's in waukesha is solid. Lone Elm is good. Very similar to Still Austin. Id get the single barrel.
I just passed on the peerless rum barrel. It was 115 bucks
I am not a fan of Dickel at all but the 15 year was surprising good.
