I thought this series was brilliant when I first watched it in the mid seventies. I wold love love to know what happened to the main characters.Sadly a lot will have died but the survivors, I am sure, will look back on their service as their best years. certainly my memorable years were in the seventies/eighties.
Twinkle Powell is still around, Chris Perry made Rear Admiral... They all ended up having long lives except the Commander who got his own ship six months after broadcast of the show and then died in his cabin of a heart attack before he could take her to sea
British sailors in Florida will always be amusing. There were shenanigans in 2018 on a much more recent documentary. Jack will be jack, no matter the decade he serves in.
A water moccasin and a "cotton mouth" are the same species of snake; cotton mouth is an informal name given due to the white coloration of the inside of the water mocassins mouth.....there are far more than four species of venomous snake in North America. I love the series though - what a great documentary.
I was there in 78 aged 17. A four month deployment, including 3 weeks in Mayport. Happy days in the RN. I’ve been back several times.
My big brother was on the Ark Royal during this, he was a chef…. R.I.P Mike….
