But seriously, I really respect Newgrounds, The animations and the inspiration from those weird animation and crazy games, even if I didn't know english back in the day, it was nice getting there every day to see something new. I still love it, I don't want to shit post on the site for that respect that I have!

Newgrounds is a beautiful place. It's got all kinds of amazing creations and I've never seen a community so determined to make sure artists have all the tools and resources they need to improve. Nearly every animation and animator I watched growing up has a connection to Newgrounds in some way so I respect the hell out of it for giving them a platform to express themselves.

I'm noticing more videos popping up that talk about how important Newgrounds was. But I also notice so many talk about it in the past tense, as though Newgrounds is gone. But that's not exactly true. Newgrounds might not be as big as it used to, and without help from its supporters, the rising cost of maintaining it is a very real threat. But here's the thing: Newgrounds isn't dead. It's not this lost relic of the past, it is still alive, still hosting new games, animations, and art, some of which like the recent Friday Night Funkin', have proven to be very popular. And I keep noticing new artists appearing there. Newgrounds isn't gone. And it's still offering that safe harbor of free expression that so few other spaces do, and giving creators real chances to have that work be seen where they might otherwise not.
Newgrounds isn't dead. If you care about what it represents for art and internet culture, you can can still support it and the people who still see it as a place to call home. As kaptainkristian
said in his video about Newgrounds, "Total creative independence unfortunately, isn't very lucrative."
But creators still see the importance of sites like it, and we all would and can do wise to remember that.
Anything, by anyone, for everyone.

It's also historical for being one of the first underground music submission websites in 2003, free underground music by every one. It's done a lot of things many sites don't, and I love it. - Johnny Guy (formerly Real Faction & Piercing Lazer, some guy who made a song in Castle Crashers).

@@Smeef Aw thanks! I'm glad people are liking the CURSED SERVER side project, I'm already working on the second record. It's got a variety of genres on the first EP but I'm happy with it. Good video, Newgrounds deserves more support like the old days. It's still a special place, a good community. I've been around since 2003 and it's strange to have seen it change so much but also awesome.

Awesome video dude. I agree that Newgrounds was the pioneer website before RUclips. I remember the assassin games specifically kill the taco bell dog which they pulled from the site for some reason. I am glad Newgrounds is still around despite it not being as popular as it once was. Also they had a great reaction to Flash dying by creating a Newgrounds player.
I honestly love Newgrounds, it gives you so much freedom than RUclips, as well as giving artists a place to run free. I hope more talented and creative artists join the site! NG will always be my home!

Wasn't expecting to get all teary-eyed from this lol. Awesome video dude. One of my earliest experiences of the internet was just browsing Newgrounds for hours, seeing all the fun, hilarious, at times kind of fucked up content it had to offer.

This was a really heartfelt video. I remember when I was first introduced to Newgrounds, I must have been about 11 or so. I hope these creators know how many young minds they helped light the fire of creativity in, myself included as I attempt to pursue voice acting. Because I can’t animate. But that’s okay.

I wouldn't really consider Newgrounds dead, just significantly less active. There's animations popping up with a few gems and some great stuff like Madness Day and the recent Final Fantasy 7 collab. Of course most big animations have more views on RUclips, though I've seen a few exceptions for more obscure animations.
Honestly though I go back there 95% of the time to browse any new movies and games rated for Adults. It's probably where a majority of its active users flock to now.
It's pretty crazy and amazing to know that Newgrounds was so much to millions to people and some of those people became such an impact to even more people

I heard about Newgrounds back in I think in 2009, but sadly never pursued it for some reason. I think because I didn't have the means to animate at that time. And honestly, thank god...I was into some really cringey, really edgy shit people would find problematic and or offensive...Your IQ points can sleep soundly now. Ah, who am I kidding? I really haven't changed...
I finally created my Newgrounds account I think it was back in November. I uploaded just one just ONE really crappy animation and actually got a response from someone the in a short time the video had been uploaded.
Now, I think the site that IS sadly dying, is deviantArt. Either that or the artists are stuck up twinkies and couldn't be arsed to give you feedback though you went out on your way to give them feedback on their shit. I think it's the latter. I think dA has been in that spiral since 2010...
Now Newgrounds? I honestly see a Newgrounds revival.

Flash started before 2006 by a long while. In fact, it was from '96-'05. Adobe ACQUIRED it in '06.
