At one time methil was a major port and coal pits the Glasgow came here for their holidays. Methil has a bad name but also hard men and woman who are proud to live in methil we will one day be a great town again methil and proud
Its a beautiful place. I read recently that the f1 driver Daniel Ricciardo was looking to relocate to Methil from Monte Carlo .

Although I grew up in Leven beside the Glen; my family came from Methil, the closed up bed shop used to be a massive Steve Davis snooker club back in the 80s, played there with my paw, the high street was quite a thing once 🫤 in the park that was a golf course on the info board is a pic of my late maw as a young girl ❤️ the old Stuart’s bakery was in Leven you visited before it moved. The old Bayview ground was more in the centre of the town off Wellesley Rd, great chippy behind it 😉 Methil Steelworks was a massive employer back in the day and my Grandad was a shop steward there after the war.

Hey ; my take on Methil ; ) , I wrote two books one called BYGONE METHIL and one called Maritime Methil both of which are available at the library . Both pre-date the heritage centre ; ) . I also wrote a book on Kirkland . Knowing how much you love West Wemyss thought I would just mention I also wrote a book on West Wemyss A Village Tale ; one on Silverburn ; one on Levenvale. one on Kirkland and one on Denbeath and one on Leven . Basically all the surrounding areas where I was born . My name at that time was Mary Cameron and I worked at the Wemyss Centre who produced all the books at that time for the coastal walk . My friends and I were all unemployed graduates at the time and we were the hub ; the archive ; the researchers and the educators at that time working with schools and adults to preserve heritage . We had a publishing ; photographic and archive wing . We even had a book binder . All the books you see from the Wemyss Centre in the libraries were written and researched by us . The Caves and SWACS were based there and for a time I was the Chairwoman . Nice time of my life only blighted by prejudice against a working class woman ; who was a bit young to be accepted at the time . I met some good people then Mrs Watters who ran the centre for many years . She was fundamental in giving us all a chance . That was in the time of Thatcher and the unemployed were scum of the earth then. We had riches beyond measure ; doing what we loved in spite of the prejudice .
At 13.12, on your left is the old Methil Train station, now used as a base for the truck yard there, Methil not as bad as made out by some people, glad you highlighted that in vid 😊👍
When was that train station Demolished?

I went to the primary school that was just up a bit from where you started the vid. The steps you walked down we all used to run down on a Friday to the cooks cafe that's down the bottom. Surprised we didn't end up in hospital because you wanted to be first so you threw yourself down those steps 5-6 at a time.
Aye they are some stairs bud. Ok going down the things. We used to gather in the tunnel just next to the stairs before they blocked it all up. That underpass would be able to tell a few good stories if it could talk 👮♀️
