I bought tickets for Rage Against the Machine in El Paso, TX. That was literally supposed to happen before the pandemic. And then it hit and they held our tickets because "the band was still scheduled to perform". Fast forward 2 almost 3 years later, the band cancels the tour and ticketmaster refuses to reimburse our tickets. What they get away with is beyond disgusting and borderlining criminal. Someone needs to put an end to them already.

You may want to check with Ticketmaster. I had tickets for Rage Against The Machine as well in Portland, OR and after 3 re-schedules our date was cancelled as well and I got a full refund last month.
When the pandemic hit I learned all about Ticketmaster's refund policy. If a show is postponed you are eligible for a refund after a new date is announced. After the new date is announced you have 30 days to request a refund. If a show is cancelled (the 2023 RATM show in Portland was cancelled, all previous dates postponed) then you are eligible for a refund. I had tickets for Judas Priest last fall when they had to postpone and at that time I was told if new date was not announced in something like 6 months I would be offered a refund.

Artists taking a cut if they are Big enough is ok for me. However the real problems are others, Ticketmaster has a monopoly on the industry, they can charge whatever they want, put dynamic pricing and even control scalpers. Recently in Mexico Bad Bunny did a massive concert (a venue for 85,000, sold out for 2 nights) and was a fiasco, tickets oversold and manny were duplicated (Even the ones printed in authorized places) and literally thousands could not get in with real purchased tickets that in some cases were over 400 dollars + charges.

When scalpers have LITERAL CONVENTIONS on how to do this and own a dozen accounts, THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS! It hurts the fans, the artists, and the venue!!! You resell one front row ticket for a few grand and resell nothing in the balcony, but the venue has no idea and hires enough people for a sold-out show. No merch or concessions are sold upstairs, and fans that would have paid normal price but were priced-out don't come.

Meanwhile as I kept trying, the seats disappeared and the strange "charity" section prices kept going up. My guess is they were trying to push their phone app instead of letting me just use a laptop.
