  • It's springtime and ready to plant a garden. I just needed a place to plant my vegetables, so I built a raised garden bed. I forgot to mention in the video, but all of the wood I used is cedar.

    When you fastened the two-by material to cover the staggered joints you could have driven the fasteners in from the inside surface of the wall material affording deeper penetration into the thicker wood. As well, hiding the screw heads literally underground,

      When I was designing this I was avoiding having screwed under the dirt. I was concerned about them reacting and rusting. But now that I've had more time to think about it, I'm sure the ceramic coated screws I used would be fine underground. I like your idea for hiding the screws like that, especially since that would also make it stronger. Thanks for sharing!

      Thee is no such a thing as "pre-drilling." One either drills a hole or one does not. The technique of drilling a hole into which one will drive a fastener so as to reduce or eliminate splitting the material is known as "drilling a pilot hole."
