I was there visiting Disneyland for the first time one evening during that period when the stage rose up from the ground, and there was the band with Buddy Rich. Good lord. This recording does no justice to the dynamics of that performance. It was one of the grandest live performances I've ever witnessed, and Buddy was in top form that night. The audience was simply mesmerized. We couldn't applaud them enough. Thanks guys for one of the great memories of my life. And, thanks for the post!

Steve Marcus was a great sax player. That solo has parts in it from his solo in "Foreplay" the 1972 Larry Coryell song.

I wish I had an occasion to see him live, alive. It seems he was the kind of man who made you wanna learn to play the drums, and at the same time, who made you persuaded that it was a ludicrous idea. Know what I mean?
At 01:37 and 02:19 Dave Carpenter gives a huge slap in the face of any slap bass player. It's unbelievable.

Each of Buddy's hand must have had a 1200hp engine powering them...that's the only explanation of how they can go from 0 to HOLY SHIT in an instant!
