For those of you who 'bag' on this song, and the flute soloist, you are not sure of what you speak of.
Buddy Rich and his Band were known in the 70's as an 'Attack Band'..........hard driving and tons of energy that went non-stop.
One of Buddy's heroes was the impeccable Count Basie.
This song is a tribute to the Bluesy Count Basie Band and is therefore bluesy and slow with rhythm thrown in.
How often do you get to see a flute solo that has rhythm and blues mixed in?
    A change of pace.

Trombone solo is John Leys. Flute solo is Don Englert. He left the band not long after this

Buddy's face when that waitress walks in front of the camera near the beginning... Flawless, just like his drumming and many editions of his bands.

An incredible song, but an over the top flute solo that just blows one away............no pun intended.

No it's a fellow named Greg Hopkins. He was on the band from 71 to 74
