  • Are you thinking of visiting Salzburg in Austria at Christmas? If so, then check out this TOP things to do and see at Christmas in Salzburg, Austria vlog.
Starting off in Munich, Germany, we continue our search to find Christmas. We jump on the train and head to Salzburg in Austria.
We were only there for little over 24 hours, but we crammed so much into the day and would love to share that Christmas journey with you.
After checking into our hotel - Lasserhof, we made our way to Schloss Mirabell, or Mirabell Palace to check out the small, but perfectly formed Christmas markets around the palace walls. We then took a look at the palace gardens, which is more famous for the Do Re Me scene in the musical film of The Sound of Music, starring Julie Andrews.
We headed towards the main old town, over the famous Makarsteg Bridge over the Salzach River, passed the birthplace of Mozart and into the main Christmas market at the foot of the Hohensalzburg Fortress.
We decided to go on a bit of an adventure and make our way 25 minutes by train to Oberndorf to visit The Silent Night Memorial Chapel.
This is a memorial chapel built on the site of St Nicolas Church, in Oberndorf, which is where Joseph Mohr and Franz Xaver Gruber first performed their newly written carol, Silent Night, or Stille Nacht for the first time, on Christmas Eve 1818.
If you find this part of the video, be sure to check out our next video, which is a full vlog about the Silent Night Chapel. It features everything you need to know about visiting it, transport, costs, facilities etc.
After a beautiful sunset at the Silent Night Chapel, we head back to the Christmas Markets in Salzburg to spend a lovely evening soaking up the Austrian Christmas atmosphere, before getting some food at the famous Gablerbrau Restaurant, one of Salzburg's oldest Inns then heading back to the Lasserhof Hotel to get some rest after a long day of walking and travelling.
The following morning, we only had around 2 to 3 hours to look around, before we had to get our train back to Munich airport, but we managed to check out more of the beautiful city of Salzburg. We found more hidden Christmas markets and found the birthplace of Joseph Mohr - of Silent Night fame.
As we were in Salzburg, we had to stop by Wills' favourite shop in the world, 'Christmas In Salzburg' - a shop we discovered around 20 years ago when we visited Salzburg for the first time.
It was a very busy 24 hours, but hopefully this video will show you the things you can see in do if you only have a day or so in the beautiful city of Salzburg, Austria at Christmas Time.
If you're still feeling Christmassy, make sure you check out the rest of this series of Searching For Christmas, starting in North Wales, then heading down to London, over to Munich, Germany and then finishing in Salzburg, Austria.

    ⭐ About Postcard & A Pint:
Welcome to the official Postcard & A Pint RUclips channel.
Postcard & A Pint was thought up by my partner, Rachel & myself, Wills one day while taking our daily 1 hour exercise during the lockdown of 2020. All of a sudden, we were spending more time together, not working 6 or 7 days a week in the arts industry, and binge watching travel programs, and we were actually really enjoying it, and it made us re-evaluate what was important in life for us. Now back to working 6 or 7 days a week again, with very little time off, our happy time is getting out there on our brief times off together and making short travel videos that we are now sharing with you. It's just a bit of fun, and great for our sanity. Your support is hugely appreciated x
