    Cut-Rate Commander - Precon Upgrade Guide for Divine Convocation & Kasla, the Broken Halo from March of the Machine #mtg #commander #edh #mtgmom #mtgmachine
    The Phyrexian Invasion has finally reached Zendikar at the climax of March of the Machine as one of its key battlegrounds across the multiverse, with the newly compelated Nahiri leading it. However, the natives of this plane have weathered the apocalypse before against the Eldrazi and its people, led by Kasla, the Broken Halo and her host of angels, will against fight for the survival of their world until their last breath.
    In this precon upgrade, we'll be building upon the base builds already solid convoke and token heavy gameplan by giving it some more reliable means to weaponize our tokens and close our games with them, weather that be by turning them in repeatable burn, using them to proc alternate win conditions, or just turning them sideways for maximum damage - as well as making some quality of life changes to the build by adding in additional convoke spells to proc our commander more often, more efficient token generators to get us the bodies we need to help convoke our spells, and a handful of tutors to improve consistency - leaving us with a final build that can reliably flood the board with tokens to convoke spells with, then turn those same tokens to a devastating wincons against our opponents.
    Let me know if the comments below if you agree with my choices and/or what you would add to the deck instead. Also, let me know know who you would like to see next by voting on in the comments on the three choices of commander listed at the end of the video.

      Cards you should look into:
      Throne of the God-Pharaoh (~$4)
      Young Pyromancer
      Martial Coup
      Intangible Virtue
      Horn of Valhalla (doubles as a token generator or wincon by buffing commander)
      Obelisk of Urd (I know we have a lot of different token types so it could be better, but it's a colorless convoke and if you don't have a lot of one token type, at worst it can change your commander into killing in 3 attacks instead of 5 when unblocked)
      If you want to lean into untap and tapping opponent creatures:
      Junk Winder
      Arbiter of the Ideal
      Opposition
      Leyline of Anticipation (~$3) + Drumbellower
      If willing to spend a bit more on this untap strategy (~$10 each). Haven't personally got these yet other than dramatic reversal to replace village bellringer since i'm going for noncreature spells to make tokens, but they seem like they'd have potential:
      1. Intruder alarm
      2. Kiki-jiki, mirror breaker (combos with village bell-ringer & intruder alarm)
      3. Dramatic Reversal (cheap) + isochron scepter

    Might i suggest "Plargg, Dean of Chaos" or at least his backside "Augusta, Dean of Order", attack with 1 of your tokens and untap all creatures you control. iT is very budget friendly

      Yeah, Jeskai Ascendancy is probably one of if not the strongest card in the build for the sheet amount of value it can generate our of our creatures by allowing them to convoke more and more spells for us.

      Fair enough - they are all pretty solid with a few tweaks (except for maybe Growing Threat, which needs a complete overhaul) and they should be available for the next few months, so you have plenty of time to decide if you want to get one or not.

    I suggest Eligeth Crossroads Augur. He's a fairly hefty flying beatstick that turns Kasla's trigger into a draw 3.

    Rem and Traft are definitely the superior commander. Lots of ways to pump out all 3 tokens in a turn.

    • @GrazzetMTG
      @GrazzetMTG  Год назад +2

      If we're going all in on untapping our creatures and token creation, I would have to agree, since getting a maximum of 12 bodies per rotation is certainly nothing to scoff at. I would certainly wouldn't mind building around this teamup commander to see just what they would be capable of with the proper enablers.

    • @GrazzetMTG
      @GrazzetMTG  Год назад

      Personally, I think the only thing that's keeping this decks potential maximum power level down is the lack of "good" convoke spells in its colors. But even with the tools it does have, plus Jeskai Ascendancy Shenanigan's, this deck can function much better than one would think with just a few minor tweaks.

  • @BalefulStr1x

    Opposition is pretty savage. When you don't have spells to convoke but still want to impact the board, just keep threats and mana on lockdown.
    As for more cash demanding upgrades, Grand Crescendo is great in that regard. Instant spell make however many tokens you need AND make your board indestructible? I'll take that all the way to the bank

    • @GrazzetMTG
      @GrazzetMTG  Год назад

      Opposition is indeed fantastic to repeatedly lock down lots of stuff with our wide array of creature tokens and I agree with you regarding Grand Crescendo as well, which is why I suggested it in the upgrades (since its a bit too pricey to include in the base build to keep it under $75).

  • @Wilden824
    @Wilden824 Год назад +2

    I'm honestly shocked to not see Augusta, Dean of Order in this list, I feel that she is way to synergistic to be sidelined, especially with the commander being an evasive body that's going to trigger her untap ability every combat which would mean not having to decide between attacking OR convoking

    • @GrazzetMTG
      @GrazzetMTG  Год назад +2

      That is a very good point. Augusta, Dean of Order us effectively a boardwide untap of us since our commander is evasive and powers up our token army as we attack/block with them. I would certainly try her our in this build and see how she performs! Good suggestion!

    People whom I show this upgrade to all seem to think that cutting mentor is insane because of how good he is, but I don't feel he has a ton of impact whenever I play him.

    • @GrazzetMTG
      @GrazzetMTG  Год назад +1

      It depends on the deck really. Because we're going to be spending so much of our mana and resources casting our convoke spell and/or ways to generate tokens to cast those spells in the first place, we won't have too much mana left over to pump into Mentor of the Meek - which is why opted to run more "passive" sources of draw that still generate card advantage but cost us no mana to use.
      Still, Mentor is a solid card and, if you want, would still fight nicely into this build.

  • @tomfirens1400
    @tomfirens1400 Год назад

    Good build but it seems to me this is the weakest precon deck after upgrades so far. Seems very clunky to play and very vunerable

    • @GrazzetMTG
      @GrazzetMTG  Год назад +1

      You know, initially I though the same thing when I first started building around Kasla, but during testing I found that the build is much more reliable than one might think. Since our tokens are effectively mana dorks for our convoke spells, they can easily help us recast our commander (making removing her sometimes a mute point for our opponents, especially on our turns), and the card advantage / cantrip she provides adds a LOT of consistency to the build.
      I suppose whether she is indeed the weakest is up for debate, but, at least in my personal experience, out of all the commanders I've covered for MOM so far, Kasla has been able provide me with the longest and most spikey turns every (primarily through Jeskai Ascendancy Shenanigan's).
