Great video. Don't think I can willingly support this product with how much they dropped the ball but you took it in a great direction and you get my view for the work you put in
I don’t comment often but man your builds have been incredible, my Eowyn deck has been feared by my friends and I thank you for it 🙏 keep it up, you are awesome
Two further upgrades I highly recommend: Intruder Alarm: It's easy to give your slivers haste and to have them tap for mana. This allows you to generate enough mana to cast as many slivers from your hand as you like. Mana Echoes: Similar to Intruder Alarm, this allows you to pay the non-coloured costs with ease - including encore from the Gravemother.
I'm a little late here but I can't thank you enough for how detailed these upgrade videos are, including this one! I admire all the hard work you put into them and they are super addicting to watch! Keep up the great work!
Awesome videos and upgrade guide excellent stuff! Really enjoy the lore part brings back memories of old when slivers and were first introduced back in tempest.
as usual nice work with the upgrade should inform of the most important part about Thorncaster sliver was not mentioned the game will practically just end if you have venom sliver in play because it gives deathtouch and with thorncaster you can simply just shoot every single non indestructible/non hexproof or shroud creature to kill them and ofcoarse particually win con upgrade....this is like thee most dangerous upgrades in the deck you can possibly do but they work so well with gemhide and manaswept sliver..... and thats armagedden, Ruination, or/and Catastrophe. simply put if your brave enough to do this land wrath just ends games with the slivers
Fantastic video as always, I already upgraded 2 decks taking advice from your videos and they been an absolutely joy to pilot. Keep up the amazing content!
As cool as Gravemother is, I actually think Hivelord is the best commander for this build. As a Sliver player, you are going to be targeted, and the one thing that Slivers are really weak to is creature removal, so having a commander that makes all of your Slivers indestructible I think is better than a commander who does a one-time recursion, as powerful as that may be. I think people just forget Hivelord is legendary sometimes because he's not one of the two foil commanders, but he is the best commander for Slivers in the precon.
I love your builds. I just completed this one and will play it this week in my play group. I have 3 of your other builds in my collection and they do very well. Thank you and congrats on nearly 20k subscribers!
Dont forget the combo elements of the deck: basal sliver/ashnod’s altar, and dormant sliver allow you to draw and play alot of stuff through the loot sliver or mindlash sliver. Blasp act and insta kill if you encore the damage sliver. Running things like jarad’s orders and buried alive can rly give you an explosive late game.
The Eldrazi Unbound precon should be dropping (hopefully) by not this, but by the follow Saturday - so stay tuned for that - and maybe I'll take you up on that offer to do a deck tech on one of my personal favorites.... I would need to just narrow down which one!
Brood Sliver (Sliver token on combat damage to player) is such a lovely combo with Bonescythe Sliver (double strike) and any of the power boosting Slivers.
love your take on the sliver precon and will consider a lot of things when building up my upgraded deck! though i will keep in descendants fury since not only can you sac the encored tokens but you could sac a sliver you want to encore because of a stacking effect it has a lot of synergy in the deck in my opinion :)
That's fair. Descendants Fury can undoubtable see use in this build, particularly when using encored tokens to turn them into real slivers from our deck before they sac themselves away - but the issue I found was that there are a LOT of moving parts that need to line up for it to work optimally. For starters, we need our it and commander out, a sliver in the graveyard, enough mana to encore out said sliver and then we have to get one of the encored slivers in for damage - which if our opponents are smart, they simply avoid (assuming that our slivers aren't evasive) by blocking the tokens - which can often leave us in a position to sac a "real" sliver for what will generally be a 2 or 3 drop sliver from our deck. That said, one could argue that getting a main deck sliver into the bin is actually a good thing since it sets up our commander's encore and that we should have AOE evasion most of the time anyway - so that makes it a bit more manageable. That still doesn't solve the issue of usually hitting small cmc creatures, but since slivers are more about quantity that quality, that be enough as well - so at the end of the day, we can run it by preference.
May I inquiry about the sinergy of Basal Sliver with encore? @GrazeetMTG, have you consider it ? I am a little bit skeptic but Encore 1 mana Sliver to sac each for 2 may be a strong snowball right ?
Theres always someone with an opinion that differs from said video but i must say this build is REAAAALLY GOOD! My ONLY thought where it could be inproved is for ONE creature..... Magma Sliver. Ive said my piece.
Welcome back! Great work as always! I know there's far too many new commanders being printed to realistically keep up, but have you thought of adding an older commander you may have missed in your polls? Probably not realistic, but I enjoy your builds/philosophy and I will always be interested in seeing more neat deck ideas.
I would cut Herald's Horn too. It's mana reduction doesn't work with encore or replicate. There are a ton of better options. One card i want to try is Teferi's Veil, which is 0.99 cents and lets you phase oit all your encore tokens to keep forever. It also can protect your attackers from sorcery speed mass removal. Only downside is the slivers left on the board will lose stat bonuses of the phased out slivers.
I think you missed the mark on Descendant's Fury. Consider how well it synergizes with Gravemother.. you attack and a sliver(with an ability that stacks well) hits face, then you sac it, get a filler, the next turn your encore the original, and now have 3+ of it, hit face again, and you can sac one of the tokens for a free creature or sac another sliver that you specifically want to have a bunch of the next turn. You keep comboing without losing numbers.
I can see where your coming from and on paper you'd be right - but in testing I found that Descendant's Fury is a lot less reliable than one would initially think. Since a sliver needs to get in for damage, our opponents will usually block the sliver that they know we want to get through to sac (whether it be a sliver with a stackable ability or a encored token), either preventing us from getting any value off it or alternatively, forcing us to choose whether or not to sac another sliver that did get through that we would rather keep due to its ability. That said, we do have a decent number of evasion granting slivers, so getting in reliably for damage is not impossible - so I can certainly see the argument for keeping it in and, if it works for you, I would say you do you!
so a budget card that works well with the encore ability is legion loyalty so you get 6 tokens on average instead of 3 also like the descendants' fury sacking one of the six tokens
I can see the argument to include it but the issue I encountered when running Reflections of Littjara in testing was that it's a 5 mana do nothing enchantment that takes time to generate value - which one can argue that so does Tribute to the World Tree, but at least it only costs 3 & helps generate a huge amount of card advantage, which is helps offset the rate at which we'll be casting our typically low cmc slivers. That said, Reflections of Littjara is still a very good include to generate more board presence, so if you find that the decks speed and card advantage generation is already good enough, I would look into maybe cutting Beast Whisperer or Elven Chorus for it instead (which are CMC 4's and wouldn't affect the curve as much is swapped for a CMC 5).
Sure! The short version was access to green - as we wanted to keep the tapped tri-lands that gave us access to green since a good chunk of our ramp package needs to function and, if can cast those spells, we can then get access to all our other colors. So we kept most of the lands that produced green mana, swapped others with triome's that also tapped for green that we could fetch with our non-basic land ramp spells to give us even more consistant access to our colors, and then changed out the rest for Painlands to help speed up our mana base some more (since it is quite glacial out of the box for a deck that want to be aggresive). Hope that helps shed some light on my through process!
Are you going to do a Rakuramel deck? If you do, I’d look into putting hive stone in it’s cheap and it puts less pressure on to choose sliver as raku’s type cause it makes everything a sliver
Grazzet has the smoothest commentating voice I’ve ever heard. Pair that with the incredibly detailed videos and you have the best DeckTech RUclips channel of all time
That would be interesting but yeah, it looks like that didn't happen this time around. More legendary slivers would have been nice through, reprints or otherwise, just to get a bit more mileage our of Sliver Gravemothers 1st ability.
