I like to use extra dark green leaves. Wash them , cut them in strips. Cook in a separate boiler with a little cooking oil until tender. After the white
cabbage is done, drain the liquid off green cabbage strips and add to white cabbage. This makes the presentation better and it doesn't affect
the taste, just the appearance! Love your dish 😍

I know this video is a year old, even so, I cook my smothered cabbage almost the same except I add bell peppers minus the onions. I also use smoked jowl is a thick cut smoked bacon if you're from the south. I'm from down south. (Tennessee) Love your channel Ms Chris, reminds me so much of my mother and my grandmother Ma'dea cooking, which is how I learn to cook soul food. ❤️

i watched your "pissed off" segment. It is obvious you confront issues head on. Kudos to you. So many of us rely on you and your recipes for dishes we want to try but don''t know the methods. I have accessed your site so often to prepare dishes and I've NEVER been disappointed. To you I say KEEP ON KEEPING ON!

Hi Chris I want to try your cabbage recipe but there's only one problem can I use green onions for my dish instead? My husband is allergic to the regular onions but I so want to try making this dish.

Ma’am, I’m trying your recipe today. I usually make it Caribbean style. I just wanted to let you know you remind me of my Grandmother so much. Especially with that Cast iron skillet cornbread on the stove! God love you ! You brought tears to my eyes . Even your hands look alike. Happy 2020 New Year !

I love the big outside leaves of the Cabbage. I collect them when my friends don't want them and dice them into tiny little pieces and cook them with collard greens and ham hocks.
