For clarification, this race prob came down to thousandths of a second (not hundredths).
The Lynx cameras they're using are probably running between 2000-3000 fps.
So, the actual times were prob like:
1:45.896
1:45.902
... which would be 6-thousandths, not 1 one-hundredth. It looks like 1 one-hundredth bc the results round up to the nearest hundredth. And the results only display 2 decimal places.
That's good background. Thanks for the added context.
Added context? There is no added context. He was correcting the mistake. How the fuck can a commentator of athletics not know the ins and outs of what 'time' is ? God it's embarrassing for yanks.
@@fixxxer7030 what mistake? It was officially 1/100th of a second. Math much?
@@fixxxer7030 what are you talking about? The time posted said .01, so the commentator said .01. That’s it. Do you want him to guess how many thousandths of a second it was on a live broadcast lmao
There is no way .902 rounds up to .91. It was probably more like 1:45.904 and 1:45.906
That scallywag ripped something silly today
thats a proper insider hahahahah
@@michelgrosser9336 yessir, I had to
Damn Aussie!!
"Messy like a sunday dinner"
Thought the same thing. Loved it, and wondered if he wanted to rethink it.
@@NCAAChampionships No way. He practiced that and was ready me thinks.
Yes what does that mean hahahahah!!

What a great quote!
That boy Mclear been through the trenches man. Injuries and all for the past few years. Underrated performance in my opinion.
Gritty race too
I like Hunter and everything but I was kind of hoping McLear pulled it off. Always cool to see a mid major guy go after it in these big races.
Me too, but great race Hunter
Dirty move on the curve by McLear, didn't deserve the win. Hunter ran him down on Pure Hate.
@@terraflow__bryanburdo4547 I wouldn't say that was dirty.
@@la4christ877 Meh...we'll call it "scrappy". The better athlete won.
@@terraflow__bryanburdo4547 Theres always gonna be some pushing and shoving in the last lap of a competitive indoor race
If he didn’t get boxed out for the entire race he was looking at a 1:45 flat lmaooo
if he went out to lane 2 off the bend it was his
Oregon just slaughtered the distance events.
Not uncommon for the Ducks over the last 55 -65 years
@@cjcurtis8944 very true.
2:16 heart breaking moment for one, big moment of celebration for the other
pretty dirty running from the Tech guy, amazed that he didn't get DQ'd.
which Tech?
I thought it was more of the Iowa State runner who didn’t want to let anyone pass him
The tech guy cut him off on the turn.
Yes. He cut off the leader, the guy in red did, right before McLear cut Hunter off, which wasnt as bad. I hated racing indoors. What a brutal race. Charlie had a 1:44 in him, had to just go for the win since he was boxed the entire time.
@@naturalbrohemian3502 Charlie is in 1:43 shape in a well-paced outdoor race. I also have Hocker 3:48-49, Teare 3:49-3:50. An incredible lineup in Eugene right now.
"It was messy, like a Sunday dinner" This dude practices hard for his interviews!
nah he’s just aussie mate
These past couple of days have been crazy! Another great race
That guy that got second was all over the place banging Into everyone
Aggressive racing. It's a good tactic and it helped him almost get the job done.
@@EliMarszalek no doubt everyone looked stressed
He patiently settled on the inside then made him manly move. Very smart of him.
Every distance event especially indoors are very touchy. So I’m not surprise
@@EliMarszalek it's not aggressive, it just comes off as inexperienced, his stride was all over the place. I honestly think that if that was the diamond league or a higher level race, he could easily been reviewed and disqualified
The guy in all red from Texas Tech kept on blocking people. I'm glad he didn't win.
McLear tries to get clear, but Hunter hunts him down. Perfect.
Find me anyone that can run 1.45 and sink pints like this man, Devon is red.
Messier than a Sunday dinner
Great run from Hunter, but I'd liked to have seen him go and congratulate McLear for a great race. Just good Sportamanship.
He did
already saw it on that one arabic channel
That Ohio dude was not playing nice. Glad the Oregon dude won
“Messy like a Sunday dinner.” I’m gonna use that quote for sure!
McLear kinda deserves that loss giving his antics in the last 300m...
You don’t know what you’re talking about. It’s indoor racing there’s always bumping to get out.
@@jjl2506 Not like that. I did indoor both in hs and college, I know what bumping, rubbing, and even clipping is and have done it myself.
Future suggestions for outdoor- normal race thumbnail with an exciting video title .
That way the thumbnail doesn’t spoil the race finish :)
Jason Gomez was robbed. He ran a great race until getting fouled.
He was absolutely fouled, that jerk that got 3rd should have been dq. I think he was getting gomez back for doing that earlier, though gomez was not nearly as flagrant. He should have been 3rd.
It’s great to see all these athletes trained VERY well during the pandemic.
That’s what he gets for cutting him off
You’re dumb as fuck. It’s indoor racing there’s always bumping and cutting up not on purpose just how it is. Nothing wrong from anyone here great race stop hating you sad weirdo
All these comments on the 2nd place guy being too rough is laughable. It's the NCAA D1 indoor 800 championship and you want him to not be aggressive for positioning?
you can pass people without cutting them off. in fact you are obligated to by the rules
I'll never forget that photo finish
Aussies are turning it up lately in distance running lfg
That only 1 dislike against 661 lol
That has to be the closest photo finish I've ever seen, particularly won by the coming from behind Guy.
Miami University in Ohio representing!
52 sec split.....that's faster then my old outdoor 400m time lol
Is it me or did they look like it was sped up really fast lol
Way more interesting watching NBA. These men are giving every ounce...... AND No flopping
Why put spoilers in the thumbnails?
1:45 while running in lane 2 for most of the race!
Finley is still the man
Finley ran a very good strategic race.
Can you say comeuppance! Nice dip...
people really disliked this video.... im dissapointed
Finley, solid run too.
Ol Chuckaroo
If you are the strongest runner why stay in the back and risk getting boxed in?
Glad Hunter reeled in McClear who impeded both Hunter and the Hedeilli on the last lap.
No he didn’t. Just cause you like Hunter doesn’t mean the others did anything wrong. You’re blinded
@@jjl2506 Even if Hunter didn't win, I didn't want McClear to win as he was all over the place. He clearly impeded Hunter with about 160 to go and then cut across on Hedeilli with 100m to go. I wouldn't have minded someone else winning.
@@trackandfieldarchive I agree but his actions were less egregious than what the Texas Tech athlete did to the Iowa State athlete when he possessed the front inside position.
Hunter could have saved himself a lot of effort and energy with a lead out strategy instead of allowing himself to fall to the back of the pack early on. He ran a lot farther having to bump up against other racers and go wide around the curves. His talent is much better than anyone in this field and he could have afforded to break the wind for those behind him and lead the race from start to finish and still come out with an easy win instead of what actually happened.
I arrived to the same conclusion after watching this race. Hunter ran a cringingly poor race tactically. And the underlying explanation could be that he lacks confidence in his own running ability along with a lack of experience.
Ian wearing no split shorts fuck that
Mclear deserves that loss after what he was doing 😂😢😢
Finley, you got to lean. You have got to learn to lean at the finish line. The meets that matter are the olympics and the diamond league meets. Win these especially the olympics. Don't worry about having lost. Their can be only one winner. Everyone saw your valiant effort and you are honored. Don't be afraid to take it out in future 800m events. Don't wait for the other runners, just go. You need to get your time under 1 40, a 50.0 then a 49.9. You can do it!
under 1:40? are you joking?
24 year old senior? What am I missing here?
he ran a tactically poor race. got himself into difficult positions multiple times and used more energy than he needed to getting pushed and shoving, but still managed to win.
Hunter was wearing Nike super spikes so I give the race to McLear lol
yup
No
They’re all wearing them now...if not - bad on you;)
Guy in second straight up threw a temper tantrum like a child. Likeability is a huge part of the sport and he ain’t it.
Go ducks.
Only 1:45? ALL bums, I could beat that in jr high.
I would be very surprised is ther was a disqualification. The guy from Texas didnt impead on anyone, he held his position on the outside and tried to pass from there.
I disagree, he clearly cut into the space that the Iowa State runner had who was in front and on the inside. You simply are not allowed to do that. I will agree that he was later cut, tho' not as badly, by the Miami of Ohio runner.
Nick Symmonds would have outkicked Charlie Hunter easy, haha.
