After dealing with my addiction from age of 13 I’m now 44. I was married to my addiction like always said it’s a revolving door until you really want it(to be clean and sober!). Get clean relapse get clean again and do the same damm thing! INSANITY!!! I should have been dead. I died 3 times and you would think it’s over each time but this disease is tough to overcome! I lost 3 businesses but most of all my family!!! My daughter and a very strong woman that stuck with me through more than she should have. Several rehabs later I’m finally done working on myself to get back the relationship with my family! One day at a time!!! Much love to all those we have lost yo addiction and to those out there still needing the help!!!

I've never been a drug addict, never even did any drugs or smoked a joint or anything, but my now grown son was, and most recently our teen daughter. In the beginning, we thought it was weed and thought THAT was bad enough when we caught her coming home high.
Then, a few months later, found out that wasn't it. It was a shocker when we found out our sweet little angel girl was on meth, at 15 (though we didn't find out until she turned 16). How do you process THAT? Almost two years of craziness went with that. I know many have gone through it much longer, and I'm so sorry for all the grief you've had, I do know it's hard.
I'm thankful our daughter has stopped and is 7 months clean now! Praise God! They're both doing great now and I can only thank God.
If you're a parent or love an addict, please DON'T give up! They can change when they get to the point of knowing they have to. Just...don't...give up.

I can not even come close to imagining the pain of my children becoming addict's, especially to something like meth. As parent's we can only hope/pray that we are doin right by our kids. My heart goes out to you. I hope your kid's are doing better now. ❤️My mother was an alcoholic and pretty much everyone in my fam is either a drunk or drug addict. It is a terrible way to grow up.

just saw you'd replied. It's been 3 years since my initial comment.
So, update: our daughter is 21, married with a terrific 2 yr old son. He's our pride and joy!
She's been sober. That's not to say some relapses didn't occur, but nothing nearly as bad.
My son recently went to jail though. Not for drugs however, but a severe mental breakdown. While that's not illegal of course, breaking a restraining order is. So, there's that.
We are still praying for him every day.
I'm glad music is helping you. I find that playing piano/violin is a major stress buster for me. I don't have my piano anymore, but maybe someday.
Keep on doing what you're doing to stay sober and safe!!!

    • @pamelaplumley3366
      @pamelaplumley3366 3 года назад

@@mercedesbenzalini3706 I just replied to Adam, above. So, I'll just refer you to that reply.
I was astonished my comment got replies after 3 years!! So, thank you!
You may not have children who are or were addicts, but being raised by an alcoholic is way more traumatic.
I was fortunate to be raised by Christian parents, who always were in one ministry or another. Definitely not bench warmers!
I was molested though for some time, and my folks never knew until I was in my mid-twenties. That gave me quite a diversified, if not distorted, childhood outlook on life. That set me up for Stockholm Syndrome and subsequently, marrying a user/abuser.
But I married better after that. Still with him after 28 years!
I figure we all go through our own personal fires in life, and it all equals out somewhere.
I pray you must never endure any problems with drugs/alcohol with your kids at any time. You've paid your dues in life.
      God bless,
      Pam

just dont ever get on buprenorphine aka suboxone or subutex and more. I got on it and i regret it and wish i just would have got off of the pills on my own, i did go through the opioid withdrawal and it was bad but i have a way harder time getting off of subutex than anything ive ever got off of, i even had withdrawal from lexapro cold turkey and that to me was a weird terrible feeling like so bad and scary, some people have am easier time than others for various reasons but dont replace opiods with sub because it is just another opioid. but it does make you high and it should only be used for two weeks or so max . i have been on it for over three years unfortunately because no one informed me how addictive it was. And the withdrawal lasts way longer and it is a weird opioid withdrawal. If you are one who cant and literally cant get off opiods then maybe it is okay for you if it makes you stop ODing or stealing and being violent and lawbreakimg, it will maintain you and you wouldnt steal for it for some reason unless you are just a theif at heart as it is. But only get or stay on bupe if you are in need of help badly and cannot do it yourself at all. It is a lot better than methadone too so dont do methadone especially

528 days today and I still suffer mentally and emotionally every single day...It's honestly one of the hardest things to do..When I think about how much self hatred it takes to do that to your mind and body it's terribly sad and makes me cry...I put my Family and closest friends through utter HELL..especially my Mom,daughter, and boyfriend of 13 years..I did things I would've never done if I had been in my right mind..I pray for all the addicts still sick and suffering and to the ones that let their addictions take their lives...Thank God for another sober day on this earth and may I continue to have the courage to stay on this clean road!!!!

The best Christmas gift I gave to my loved ones and to myself was getting sober from opioid addiction. The withdrawal is horrifying, and I will NEVER turn back. Ive been writing a fanfiction with addiction as a major theme recently. I have no personal experience with it, but songs like this one help me understand the mindset that a person with addiction would be in. I personally have ASD and emotions are a difficult thing for me, but songs help me quite a lot in this regard.

This is relatable and soothing. When I met my husband, he introduced me to meth and now he's back in on a parole violation. I need to keep praying so hard...

I am also clean and in recovery for the past 16 mos with the help of a 12 step program. It does work if you work it! Thanks

just a little advice thats probably the worst thing you can do if you really do love this person dont leave them you have to be there for them and believe they have it in them to quit i remember when i felt like no one was there is the times i got more messed up on drugs (almost overdosed)

We can recover at one step at a time. Iam in recovery myself clean and sober for 18 months. We don't kill ourselves we kill the people who love us thay suffer more than the addict. My partner is in detox at the moment so I've been on both sides and believe me I've never thought how selfish and nasty I was until now. We must do it for ourselves first then do it for the people we love. Live not easy though it alot easier than when I was using.

Keep at it. I've got 4 years and 7 months clean and sober and I can tell you that I never want to go back to using. I cling to the desperation and fear that got me through those first few months. There is a lot of really good help out there. AA, NA, Oxford House. Everyone is different and needs different kinds of help so just figure out what kind of help you need and get it. I was homeless and penniless 5 years ago and today I have custody of my children, go to college full time, work full time, have a big two story house and just started my own company. There is hope. There is a way. Never give up. Never stop trying.
