I just recently bought a glass dip pen and I'm obsessed with drawing with them. Something about it is just incredible to me and gives the piece a genuine feeling, a normal pen is amazing to work with but the glass pen gives the lines more interest in my opinion, hard to get variety in your values though as the pressure doesn't really lighten the ink just make the line a bit smaller. Even so you'd have to buy a fine pointed glass pen to get really small lines as most of them have a minimum thickness. Not 100% sure how well they work as a buttplug but pray to God it doesn't break.....
I actually own this pen and used it for a lot of writing back in high school. It's occasionally unreliable, but it definitely feels way smoother than a standard pen

Glass pens have the advantage of being able to draw for a long time between dips. The line is also very consistent which is good if that is what you want. The somewhat random manufactur of the pen probably means some of them randomly turn out poorly. I'm guessing it can also be over Sharpened, leaving less of the glass to touch the paper as a bridge to wick over ink. Not enough contact for ink to start flowing.

You also twist the glass pen as to allow the ink to further flow down, if you can’t do it anymore and it can’t write/draw anymore, then as is the comment above, dip your pen.
Herbins glass dip pens, and their inks, are my favourite. I've not had much luck with inks like Noodler's or other drawing inks, but I use mine daily with Herbins Perle Noir ink, and Ferris Wheel Press's Spruce County Post with no issue.

I have one of these and I've noticed that non-waterproof inks work best :) India ink and waterproof inks dry sooo quick and are harder to clean off
