  • Kendrick Lamar won the Pulitzer Prize for Music album "DAMN.," making him the first rap artist to ever win an award historically dominated by classical music. In a rare interview with Japan's public broadcaster NHK, the Compton rapper talks about using Hip-Hop/Rap as a form of self-expression, being a voice for the young people, and the power of music.

When they lumped the elements together and shipped it abroad on a tour de Hip hop in the early 80s, it was the first glimpse of hip hop culture for many countries across the globe. Notable communities that the tour stopped at in Europe include France and Germany, and in Asia it was Japan. That's why they've got such a strong scene and roots connected to the some of that original flavor.
