Hi guys welcome to Our local gem , those deep concrete pits which had a foot of water in were to house telephone switching frames , the frames were too tall so they had to make the pits to accommodate them , the stairs used to go up into the old Guinness house which in the days before it was demolished used to pop up into one of the rooms below a sink on the wall ! It now sits quietly under a manhole cover outside sadly. There is plenty of information of HMS Forward on the net , as you are going down the steps at around 20.52 ish you will see a pipe on the ceiling on the left , this was used as a messaging vacuum tube from the commandants room in Guinness house to the operations floor down below ! And at the bottom of the stairs at the gate you will notice tucked away a machine gun post , just in case you managed to get that far uninvited you would have got shot if you were not welcome there ! Enjoy lads 👍
The wide tube in the 'Signals Distribution Office' would go straight up to the big house signals room where received messages would be put into a canister and dropped down
@ where did all the materials come from if you have ever worked on a building project above ground it’s a nightmare below the ground would be ten times harder where did all the labour come from 😵💫 my be the children built them after school
The brick-lined hole in the floor at the foot of the stairway is a grenade pit which would catch any that were thrown down from above and explode harmlessly in there
pixelating out no.1 fans arse made me chuckle. don't bother ian i'd already eaten 🤣 maybe you should sign him up for a bricklayer course, boys half way there got talent 👍🤣🤣
I really enjoy your explorations but sadly have to unsub with the constant using Our Lord's name in vain. I am maybe the only one but to me it's just unbearable to hear 😔I wish you all the best & sad to stop watching. (I know I am in for a bashing by other subscribers but I stand with Our Lord Jesus & using His name in vain is not right & hurts me deep every time I hear people doing it).
Hi friend you and the lads are doing a grand job. Please keep the great videos coming. 😊🎉
Thanks Ian and Chris and Number one
