Surprised you didn’t mention SAAB which was literally a fighter jet company and a car company at the same time up until a couple years ago 😳
SAAB is SAAB of the sky with both frozen in the 90's style
Try 1990, not a couple of years
@@aaron___6014 they still made cars in the 2000's
@@radradishradiator They were an airplane and automobile manufacturer at the same time up until 1990. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saab_AB
@@radradishradiator In 1989, the Saab car division of Saab-Scania was restructured into an independent company, Saab Automobile AB, headquartered in Sweden; General Motors and Investor AB controlled 50% each.
"Porsche, it's a little too small to get laid in, but you get laid in the minute you get out." I'm sold on getting a Vans now.
To be honest, I would pair Mooney with Lotus more than with DeLorean. They both have a focus on building small, underpowered, but efficient products that are fun to buzz around in, they both like being different, all of their products are variants of the same thing (2 seat roadsters for lotus, M20 variants for Mooney). Most of all, however, they both are on the brink of bankruptcy constantly, but always find a way to claw themselves back into production a few years later.
Came here to say this. Also, the Lotus philosophy of “simplify, then add lightness” seems like a match for Mooney. And the M in TBM is for Mooney, just like Lotus engineering has been involved other company’s successful designs.
The DeLorean Mooney comparison is definitely the one I disagreed with most. I never thought of Mooney being like Lotus but that makes a lot more sense.
Beat me to it. Now I wonder if any of my ideas are original.
Beat me to it. I was going to compare Mooney to Lotus because they both squeeze the most performance out of relatively low hp engines. I also took a little issue with the Beech to Volvo comparison. I've always thought of Bonanzas as the BMW M5 of the sky. Little more luxury, 4 passengers with a bit of luggage, and Autobahn 150mph all day.
Delorean was basically engineered by lotus… so it kinda still works.
loved the complementary color schemes here!
Haha, thanks. These colors don’t pick themselves
"Welcome back everybody!" 😆
Enjoyed your videos! 👍
Complete Walkaround and NoDak, this is my favorite comment section in all of RUclips.
As a car guy who only knows what an airbus a380 is, this was a nice watch
Airbus A380 would be the Neoplan Jumbocruiser Equivalent, only in a different era ;)
This is such a fun concept; if you think of more car/plane comparisons, feel free to make a sequel anytime! If the store ever comes back I'd love to see some of the car drawings on a coffee mug or something...
weed cat
Meanwhile Honda: just making both
The Piper/Dodge comparison is spot on!
Will get you there. In style? Nop. 😆 🤣
Personally I don't think it's accurate anymore, since dodgers main goal is to squeeze out every single horsepower out every car on their lineup
This was easily one of the best videos you've ever made. Entertaining as usual and informative/educational for those new to aviation! Great job 💯
Great video! In my mind, Diamond Aircraft is Audi: sleek, European, high-tech and very desirable.
That was a fun set of comparisons. Now I really want to test-drive them all!
better idea test fly the cars and test drive the planes
Was looking forward for this video! This was an accurate and hilarious representation of the aviation world.
Genuinely loved the slight departure from your standard formula! This was properly fun and I look forward to future very creative and apt videos to come from you.
This was definitely worth the wait! Your channel never disappoints!
Ah, Dodge. They don't do medium. They're either face-melting awesome, or steaming piles. I love mine.
Personally, I thought of Mooney kind of like Mazda. "How did they make this with zero money, and why did nobody buy it?". But Saab is probably a better comparison, if we ignore the fact they already made actual airplanes.
HAHA Mazda totally be like that
I am *highly* suspicious of the formula departure. However, I must admit this first was very entertaining! Do a tri-pacer next!
Glad to see you branching out from your usual format. Love the art and especially the storytelling. Thoroughly enjoyed!
By far one of the best videos you've made
More like this please! love the content
Great video! I loved it!
this was extremly accurate, what a great video!
The EXTRA/Ferrari comparison sounds so on point. Great job!
His description for Extra sounds like Lotus to me..
@@MainMite06 That's a fair view my fellow internet denizen.
This… is… so fantastic! I don’t think I have laughed so much in your videos. The comparisons were spot on! Thanks!
That was very well done. Awesome.
What a fun concept! WACO is definitely comparable to Morgan. They use modern day tech and combine it with beautiful 1930s styling. If you own either of them, no matter what's parked next to you at the pumps, EVERYONE is looking at you!
I was gonna say Bellanca since they like wood so much like Morgan, but WACO is a suitable comparison too
This was great! Needs a part2!
This video is fantastic. Unfortunately now I cannot unsee/hear any of this and will be mentally hearing "Dodge Stratus N1234 turing final for rwy36" etc
Nice! I always loved to hear what kind of personality some planes have in your other videos, and this video maxed out on that topic.
Great job!
Soo good! Thank you!
This is sooo accurate! The dodge comparison was solid gold!
Every single one of these is such a good take
When I saw this video, I fully expected it to end on the HondaJet. They sent their booth up at Oshkosh enough that I thought it was the vaporware of the skies. Until they actually started selling them.
Haha awesome video!
love your sense of humor. Keep up the great work!
Absolutely love this
This was a fun spin off type video! Been watching you since the beginning and great to see so much growth! Keep it up :)
This was really well done 👏🏽😆
Funny video. I enjoyed the cross thought of this. Keep em coming. Compare all kinds of things
Cool video, nice idea for a new format. Loved it.
Great video, very fun!
You're so freaking amazing, I love this channel. THANK YOU!
This video is way higher quality and thought out than I would expect. Awesome.
Two of my favorite things thank you!
This was amazing 🥰
Mooney installed the tail forwards. It's everyone else putting raked-back tails on subsonic aircraft who are doing it wrong.
Mooney also has that whole "trim the entire empennage" thing going on. That's pretty unique.
That was awesome!
Nicely done my friend 👏🏼
That is a wonderful comparison.
That was clever and fun! Highly enjoyable silliness.
Love this one. Spot on!
BCT! Thanks! Thanks for stopping by :)
Absolutely fantastic comparison.
enjoyed this
So spot on!!!
You're working through the whole library hey 👍😄
*This* is why I loove this channel and RUclips in general 😊
I've seen Cirrus compare themselves to Mclaren more than once, especially with those doors, the performance and luxury comparison, along with all the photoshoots they have together
yeah you can't carry your family in a McLaren though.
I feel like the Tesla and Cirrus comparison is spot on. Both more modern and futuristic companies. Both are some of the best selling today, and are the highest tech in both of their industries, and are both more modern and futuristic companies.
This........was amazing. Some of the pairings I would not have come up with, but man, you knocked it out of the park.
Great video
I think the Tesla spot is unclaimed. The Pipistrel is a flying Nissan LEAF (ie decent, well made vehicle, with some severe limitations), and there are some contenders like Bye Aerospace that are working to get there, but you can't be burning stuff for power and claim to be a Tesla.
Top notch Sir,,,
You nailed it
Totally spot on.
What a funny oddball video, just perfect!
This is really cool
I love how half of these got me confused and disagreeing at first with the comparison but then made total sense after you explained your point of view. 😆
Although to me I always thought of Beechcraft as the Cadillac of the skies, and it relates a bit better to being the luxury sibling of Cessna and Chevrolet owned by the same respective parent companies, GM and Textron.
Cirrus for me ALWAYS drew comparisons to European luxury brands like BMW and Mercedes. Expensive luxury planes to buy and own, and maintain, like a European luxury brand. Buying a Cirrus is expensive, the avionics are expensive, the parachute needs to be repacked after a certain amount of time, which is expensive, and they have very specific training requirements in order to get cirris-specific insurance which also adds to the cost, making Cirrus an expensive brand for the category of plane they are. Plus, BY FAR they are the most popular light GA plane that is often sitting at the premium FBOs parked with all the corporate jets and turboprops.
For Piper, I always thought of them more like Ford rather than Chrysler/Dodge, but the comparisons I think are interchangeable. The J-3 Cub to me is a lot like the Model T of aviation.
Maule to me always reminded me of the Ford Bronco, while the Super Cub was the flying Jeep. Although where the Bronco could carry A LOT, the Maule not so much (its useful load is actually pretty dismal, especially the big-engine models). So I think it being like Jeep also works well.
Extra being Ferrari makes total sense, but to me Lancair always reminded me of Ferrari. While not bred purely for competition, they are very popular in cross-country races and of course the Reno air races, and are incredibly sleek and stylish. Also very high performance, like a Ferrari, even the lower-powered models like the 235, 320, and 360.
Beech was considered the Cadillac of the sky, back when Cadillac meant the highest quality most solidly built vehicle you could buy (and you would pay quite a premium for). Still true of Beech!
Love this video.
If Cessna made Corvettes, they'd still be making a chrome bedazzled C1, just with a better engine and a digital dash. No, it's actually way more expensive than ever. Why do you ask?
I love how you ended that 😂😂
idea: Cessna 182 Skylane swapped with the 670 horsepower LT6 V8 from the 2024 Corvette Z06
I really like the illustrations
Perfect!
“Volvo: they’re boxy, but they’re good.”
I don't know much about planes, just cars, but this was a fun watch! Very nice little video
I feel like air tractor would be John Deere cause they both hold a massive market share they both are used by rural firefighter and they both are the most American company of their respective industry
Woow that's an interesting look!
Great video! I always saw Adam aircraft as the DeLorean of the skies, with a pusher configuration and futuristic looks similar to the Beech Starship
I was absolutely cackling at the Tecnam section! (Although, I must confess the Tecnam P2010 is an alright looking airplane.) I'd love to see a sequel - Super curious what automotive equivalent you would find for Varga.
Beautiful illustrations
We need more of this
You did an amazing job, I agree with pretty much all of them to be honest
This is pretty great haha.
This is a really cool video. Thanks! And certainly helps for someone fairly new to the aircraft brand sphere.
the chevy cessna comparison is on point
Just about every one was spot on!
Saab Group: Been there, done that.
please make a part 2 to this!
(and include lockheed)
this needs more views NOW
The Cessna paintbob on the C8 looks so good.
You should see Cessna's Nascar liveries: From Jamie MacMurray to Kurt Busch on the Ganassi #1 chevy
As a pilot, aircraft mechanic and automotive enthusiast, I'd say these were all pretty apt comparisons. Especially Beech and Volvo. Both are a joy to drive/fly, and generally lovely places to be. But an absolute chore to put a wrench to.
i recently started working for Joby Aviation, we use Vans RV-8 as our dedicated chase plane, never realized how awesome the RV-8 is until I saw it fly in person lol.
I've always seen Mooney as the Saab of the skies to be honest. They both have a very similar clear-cut lineup of models, simplistic and reliable designs, decently luxurious without a big luxury pricetag, and just a little bit weird and quirky as well! Similarly, both companies have traded owners and nearly gone bankrupt more times than you can count on your fingers haha!!
I think Saab is the Saab of the sky, though
@@JR737400 exactly saab literally makes planes 🤦♂
This video was very helpful to me, I live and breathe cars but I have no clue about anything when it comes to airplane brands, this was a fun way to learn!
As someone who knows next to nothing about planes or cars, this is brilliant!
Lancair - AMG. Low volume, hand made, hugely powerful. There are sports models and people haulers - but they are all extremely fast and can get you into a lot of trouble very quickly if you're not careful.
That's a good one.
ofcourse the ultimate combination is Saab and Saab, both make (or made) pretty cuttingedge vehicles while still staying cool
Loved the Volvo comparison 😂
Love a Baron. Flew one once. Washed it a lot more than once.
The TECNAM section had me cackling. I love this video
Hey, really like your content! If I can suggest an idea please make a Cost to Own sailplane with something like a Vintage Ka-6 or maybe a glass fiber LS3 as they tend to be quite cheaper than most powered aircraft.
a SAAB plane should be paired to a SAAB jet 😋
Hey there. Huge fan. love the channel. Could you do an cost to won on aerocommander and turbocommander.
Video suggestion: comparing aircraft of same brand.
For example, piper warrior, arrow, Cherokee, etc.
Maybe go over difference in form, function, and costs?
