    I just picked up my Palisade Caligraphy yesterday. You may have missed a "hidden" feature. I'm in town, sitting at a stoplight. I'm checking out the Hyundai app. My car beeps and message comes up on the dashboard that says "vehicle ahead of you is moving". Which is a polite way of saying the light is green so stop staring at your phone and start driving! :)

    Great video, Ed. I'm trying to learn new things for our Caligraphy. On the head up display, three half circles appear at either lower bottom corner for the blind spot, and a gray box, representing a vehicle, will appear and disappear as the real vehicle passes you. Absolutely superb.

    I have a 2021 Santa Fe Hybrid Limited. It has the Smart Park feature. One reason to use it (that no one has mentioned before) is if you approach the car after it has rained and you find a puddle in front of the door, then instead of stepping into the puddle to open the door, I simply move it forward (or back) and get in. One other item that no one has mentioned is that the Smart Park will only work on a flat surface. It you have an inclined driveway that leads to the garage, you CANNOT use the smart park to place the car inside the garage as the Smart Park will NOT drive the car on an incline.

    • @leaddog007007
      @leaddog007007 2 года назад +1

      My Hyundai has a power folding side mirror as well. The safety features are incredible. For example, after starting the car, if I don't have my seatbelt on, I cannot move the vehicle. Also, in reverse, the vehicle provides a constant beep to warn others. I simply love the car and I like it so much that in 1.5 years, I have driven 29,000 miles on it. Many times I get around 45 mpg after driving 30 minutes.

      @@leaddog007007how about reversing using smart park assist and going up the incline? My garage spot is lower and really tight. It would be really convenient for a car to reverse on its own from the garage spot and only then get inside.

      @leaddog007007 2 года назад

      @@boban61 Unfortunately, the Smart Park feature does not work on an incline. Our garage is higher than the road and I tried to press the Smart Park key to go up to the garage. The vehicle would not budge. I will try it again. I think the Smart Park feature needs a level surface.

    • @edsgarage001
      @edsgarage001  2 года назад

      Thanks for the comment!
      Unfortunately I don't have the opportunity to drive most of what's coming in these days as they're all sold... But I'll try to honour your request.
      Over 64kph, if the forward facing camera can see the lines on the road, then the vehicle will try to stay within those lines. It'll offer light steering assist to do so. It cannot overpower you though, it's very light.
      If the corner is too sharp, it will not be able to steer around it.
      At speeds below 64kph, you can also enable a similar system by pressing the button on the right side of the steering wheel. It does basically the same thing.
      Then there's highway drive assist, that's a combination of systems that make highway driving super relaxing. It further increases the ability of the vehicle to stay centered in the lane, but also uses adaptive cruise control to maintain its distance from the car in front of you. It also moves to one side of the lane or the other if you are passing other cars. It does a few other things as well, but that's the gist of it.
      Hda is active when you set your cruise control speed.

    Ultra sonic sensor does detect other than people. I had back pack in back seat and it's detected. Mirror Camera is from GM

    • @edsgarage001
      @edsgarage001  2 года назад

      Thanks for the comment .. But that's not entirely correct.
      The ultrasonic detector cannot detect inanimate objects.... That's not how it works.
      However, there are seat sensors that can, plus it recalls if you've opened the rear doors and then reminds you to check the rear seats before you leave the vehicle.
      The rearview mirror camera is the same tech as GM, yes. But it's not made by GM.

      You can raise and lower the headrest... The button is under the headrest, it's on the plastic piece where one of the headrest bars goes into the main seat.
      The button to move the seat forwards or backwards is the large horizontal button on the side of the seat. Push it forwards or backwards.
      Tow hitch is not standard from the factory, your dealer can install one for you.

    I have a 2023 Caligraphy - It has a DAW Driver Attention Warning system - annoying. You can not turn it off. Drove 1 hour the other day and it told me over 6 times to "Consider Taking a Break" . Let me decide if I want all these warnings. Also, if you consider buying one - check the back seat windows. Mine are hazy and others are complaining about the same thing.

    • @edsgarage001
      @edsgarage001  2 года назад

      Strangley, Hyundai did not include the option to disable it. Though in other hyundais, you can. Perhaps a future update will include that.
      The system will assume you're getting drowsy if it needs to correct your lane position a lot. You can disable Lane following assist if you don't use that, see if that helps.
      As for the windows, try cleaning them with 99% isopropyl rubbing alcohol.. makes a difference.

    Have they fixed the 4WD yet? The videos of people in these driving in snow/ice/mud/gravel are comically bad. One video had to call a tow truck to get home after going down a fire road, not too steep, not too rocky, and they couldn’t get back up.

    • @edsgarage001
      @edsgarage001  2 года назад

      The AWD system isn't the issue. It's actually quite adept at sending power to all 4 wheels and sending it where it needs to go.
      The problem is
      A) People who don't know how to drive, or use correct settings.
      B) The tires are meant for dry/wet pavement.. not snow, not mud, not off-roading.
      With better tires, the awd system really shines

    • @Erin-Thor
      @Erin-Thor 2 года назад

      @@edsgarage001 - Thanks… but one video showed they tried multiple modes, and the fire road was not extreme in any way shape or form. The wheel slippage in all modes was scary as hell. Granted this was on (I think) the first year model, but what it showed was a completely ineffective 4WD in all modes. I’ve yet to see a video proving this has been fixed.

    • @edsgarage001
      @edsgarage001  2 года назад

      I just watched several Palisade videos, specifically on snow, off road and a slip test.. All of them showcased the same good results.
      I think you might be expecting too much, this is a crossover that has a good AWD system. It's not a 4x4 with locking differentials.
      Compared with other companies, the Hyundai htrac system is one of the best, it uses over 50 different sensors and inputs to determine the best course of action. It's also one of only a few that's predictive, transferring power to the rear wheels immediately upon acceleration, not waiting for the front wheels to slip.
      These vehicles are all "open differentials" front and rear, so they need to use the traction and stability control system to brake the slipping wheels. This essentially means there's always going to be some wheel spinning whenever the vehicle is off camber. However you can see in pretty much any video that shows this, the wheel will be stopped for a split second as the system attempts to transfer power to the other side.
      This is a pretty typical design, however you need to keep in mind this is a large heavy vehicle on street tires.
