Actually, there may be many reason people won't magically stop to go to Walmart when big scandals are revealed. Perhaps people have other things to think (their own family for example ?), perhaps they don't know about each product of each shop, perhaps it is the only grocery store in the village, perhaps the competition has shady practises as well, perhaps they are preparing a revolution... Jake thinks humans are inherently selfish and money driven before he even makes this video, so he considers people are turning a blind eye to their fellow brothers, point proven ! But it is only the case if you trust it first, othewise, it does prove nothing about the general public. It is a quite protestant capitalistic point of vue not everyone holds.

@@entropicpedro Or the social structure is made in such a way, the people who are ready to easily make moral sacrifices are the ones who seize power on our political and economic system. If there is, for example, a competition to power (De Mesquita model), people who are ready for everything for power compete with some who are more ready to sacrifice some power for the greater good. Guess who wins ? In this situation, you can deal with Nestlé, DuPont, MacDonalds, DeBeer, Disney, Bolloré, Exxon-Mobil, Samsung, Bayer, Ikea, Nature, Universal, Starbucks, BlackRock and so on, by sharing economic power with everyone (another solution is to let it to an algorithm, but it brings a new set of problems). It means the most corruptible people won't seize power alone, and will have to deal with the majority of (more morally inclined) people. If people are not naturally bad (my position : I consider "good and evil" depends on people, with cultural factors, the ability to break our own ethical rules depends also on the person).

I'm assuming this sponsorship was worth six figures on its own for Jake to accept this low hanging fruit. I would say its better to have a more long term outlook and make even more money via a quality sellable rather than this cringe. there are plenty of other better products to promote and I'm sure your google add rev is at least a 10 dollar CPM in this niche. I was a cashier at Walmsrt in 1993. it was back to school time and very busy. A black mother was checking out and her little boy was bouncing around and leapt on the conveyor belt, which trapped his lower arm tissue tight in the belt. He began screaming of course. I instantly leapt on the belt with my full weight to give him a chance to be freed, which happened. I mentioned his skin color because a bruise or redness would not have been visible yet. His mother thanked me profusely but the Walmart supervisor was called over and scolded me in front of everyone for possibly putting Walmart in legal trouble.
I was ordered to put Walmart first and never do anything that even implied an accident. After another similar issue with them I left quickly and was told I could never work at Walmart again. The supervisor who told me that seemed to think that was a horrible punishment!!
Later Walmart put the lawsuits over overtime pay in the hands of a famous law office which is here...one of the first in the USA. My son was a courier there and lugged hundreds of boxes of Walmart records back and forth from the warehouse to the office and back for weeks. Finally he came and told me the law firm (Bouhan and Levy and the head lawyer owned UGA the Georgia mascot bulldog) and announced Bouhan had sent all the boxes back to Arkansas with the firm message that Walmart had NO CASE and had to pay up.

I'm from a town in Washington State called Chehalis; a town that is 2 hours from Seattle, Tacoma, and Portland, and 30 minutes from Olympia, with the main interstate, I-5, running right through it. Chehalis has a history of flooding. Wal Mart bought the cheapest land in town on which they would build their new store in either the late 80's or early 90's. I was too young to really remember it. The cheapest land in town was the swamp, in which the bulk of the floodwater collected, so naturally, every other year, the Wal Mart flooded. So they bulldozed and rebuilt it section by section on a giant slab of concrete, which displaced the floodwater even further into the town, so for years, in early June, it would flood every year, but would only catch the media's attention when it got especially bad in 2007 and 2009. There is a human wastewater disposal facility up the road from the Wal Mart. When it flooded, the facility backed up, and the town smelled like shit for a few weeks out of the year on top of that, and now they have this nice, new, gigantic Wal Mart that everybody still shops at despite everything.

I work at walmart, and my department is understaffed as fuck. but the worst part is, they refuse to fire people. so people who havent shown up in months keep getting shifts, and obviously they never come. i think walmart does this so they dont have to hire a new person who will come and then walmart will actually have to pay them.
another weird thing about working at walmart is everything goes through "walmart corporate". i live in canada, and work in a canadian walmart, but if i need to submit a change to my availability, it goes through american walmart corporate. when i was hired my resume was selected by american walmart corporate. this goes for everyone and everything. really makes you think how much shady shit is going down behind the scenes because everything has to go through this weird governing body of people i'll never see or know.

It’s the same issue at every Walmart, they hire the bare minimum amount of people to keep profits as high as possible. Any extra people and they’ll argue ‘we have too many people’, which is bullshit because we get issues of not working things fast enough. It’s a cycle of complaining that people aren’t working hard enough, then not giving that department enough people to make that work be possible. Then people leaving and the cycle repeats.
