- Relax and spend some time in the friendly town of Williams, Arizona. Take in the fresh mountain air and enjoy the sights of Route 66, the Grand Canyon Railway, Planes of Fame, the new Kadampa world peace temple, and an array of diners, restaurants and bars.
Williams is a great base from which to explore the surrounding region. the Grand Canyon is easily accessible by either car or, more romantically, by the iconic Grand Canyon Railway. Catch the morning Wild West gunfight before the train departs. if you're not catching the train then afterwards pop into the excellent cafe and gift shop at the station.
Williams was the last town on Route 66 to be bypassed by the Interstate. Happily this did not stop the town offering the passing traveller a variety of interesting shops in the historic downtown as well as a host of places to grab a bite.
Some Route 66 towns can look a little past their prime, but not Williams. There's still a buzzing community here and the town warrants an extended stay. I stayed at the Sheridan Inn. What can I say? Great rooms, faultless service and the most incredible breakfasts in the American West (probably!).

Hello, I am a new subscriber and I really enjoy your videos. I would like to learn a little bit about your background. Keep the videos coming.
Thanks for signing up! There are plenty of films to keep you busy. in fact the Williams film is one of the oldest on the channel. Basically I was a lawyer till I got burn out, relocated to rural Scotland and became a film-maker. The Channel Trailer film has more info. My aim is to make some of the most informative and best edited travel films on RUclips. I also have a new channel devoted to Scotland. it's called "eye scotland" and it needs more subscribers! :)

Great guide! We plan to go this summer for our channel, so was doing some research.
Thank you. Have a great time in Williams!
First of all, many thanks from Germany for your wonderful video. Your explanation is impressive and I‘m astonished, what this little town Williams can offer his guests. At the moment your video and the others about Arizona are a little replacement for me, for not beeing in Williams, Flagstaff and Prescott.Due to „Corona“ I had to cancel my whole sojourn. But as soon as I can make up this lost time... Williams I‘m comming !!! 🙋♀️
Thank you! It's definitely one of my favourite corners of the US and I thought that Williams was a gem of a town and deserving of a higher profile.

How do you book a train trip to williams az
I've no idea Richard. I would ask the Grand Canyon Railway if there are any connections. The only trains I saw passing through Williams when I was there were freight trains.
You end up getting that Pepsi?
Luckily I'm more of a root beer guy
Guys. Don't do it. Stay away from WIlliams, Arizona. Hwy 40 is wall to wall with criminal cops writing tickets. It's how this dried up town makes an income. It's a speed trap. The last time I had to drive through this area, in a space of 3 miles, 9 cops were writing tickets.
