Hi you all! This is Michael LaTella and I think of you always, I never wanted to leave there, it was the most rewarding job besides my medical field, to see and feel all the children's happy faces and singing songs. Before I left was being Santa's Head Elf, I'll be back again soon ❤❤

Me too. I agree. After an 2 day overnight stay out all over the s-rim, my feet were tired. Nice to sit in a plush a/c carpeted dome care with a drink in hand, even if it did get robbed, LOL.

I take this trip a couple times a year. never gets old. I still have anxiety when we get robed. the cowboys always remember my son as he grew-up from the time they made him cry till now that hes 18. one of them bent down to my son and said don't worry its just play acting. and he gave him a spent blank from his gun.

I lived just outside of Williams on what is now Coconino County Park property...Cataract Lake. Then it was 90 acres with two ranch houses. Williams was in a severe state of depression. I processed firewood for Crazy Jerry until a young friend I got a job for there lost the fingers on his fretting hand during a splitter mishap. He was 15. I didn't want to go back to work, though Jerry begged me to. I paid 60 dollars a month and drew my water from the lake until the Highway Department issued me a cease and desist order so they could use the water to build interstate 40. I loved the feel of America before the interstate system. Now everywhere is almost like everywhere else with the ubiquitous Mickey Dees and such. I grew up in Phoenix in a part of old town which was taken for the cross town freeway...the Moreland corridor. Too many people in such a fragile environment.
All that said, I would love to bring my wife to Williams once again and see what it's become. We don't usually do the tourist thing, but we would like to sample the train ride, the hotel and see what my beloved once home has become. Now living on the Canadian border on 50 acres within a state forest, I'm not a fan of what America has become, overall.

Yes, and it's "one of the biggest natural volcano areas in northern Arizona."
Which means there are other biggest natural volcano areas in northern Arizona--which means there are smaller ones too.
I wonder how many volcano areas northern Arizona has?

Too bad the Santa Fe railroad didn’t keep the original route running through Downtown Williams in addition to the Crookton Cutoff - until 2018, the Amtrak Southwest Chief stopped at a small platform located on the outskirts of town, and people had to take a shuttle bus to Downtown Williams. The ATSF built the Crookton Cutoff for a good reason (to provide a smoother route for freight trains), but if they had rebuilt the original route through Williams as well for passenger trains to use, then the Southwest Chief train could have made a stop in Downtown Williams and passengers could transfer directly to the Grand Canyon Railway at the same location.

What a disappointment based on another youtube review we decided to book this train ride 05/02/21 Don’t waste your money drive to the canyon cost was over $600.00 for my family of four round trip first class served a stale muffin and cold cup of coffee. If you don’t want to do the drive yourself from Williams
You can rent a round trip van ride much cheaper and see the same boring sites along the way a lot cheaper.
