    Purchased when I was 16, I've slowly transformed my Super Sport into exactly what I've wanted it to be. 99.9% of things were done by me. It'll probably never be quite done, but I've got it really close, and I couldn't be happier with how my Chevy Impala turned out.

    Simple and clean.. I had 2 of them.. the one thing I wouldn't do if I still had them is replace factory 283, 327 etc. Have a friend who restomod his 65 SS which was very well equipped with options and 390.. swapped everything out .. I left mine with original 283 and 327.. he got just over 72k at auction while mine sold for 98k and 125k.

    Can you let me know the manufacturer of the headers? Maybe a part number? I’m having a heck of a time finding headers for 1966 Impala LS swap. 4 sets later, $300 in damaged headers. I’m just throwing money away trying to get something that fits

    • @ClassicNation
      @ClassicNation  4 года назад

      So the headers are 1st gen Camaro swap headers. I also threw money at this before figuring out what works for me. Again, yours might be different, as header fitment has lots to do with the motor mount plates and where/how the engine is positioned. A sure fire way is to go with mid length or shorty headers instead of the LT's I have, though that would be leaving a few ponies on the table. Good luck!

      Passenger side 4-1/2 degrees positive ¼ to ½ degree negative 1/16 toe in. I haven't addressed the ackermann fix, as I haven't felt the need to and I dont experience any of the issues that this fix corrects. • @ClassicNation
      @ClassicNation  3 года назад +1

      Can you run 14"s? Sure. Are they ideal? Absolutely not. To me, it's about looks as well. I just prefer a bit larger wheel. Even a 15" looks great on these cars. The more important factor is about the knockoff itself. I wouldn't want to run wires/knockoffs on something I was going to be driving aggressively, and with an LS3, there will be a time you want to get aggressive with it.

    How did u get the l92 to run the 4l80

    • @ClassicNation
      @ClassicNation  7 лет назад

      I'm using an E38 ECM and a T42 TCU, and even though the computers and engine and trans came out of different vehicles and years, we were able to get it to work together. The key is flashing the computer with a tune from a vehicle that had a 6.2 and 4L80E, which a 2008 Express van had. The rest is history! I hope this helps!

      U didn't have to use the psi conversion harness, I'm looking at the same conversion for my 74 but don't wanna spend $660+ on a wiring harness

      rabe3 alsett He probably doesn't...but I used to have a nice 69 camaro that people would follow me around in just to ask me if I wanted to sell it. One guy said "you'd never sell that I'll bet." I told him everything is for sale for a price." if you want this 65, plan on coming off about 75-100 grand...maybe upwards of 150 depending on how attached the owner is to it!

    I saw some of your comments on an impala forum. Are you running a 20" in the rear or an 18"? I have found some conflicting info and using your experience as a template for wheels on my '65.

      Hey Aaron, thanks for reaching out. I currently have 18" wheels all the way around, as seen in this video and a few pics that you might have come across on various forums. I did however, have 20" wheels on there for a while (same wheels, just 20" or rear). I swapped back to 18's so I could run a 9" wide wheel, and because I want to experiment with wider tires down the road, and I like the weight decrease from a 20" wheel package vs. the 18" wheel package. Also, an 18" wheels allows a tire with more sidewall. Let me know if you have any specific questions and I'll try to help you along.

      Thanks for the quick reply! I have been doing some measurements with my brother in law. We determined we can stuff a 20x10 in the rear with a 295 tire. From what I can tell, a 295 will give me +/- 1/2" to fender and frame. The car is lowered 3" in the front and has air bags running 30 psi in the rear. The rim is a Ridler 651 showing 0 offset and 5.5" backspace. If there is an alternate way you would like to communicate let me know. Thanks Nick!

      Hey Aaron, Yep, I have seen guys running 20x10 with no issues. Being air ride in the rear, and having wide wheels and tires, I would probably recommend you make sure your rear end is perfectly centered. I have an adjustable panhard bar on mine, which will allow you to get the rear centered perfectly. With that wide setup, you probably wont have much margin for error. Also, remember that the rear will shift around the axis of the panhard bar as it travels through the movement of the suspension. If your clearances are too tight, you run the risk of hitting the inner wheel wheel when completely loaded or unloaded. Just something to think about.

    where did you mount the control box for the dakota gauges? I'm installing the same set and need to stay away from the distributor and ignition control box above the heater box.

    • @ClassicNation
      @ClassicNation  7 лет назад

      I've got the Dakota control module mounted basically directly behind the gauges against the firewall. There isn't anything back there, and although it's tight, there was enough room for me to wire up everything that I needed. I've got the ECM and TCU mounted on the passenger side behinnd the glove box, so for me, this space made the most sense.

      I was thinking of there but it says don't even mount on the other side of the firewall of ignition. Have any issues with yours?

    • @ClassicNation
      @ClassicNation  7 лет назад

      Well, unlike your BBC, I don't have a distributor up against the firewall (Since mine is a computer controlled LS engine) so I didn't have to worry about that. Nope, no issues for me.

      Sure thing. You could always put it there and if you notice any type of interference (which I would doubt would happen anyway), you could either move it or test out some barriers to reduce the interference.
