In the late summer and fall of 1975, he performed with the Faces as second guitarist throughout their final US tour. It was on this tour that Davis became addicted to drugs.[
The best Rod Stewart shows were with Ronnie and Jesse Ed Davis yet there doesn't seem to be any sound footage that shows Jesse Ed Davis. He and Ronnie were the best tock show I ever saw.
I actually was at this show, people were trying to rush the stage, security held them back until Rod requested that they be allowed up to the stage. So many people were on the side of it and attempting to climb up that the white carpeting along with the stage monitors were being slowly pulled off the stage. The end of it was when the roadies came out and rudely pushed everyone away from the stage, nice job Rod
Truth... I was up next to Wood's monitor... holding on for balance. Was pushed down by roadie late in the show. Was crazy up front. We we're just kids having fun! I was a senior in high school. Unreal to see this footage years later!
Hello, nice footage of the last tour. I am in process of creating a mini documentary YT version on Rolling Stones Black and Blue. I talk about the 1975 Faces tour in August-Nov1. I am not for profit and for the fans only. I make no money on this, it is for pure passion and the fans. Am I able to use some of your footage for this? thank you regardless of your decision. Hopefully I hear back within 2 weeks of this.....thanks. steve
Man I wish there was sound to this. I knew Jesse Ed was in Faces for a short while. A bit out of character, but he and Ron Wood must have sounded great together.
@@bobcabo4509 Yeah, he filled in for Eric Clapton, who had his own demon problems, but showed up anyway with a huge white hollow body guitar. You took in some good shows.
No offense to Tetsu or the band, but after Ronnie (Lane) left it just wasn't the same.....Long live the REAL Faces; Woody, Plonk, Rod, Ian and Kenny....
Start with Taj Mahal, Ed was lead guitarist, then maybe Lennon's "Rock and Roll" and "Walls and Bridges." "Watching the River Flow" with Dylan. "Bangladesh" with George Harrison. Then check your rock/blues collection. You probably have lots of Jesse Ed in there but don't know it. One of the best session guitarists around. Why is he not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? He is an American treasure.
@@whowahska Yes! Taj Mahal calls JED a genius and you'd have to agree. Those are some of Jesse's lines Duane is playing on the Allman's version of Statesboro Blues.
@@TonyMowattAs a teenager Jessie Ed toured with Conway Twitty before Conway went country. Red Dirt boogie brother from OK Indian Country. Great musical beginnings.
This was my first night of ushering at Cobo -- I was a senior in high school, and had gotten hired that evening. Way before they let the crowds in, my boss was walking me across the main floor to show me to my station -- the place was practically empty -- except for Rod, and Ronnie & the Faces all sitting on the edge of the stage, just sort of slumped and kicking their feet like bored children, looking up at the ceiling, probably smoking cigs. I remember that their heads/faces seemed much bigger than their bodies. I was posted by the upped-deck women's bathroom & just remember all the young girls, looking very drugged/drunk, being carried in by their friends for the vomiting and clean-up. I was in the fifth row center of this show. I hope Someday, the whole show with sound gets posted!
Scenes from a totally different world..............long gone! Thanks for posting this gem. One of the 5 greatest good time bands EVER!
Jesse Ed Davis was the other guitarist. He played with them on the last part of the final tour. Rod's idea, no surprise.
I was there, y'all. A junior in high school and rockin' out to one of the greatest bands ever.
Thats awesome
Awesome! I knew Jesse Ed Davis toured with Faces and was good friends with Ronnie Wood, but this confirms it.
I was at this show! It was in support of Rod's album Atlantic Crossing.
Saw them 6 days earlier in NY. Thanks for sharing!!!
holy cow! thats so cool!! Too bad the sound is gone but great footage!
Shame there's no sound... I wonder if there's any recordings out there with Jesse

So sad he got into drugs.

They did, I saw them in Florida.
So that was Jesse Ed in there?!! Word is he copped a very bad habit from his time with Faces.
@@whowahska That's what I hear. I also saw him at the Concert for Bangladesh.

@@whowahska Eric did what was needed at the Bangladesh show. I attended the evening show. He played George's sunburst Strat.
Did Blue oyster Cult open for this show?
The string section you see at 1:05 was also Rod's idea. Again, no surprise.
saw this tour with JED as a 16 yo in Dallas Texas hot damn!
Was this a Faces show or a Rod solo show?...
I saw the second show in Kalamazoo. BOC opened, used them newfangled lazer beams.
was Ian McLagan there? I can't see if he was. Just wondering.
Yes - a few sightings, try at the 1:13 mark
Great footage of the boys. Shame about the sound..!!!!
