Hey guys! We’re back on Thursday nights... next up on Sunday, Malindo Air, Denpasar Bali to Kuala Lumpur. Have a good one!
Edit: yes it’s probably a ceo, I transpose flight registrations from FR24 after I land, but perhaps there was a mistake or a spoof registration involved here. I’m sure hundreds more of you will point it out to me 😉
It's okay. Hey we all make mistakes
Iam surprise how similar these budget cost-airline towards Air Asia, a Malaysian budget airline which also serve partnership with other region in Asia
Hi,im from indonesia
I remember those walkways with the gardens, when I connected there on my trip to Australia back in the early 90s... I must have been 5-7 years old back then. it was still one of the most memorable airports that I have been to.
Excellent video as usual. Indonesia is one of the most spectacular countries in the World, especially Bali. Well worth spending a few weeks exploring the island.
When I discovered your channel, I practically binged video after video. Your presentation style is very appealing to me, and I'm thankful that I discovered your channel as you are publishing about your 25-leg world tour. It's great that you are taking in new experiences as many of us could not have done this for our own reasons, and you get to see how people do things (aviation-wise) around the world.
I'm pleasantly surprised to know that Citilink Indonesia has a flight to the Malaysian state of Penang (prominently featured on the cover of the in-flight magazine). There must be enough demand for a direct Jakarta-Penang flight for them to even have that.
That nasi goreng (which literally does mean fried rice) actually looks appealing. I bet it's not the best tasting fried rice in the world, but it's probably quite good for something served on a budget airline.
Well, I'm looking forward to Sunday's video! I can't wait to see your opinion of Kuala Lumpur International Airport!
The best thing to watch with my morning cocoa at 06:00 on a Friday.
Really nice video, and the voice overs are getting better with every video.
2:34 fun fact: the airport t1 and 2 was designed by a french guy, he wants to like focus on our culture and greenaries
Always happy and thrilled by your trip reports Paul. Keep it up man !!! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻😉
Thank you! Paul...continued safe travels to you!
My grandmother had an accident years ago and had to spend a few weeks in a convalescence hospital that looked extremely similar to your shots of Jakarta airport. Looks like it could do with a serious facelift! Absolutely loving this journey, can't wait for the channel update and what's next after Bali.
Great stuff man. Thanks for posting.
As always, fabulous, well detailed, good humoured trip report. Looking forward to Sunday now. 🤓
These video’s are so interesting and honest. Great work!
Great video, Paul! Looking to visit Indonesia in 2020.
Wow those mountains look amazing.
Thanks very much Paul, another excellent report!
Nice way to finish the evening off! Cheers for the report
Love your reports Paul👍😊 as always. So happy everytime😁.
Really great video paul! Very nice hospitality on such a low cost carrier!
Nice one Paul. Great to see far off places and lesser known airlines - reminded me of the late great Alan Whicker on his trips around Asia.
Ahhh Paul, you’ve gone to my homeland. I miss it. The layout of terminal 1 and 2 in CGK was created in the 80s so that explains why it’s the way it is. T3 is the latest and most modern. I love coming in to land at DPS. Brings back memories 👌🏼
Nice video as always mate!
Hi Paul,
As usual, an excellent video - well done.
Just wondering Paul, what editing software do you use?
Many thanks, and keep up the brilliant “voice over” - it’s great.
Thanks,
Bob.
thanks Paul for showing your. Travels around
The world.
One of the most amazing trip I've ever done was to Bali an this Bali dance at this temple is really good... I love your videos... Big fan from south Brasil here!!!
Great video Paul. I remember tracking this one on FR24.
Excellent Paul!
Really impressive for a low fares carrier and great value. Looking forward to your next report already Paul.
Great video! They look a decent airline!
Great video Paul 👍
Glad to hear your production schedule is smoothing out. Paul, please don't get carried away with fast-forwarding. Your vlog was one of the few that didn't and that is one big reason your channel is superior to the rest! It makes sense at night or when flying through a lot of thick clouds or taxiing all over a huge airport. But on the climb outs and final approaches, it's nice to get a sense of where you are (or were!) and FF ruins that! I love watching the plane climb through clouds into blue sky, too. Please don't rush past the little details that set each destination and experience apart!
The terminal 1 and 2 is the old terminals of Soekarno Hatta international airport. It was build more than 30 years ago. We have the newly build terminal 3 for domestic and international. I hope you enjoy your stay in Indonesia, and if you would come back in the future, please try make a review of our national flag carrier, Garuda Indonesia. BTW, the lack of oxygen mask in toilet is due to Directorate General of Aviation regulation.
Love your channel Paul your basically living out my dream for me. Also enjoy interacting on your Twitter, really interesting
Nice Video Paul ... Citilink is one of my favorite airlines domestic flight in Indonesia
Nice one! Excellent product they're offering
Paul.. This was great as with all of your trip reports. I've been to Vermont once, and I think you should take the Amtrak up to Rutland and try skiing!
Another super video Paul!
Enjoying this round the world vlog!
DoubleDeckerAnton anton my man
Hello from one of your Indonesian subscribers! Citilink isn’t my choice of LCC back there but they’re pretty decent (at least it’s not Lion). Great video as always, hope you had a great time in Indonesia. :)
Thank you :-) I flew back out on Malindo up to KL, which was interesting. Excellent value too.
At Indonesian they name batik air
The best LCC one in Indonesia, before QZ AirAsia 👍🏼😄
Well, that was the domestic terminal, if you were international you would have been in the new terminal also for 5is route should have chosen Batik
Citilinks Airline looks Kool in a Green Livery!!!!
Lov3 your vide3os keep it up nice and simple review.
Great report!
I hope we get to hear more of yiur thoughts on Bali, I visited last year and loved it. It's a shame you missed the domestic departures at DPS, great views.
Bel is on !👍
Wow thanks for sharing very different. 👍👍
I like to watch ur videos man. Ur presentation is very good n simple
I sound like a broken record, but the scenery is so beautiful. Really enjoyed watching this video, Paul.
Thank you!
Really enjoying these videos mate 6 down 19 to go keep them coming 🌍🌍🌍
Just started watching this but hope this is as good as usual I’m sure it will be very good you are a very good traveling youtuber could you do a video on how you can afford to do this in a full consent 👍🏼
Just became a patreon and seeing my name in the description kinda just gave me the chills :O
Thanks Daniel! Really appreciate the support (and I have your direct mail and will reply to you as soon as I can log back into my desktop PC ✌🏻)
That meal looks amazing.
Great stuff. Bali is my wife’s favourite place. She has yet to take me there!! Soon then!!
Welcome to Indonesia, Paul.
Paul how did you like the 320Neo? I haven't had a chance to fly on one, my next flight is on a MD-80.
Great video!
temimal 1 it was the oldest in jakarta airport and build in 1983, but for most indonesian specialy older people still be like the terminal 1, my mother in law did not like terminal 3 she said it was to big and sometimes made you lost if not used to be in terminal 3
Idk why i love the design of terminal 1 and 2, very classic and unique :)
Hey i'm Cabin Crew and this sound and interior is a A320ceo not a Neo. And the Engine is to small too. The Overheadbins are also not A320Neo they are A320ceo. And the Safetycard shows A320-200.
But i love your Vids like always!
Seems odd, FR24 and FlightAware brought this up as a neo, -GTG, that’s where I rip the playback map from in the video. Too late now!
I’m ex cabin crew UK. is there seriously no oxygen mask in the WC? There should always be two in every WC. And for anyone seeing this comment thinks that’s odd, it’s not for the mile high club! It’s for a parent with child during a decompression situation arising.
Stuart, the no oxygen mask in the toilet is due to a mis-translation of an FAA bulletin/directive issued about risk of terrorism from tampering with toilet oxygen to make a makeshift bomb when combined with something else. The regulators missed out the part where "non-tamperable oxygen" should be OK... Yeah, well, regulator's mindset here is "prohibit" when able..
Paul, I just checked with a colleague at airline ops. You flew with PK-GQN, a 320-200ceo.
Just information Paul, Terminal 1C, Terminal which Citilink based, now under refurbishment
brilliant paul :)
very well review of term 1 in jakarta, I honestly think so
haii! I'm one of your viewers here from Indonesia. Nice video! Thanks for visiting our country. I recommend u to try our national airline, Garuda Indonesia, because it has a separate terminal. and Garuda is located at the new terminal of the airport
I love this Airline. They really know how to get the low-cost job done;even the price was low.
When I worked as an agency RN, I was sent to a Nursing Home, and the layout is exactly like this Airport's layout. Boxy & claustrophobic.
You will have to try out later in the year? or in 2020 the new Yogyakarta airport..Citilink from Jakarta Halim already comes there..
So close to Sydney...... 😉 I love nasi goreng with a fried egg. Yummo!
Amazing
Nice video Paul! I have a question, i wanna travel to london and i am gonna take the eurostar. But i need to take the thalys from rotterdam to brussels, do you know if the thalys is any good? I can also take the eurostar from rotterdam to london, but the departure times are really bad. (Sorry for my bad english)
stijn geene - I’ve heard good things about the Thalys
Paul, how do you deal with the "jet lag", you must experience? Do you "crash & burn", once you get home, and sleep for days? Lol. I don't know how your body is coping with the sudden climate, altitude, time, and atmospheric changes. You are a real champ. Thanks for taking us, around the world, with you.
FYI that’s a regular A320 (with CFM56 engines and not a neo aircraft). You’d notice it was a neo by the completely different sound (more like a 777) and the engines on neos are much larger. I know what you mean by that airport....I also thought it looked very odd inside!
Good old CGK. If you want the authentic indonesian travel experience, might I suggest you fly Lion Air. If you're in luck on final approach to DPS, they might offer you a water landing!
Whichever way you play it, the flight over Java gives some epic views, sometimes of spluttering cones which some of those in Blighty will be confused about. I put Citilink and Air Asia in the same category for quality of service, just reminds me of easyjet flights out of Brizzle
Hey #Paulstripreports
Nice trip report as always...
It's an A320-200CEO with the droning noise on take off. The NEO don't have it. If you got the date and flight number I could try and get the actial registration for you.
As to CGK T1, it really is hectic, and it's handling more than it was designed to. Each gate has 2 - 4 flights scheduled within 60 minutes. 1 gate has 2 - 3 parking stands for narrowbodies. This was a remnant of the old days when traffic was much quieter.
T1C is better than T1A and T1B, which is a lot more crowded, and yes, still hectic.
The reason why it looked like a hospital is because they white stuff, used to be red. The whole terminal is designed to have a red-brick ambience (and it won awards when it first opened in the late 80s). God knows why the airport management changed it to white, which yes, makes it look... weird. I think the airport operator decided to dump their design team and hired cheapos on this aspect... which really does throw out the original ambience... Sad...
Called by name in an LCC? Thanks to the pre-order and the green seat.
I go through T1C often as I usually fly with Batik or Citilink on domestic, as their ground handling is a LOT better than the others (even Citilink's parent, Garuda)... and those 2 has the best on time performance around based on experience and on independent assessors.
The no oxygen mask in the toilet is due to a mistranslation of an FAA directive issued about risk of terrorism from tampering with toilet oxygen to make a makeshift bomb when combined with something else. The regulators missed out the part where "non-tamperable oxygen" should be OK... Yeah, well, regulator's mindset here is "prohibit" when able..
Welcome to SE Asia Paul...it's always different here!!
Hi, i'am your subscriber from indonesia, i think Citilink is best LCC Airlines after air asia, but my favorites airlines is batik air, as full service airlines!, you can look at 3:54, that is my favorites airlines!
Very nice as always, but this isn‘t a A320NEO. It is „just“ a 320CEO. You can clearly hear and see it at the engines.
How do you find the cheap flight. Do you book 6 months in advance? Have you tried JetStar in Asia?
What were your baggage fees I may be taking this same flight in March?
Again an excellent review Paul. Only 1 thing could u do the costs also in euros, for all our people across the channel who's watching your reviews. Kind regards from The Netherlands 😁
I won't add to comemnts below whith which I agree.
One question though ... how do you manage with visas landing in so many varied destinations ? One year ago I did a round the world tour and in Miami I was put through additional security checks by the security people upon looking at my ticket.
I'm from the UK; most travel is visa-free.
Thanks for not fast forwarding the takeoff, the acceleration of a 150,000 pound machine fighting the earth's gravity to lift off of it. is the best part of a flight in my opinion.
Hi Paul, i watch some of your videos but not quite subscribe this channel
just for your information...terminal 1 Soekarno-Hatta was designed open air (natural concept) and full with Indonesian Art Carving, and yes on a hot day it can be very uncomfortable. if you wan't air conditioned room you can have it at the lounge or boarding room which works well from my experience.
Yes you are so lucky having empty seat like that..
I think you must try Garuda Indonesia ( Business Class ) Mr Paul ... thanks...😊
Hello from Indonesia :)
Live this!
lol I mean love
Congratulations hope you do well I’m sure you will
That does not sound like a NEO its more like a CEO
alfie ayles I think so as well
Agreed I was going to say for a NEO that's one loud bird. Those wings didn't exactly look factory fresh either.
Correct PK-GKN is a -214SL
Having flown on an A320NEO the other day. It sounds A LOT quieter than this 😂 PK-GQN is a standard A320-214SL
Yup Green is my favourite Colour fa sure!!!!
Just what I need when can't sleep for some reason youtube did not tell me
im indonesia and proud of it
Will you ever do a video on how to afford this?
The rant for Terminal 1 is very justified and reasonable. As an Indonesian myself, ever since i've been taking flights when i was 12 Terminal 1 just gives me a frown. Cramped, chaotic, and the design for "open-air" was simply not made for modern day Jabodetabek area which is now excessively humid and hot. It's idea of traditional architecture is also very outdated and wasnt thought out for modernization as the narrow walkways and bridges have also been filled by vendors, small shops, or devices such as ATMs or the schedule monitors.
However, it is greatly redeemed by the slightly modern Terminal 2 and the brand new Terminal 3
Terminal 2 is a monument..a bit spoilt and has too few lifts..but still a lovely architecture
wow so cool short flight 1 30min ??
It's shame u only spend 24 hours in Bali. Bali is exciting place.. looking forward the next video.
another great film Paul :} PS. if you need a baggage carrier? please let me know i'd be more than happy to accompany you lol. PPS. carry on with the with the great films, places me and my wife (and many others too i dare say) dream of. so for that we thank you :}}
Oxygen fuels fire and after watching. Documentary on flying, lots of fires start in the lavatory so perhaps that’s why no O2 in there?
Please use Garuda Indonesia Airline. Its in terminal 3. And its top 10 airline in the world.
Not sure if I’m just not paying attention whenever I fly but I had no idea plane lavatories don’t have oxygen.
Paul are you sure that's a NEO aircraft. Engines don't sound to me as a NEO but normal CFMs ...Well done for all the job you're doing!
It's indeed an A320ceo, noted by the droning noise and the safety card which shows and reads "A320-200"
Interested about your remark on the passenger reclining his seat soon after takeoff. What’s your policy on this?
Personally I don’t recline my seat if there is someone sat behind me. He could have used any of the other spare seats in his row if he wanted to do that.
4:20 lucky to have an airbridge, they must have known you where coming! 😂😂😂
Joseph Samson most low cost carriers here in Indonesia use bus rather than air Bridge so Paul is very lucky.
T2 & T3 soekarno hatta use airbridge. It is Different in T1 they use bus
