    When I upgraded to Cubase 11 I removed a lot of 3rd party plugins because, to be honnest, there's almost anything included. For exemple, I did not use cubase delays for years and prefered the Brainworks ones, after checking the update, the one included are amazing, with lots of modulation possibilities, filters on the delay line... don't overlook the stock VSTs, tape emulation, vintage compressors.... it's sick. Thanks Dom!

    Hello. Great video. I use the multi correlation meter as well but a lot of times everything is in phase except the 15khz to 20khz range. I can't seem to figure out why this is. Could it be my hardware chain? This is a real mystery to me I would greatly appreciate your take on this situation. Thanks keep up the great work!

  • @f.herumusu8341
    @f.herumusu8341 2 года назад

    Hmmm ... you can't tell if you have a mono-compability issue by ears but just with a meter? What about listening to your mix in mono and hear if there's a problem? And even if the meter shows a problem, but it sounds OK in mono: Then you "can get away with it" as Dom says often in the video.

    • @DomSigalas
      @DomSigalas  2 года назад

      This is a very good point! I was talking more from a sound designer point of view. Sometimes you need to check these things in a lot of detail. Especially when you are creating sounds. In this case meters are invaluable because these are sounds that will end up on different arrangements and songs and the mono - test doesn’t necessarily tell the whole story. Especially if you’re designing kick drums, basses and big drone pads. :)
      Also, it’s a great indicator when selecting sounds for your arrangement. In this case you only need to play a few notes of the sound and you can see if it has big phase issues in the low end- you might choose to filter it sooner than waiting to realise if something’s wrong with your mix and scratching your head why everything sounds wrong- way harder to find the culprit then :)
      But yes, for a typical mix you’re absolutely right- checking in mono is a great tool 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼

  • @paulmistygatz7888
    @paulmistygatz7888 4 месяца назад

    Supervision is indeed powerful BUT Steinberg fucked up the design again. For example, if you reopen a session or even a new plugin, it’s size is always different, for example my default preset when opening is just a VU/RMS meter but then the design is unnecessary bloated. The outer frame is unnecessary large which is the biggest downside working on smaller screens like MacBook. Also why is there no fucking gain knob. It’s like any other plugins from Steinberg: the idea is good, but the design team don’t work with music actually, they’re just coders with zeros and ones in their mind. It’s typical for Steinberg, they’re always 10 years behind.

    • @DomSigalas
      @DomSigalas  4 месяца назад

      Interesting - not sure what the problem is on your system but over here the window sizes are always the same and I have a monitor occupied by it all the time.
      Quite honestly I’m struggling to understand what your other issue is. Especially as someone who’s tried most of the third party (and very expansive) metering plugins out there. Supervision is the most clean and configurable meter in my opinion and it’s free.
      No other DAW has that so let’s appreciate what we have. And any suggestions why don’t you try the official forums with specific and useful feedback ? :)
