Oh my goddddd the Nightrunner series are some of my favorite books of ALL time and I got so excited when you started talking about them! Not a lot of people have even heard of them and when you started talking about them, before you named them and pulled them up, I was like ?! Could it be?? And then I was so happy lol. I love these, you should check out The Song of Achilles, its not as happy as most stories within your selection but hey some verity and lets remember we suffered vibes its painful and not perfect but quite ravishing, and the fantasy themes are there but much less than the ones you presented which is kind of rare to see.

My favorite M/M fantasy book is Swordspoint by Ellen Kushner. It's a fantasy of manners published in 1987 that follows a hired swordsman and his mysterious university student lover as the swordsman fights duels of honor on behalf of the nobles in a city.

I loved the whole "Tarot Sequence" series. It really felt there could be more books since we have not had the conclusion to all the mysteries yet. My only complaint was it felt like it was romance light, it was barely mentioned. I don't need a lot of smut, but the relationship between Rune and Adam was just not as satisfying as it could have been.
