It has always been REALLY bad….
Maybe he wanted to emphasize how big the Hummer is at the starting intro of the vid
The wizard is always so happy to see the Wallet named Hoovie come into the shop :)
One good thing about having lots of cars at the Wizard's, you don't need someone to pick you up when you drop something off. Just time it when something is ready for pick up. But then again, there is the cost of it all.
Was thinking the same thing! Haha
Wizard seems more excited about this one than I expected! Brings back some nostalgia it seems. :)

When I worked at Guldstrand Engineering in the early 90's we specialized in Corvettes & we worked on many movie stars cars, one of which was Arnold's H-1 Hummer where we removed the diesel engine & installed a Vette Tune-Port 350. Wizard, a fellow Army mechanic as was I. I worked on my fair share of those as did I work on 5T, HEMMT, and MLRS Launchers. I think those prices he quoted where a little high in my opinion, especially in terms of time to fix. Lots of those repairs I could have knocked out pretty quickly since most of that stuff is just repetitive work.
Driving the sprite. When coming to a stop, stay in 2nd until the engine almost starts to die. Then you can shift into 1st just as you stop. Saves crunching the gears.

In some parts of the USA the wizards shop rate would be considered cheap . Where I live the repairs would be at least twice that estimate .
Love the Sprite, Hoovie! The later "squarebody" was a revalation to my paper route years; with one "chucker" standing in the trunk, and another 14 year old, unlicensed driver, at the wheel, we were throwing more than 400 papers a day. Great memories! FR
Hoovie, Wheeler Dealers is the ultimate format for this. Half is the wheeling and dealing. Essentially, you're Mike. Half is Ed. That's Wizard. We should have videos documenting the repair. The videos would be well rcvd and you would make more money. Don't leave those videos on the table.
Loving this Hooptie Rescue Mission! I can't wait for the Wizard to find the next set of surprises once he gets into the H1.
Those opening seconds make owning an H1 so worth it! I watched it back several times!
Decades from now… someone will view the discussion between Hoovey and the Wizard going over pricing of the repairs. Those watching are going to say “Wow, those were the days when a fossil fuel transport were so cheap to repair.”
Those watching will wonder what is a repair? Electric doe not need em.
Those watching will not be allowed to repair their broken stuff.
@@davidvicari5139 i reckon at least 50% of Wizards repairs involve suspension and steering. Until electric vehicles self levitate, the suspensions and drive shafts will break like any other car.

I'm wondering if Tyler has become the exclusive customer for the wizard. Every time I tune in, his shop is full of Hoovie's garage stuff.

I watched the video and every hummer in the inventory had uneven tire wear and tires needed to be replaced. If they neglected the tires I wonder what other maintenance issues are there
For some people as long as the vehicle starts and drives, then no other work required.
Given that they apparently also unplugged the relay to the CEL, i'd say she's got some nasty surprises.

Funny thing about the H1 Hummer. It feels so huge, but it's actually smaller than a newer F-150. My uncle had one and it looks small next to my F150. We measured and the H1 is 72.5" wide and the F150 is just under 80"

Seems like it would be a good time to do the inboard brakes while you've got the suspension apart
more so the shafts, you can usually remove the drive shafts without removing the suspension but you're 100% correct: at the very least turn the rotors and replace the pads.
Hummer/hmmwv eats pads quick. They are from the amc eagle!
But a simple pad swap can be done on front axle in 15 minutes! The rear has funky park brake so it takes 25 minutes, but hmmwv doesn’t have that so another 15 and done. Super easy.
R&R rotor takes 30 minutes each if needed.
@@hummervs3278 The rear has funky park brake, yes, but once applied the truck won't move. Drive shaft brake works well.
@Hoovie, according to some; you've properly pronounced aluminum! LOL
the wizard forgot sorting the AC
Not sure he "forgot" it. Hoovie already said it had no freon in it when he got it, it leaked all the new freon in five days, so Wizard knows there is a bad leak, but not yet just where. Additionally, Wizard knows that considerale damage and new parts may be needed if the system was "open to atmosphere and moisture"- the front condensing coil and the evap coil in the dash may be compromised by internal oxide deposits and corrosion from water entering as humidity. Any number from say $200 to $2000 could be "in the ball park". Hope that helps! BTW, I'm a retired HVAC guy, with Federal ticket for everything but the refrigeration units on tractor trailers and some Conex shippers. FR

The sheer pain in the wizards voice when that hood opened. "Yup. Just like I remember."
It is H1, everything, every mistake and problem is forgiven!
Congratulations Hoovie, you are now an official racing celebrity.
Love the little frog eye 🐸, it's way more fun driving a slow car fast than a fast car slow ☺️
While frog eye is likely more accurate, I grew up calling them bug eye sprites.
@@nunyabusiness5075 growing up in Australia we called them what the English did, we did call the first GD 2001 Subaru Impreza the bug eye though.
After the first video I read up on them on Wikipedia. They were designed to have flip up headlights like a Porsche but then they decided that would cost too much to make so just switched to fixed ones hence the bizarre appearance.
Make sure Wizard gets the half shafts from AM general not the shitty Chinese copies you can get at parts stores or eBay
A normal mechanic would've charged Hoovie twice as much because they're alien to most people. The wizard, though? That Hummer is an old friend. He can knock it out easy lol.
Also a normal mechanic would charge a fortune, you pay the bill and something else is now broken.
Also they would need to change the blinker fluid on each light. Hahahahaha
Wizard seems to have a policy to prevent that; he has a high enough base labor charge neither he nor his mechanics feel any need to gouge or play games- and he doesn't. If you don't like his estimates, you are free to go elsewhere, but coming back is Wizard's option. He feels if you can't afford it, don't own it and damn sure don't break it. FR
What I love about these videos is Hoovie isnt faking the reaction to the costs, like, you can tell it's not setup :D
Hoovies insurance guy must love him. 😂
Its not as bad as you think. He has one of those single driver/multi car policies where he is listed as the only driver. Since he can't drive 2 cars at the same time he gets a big discount.
