I know you are not a big fantasy fan but I think you will like Tad Williams.
Re-read the first trilogy after ??? years. Started with the Heart, then went into this series. Book one? Still going through it, but it is good (slow burn, but good). Still enjoy his prose. Been through Otherland, Flowers, Shadowmarch, etc. I like Witchwood enough to keep trucking through. Thanks for your YT entry!

I saw an interview with Tad Williams. The change in covers came from the publishing company having restructuring issues with parent company. Out of that fallout they decided he didn’t deserve the highly sought previous artist and went cheaper.
@@ten7prime179 wow, just wow. I heard something similar. I’m not saying the third cover is horrible, it just has no resemblance or continuity with the first two or any of his other books for that matter.
I think I said this before but those covers look great but like you said why on book 3? 😩
I wanna aay I'd like to check this out but I feel like my list is getting over burdensome. Lol Getting so many good recommendations it's hard not to keep adding to the list... So I'll be adding this series as well. Lol
I told Grozz to let me know what you guys decide to read for the next graphic novel... I'll decide then... I'm leaning towards sitting one out and rejoining on the next one if invited... I'm just a bit behind on everything right now so we will see.
That is the best thing about books. You can never read them all! Just a little book comedy ha ha.

I am very fond of The Last King of Osten Ard series. It depends on the last book whether it will surpass Memory, Sorrow and Thorn as my favourite work by him but so far, promising.
Book 3, yes, what happened is DAW (publisher)'s corporate partner Penguin Random House refused to pay Whelan for the remaining covers because the series hasn't sold well. DAW going through financial difficulties was in no position to refuse, they have since sold and renamed as Astra Publishing. Anyway, end result, mid series cover change. Why they didn't bother to at least retain the same natural landscape and went with strange mask - no idea. They also flipped the order of title and author on the paperback at least, looks so inconsistent.

Thank you so much! I thought it had something to do with the change from DAW. Didn’t know they refused to pay the author! I can’t wait to see what they do with the Otherland television series
In July 2022, DAW was acquired by Astra Publishing The illustrator has been changed
