1) If Blair wanted to thwart Corbyn's campaign he should've professed unequivocal support for it.
2) The huge jump in registered voters is only a possible admin problem, not a political one, and therefore should be discussed as such - both within Labour & media.
Like the tories they should have said new members had to had to wait a few months before they could vote on the leadership , he would never have got in !

Why does the Electoral Reform Society not concentrate on giving the electorate a voting system that allows their votes to count (my vote has never counted because I have always lived in 'safe seat' constituencies where the incumbent will win no matter whether I support or oppose him) instead of opposing the democratic method that has been instituted for the selection of a Labour Party Leader? I hope that the next leader will extend the system to voting at the Conference instead of having to rely on delegates so that it becomes worthwhile to obtain Labour Party Membership as well as affiliation.

So typically they fail to see that J.C. is good for the country; he represents the mindset of many people, people who hitherto have been hidden in the shroud of Labour, people who have clung to the shirt tails of politicians with a suitable public persona, lurked in the shadows only to appear with prejudices and agendas once power has been seized....well now they're out in the open where we can see them..which has to e good for democracy, another reason why so many of Labour's supporters are panicking.

Channel 4 News Firstly - I thought CGM did a pretty good job hosting. Raised decent points for all involved to address.
Secondly - Politicians and news often moan that:
1. People don't take interest in politics.
2. Labor has failed and needs to find a way to get the numbers in.
3. Labor needs new ideas/approach/focus because the previous ones clearly didn't work.
So...
1.So there is a guy who is against corporate influence etc etc (a Progressive).
2. Now there is a surge, but its for a part of the party that isn't the same as the old.
They feel getting that clearly all this can't be quite right.
And somehow Labor wonder why they have an internal crisis.
They want to be known as on the 'left' whilst actually being 'Tory Lite' and want to sideline pretty much anything remotely 'Progressive', probably over exaggerating and labeling 'Progressive' rhetoric as 'Socialists'. The funny thing is, the Republicans in the US do this, the Cons here do this, even UKIP do this.
Labor is trying really hard to stay 'Tory Lite', the problem is they want the public to want it too.
Its like watching children squabble, just a lot more tragic and funny considering its with regards to how we manage our country.
Its not really unfair to call them childish if they are being childish. It wouldn't matter if they were Party members, policemen, or celebrities, the behavior certainly indicates they are being childish.

All to sabotage a party that is already the victim of its own backwards Tory Lite recent history and that largely are arguing to be the same as they were.
Frankly people who assume a surge is due to a bunch of people from other parties trying to create a false surge, are likely making wild assumption. After all it could just be that a bunch of people like what he says. (especially when UKIP/Cons/Tory Lite, don't tend to want to tackle money in politics)

The media attention that is on him is driving much of his popularity, regardless of what the media says good or bad, or even their policies, just the fact he is always in the news is enough.
The same was done with Farage. Heck even the 'No' vote with scotland was related to more media pushing for no more than for yes.
Notice how all those anti progressive ideology never actually refer to 'Progressive' only mislabel to socialist or marxist etc (despite the very definitions of the words). Like when everyone labelled most people who joined UKIP as racist rather than largely misinformed. OR both, or out of protest etc
The only reason why anyone is even a bit scared of him is because he is against money in politics, corporate influence etc. The major parties/politicians that specifically go after that, are labelled socialists instead of 'Progressive' despite the facts. When ever he brings up corp influence, Even CH4 news cuts him off (conveniently).
Personally I'm up for getting money/corp influence out of politics. Then everyones ideologies have a fair go. That isn't how things currently stand.
Overall Labor are doing more damage to themselves than anyone has and will do. If Corbyn is enough to undermine Labor in all the ways you seem to think, then Labor was already lost. (mostly lost in trying to be Tory Lite)

The Labour leadership race has made it apparent that the Labour camp is split and fractured into Left & Center Right politics. The party isn't united & the subsequent in-fighting is making the party as a whole seem weak and directionless, as well as leaderless. By default it is strengthening the Conservative foothold and if it continues it will only serve to secure another Conservative majority come next election.
In my opinion Labour are dead whoever they elect as leader, Ed Miliband was the best they had and he didn't even come close.
Labour isn't dead yet, but it will if Corbyn doesn't win. Only he can reinvigorate its purpose by making it mainstream to oppose austerity & Thatcherite policies that have dominated politics of both the Left and right for over 30 years.
In the 1990's there were three parties in parliament that agreed with Thatcherism, if Corbyn wins there will only be two. That's the cause of the split. But I have to point out, it is never the Left that question the party result or go off and form a new party called the SDP, it is always the right that are throwing their toys out of the pram. Perhaps they will do it again by forming "Progress" this time?
If Corbyn hadn't stood, Unite was going to leave & both Scottish & northern voters were going to abandon labour. Despite Blair's hysteria, Corbyn may keep the party and Union of Scotland & England together longer than anyone else could have.
